Fish oil should also be supplemented, particularly DHA or docohexanoic acid. 60% of the cell membranes within the brain are made up of DHA. It allows your brain to become very fluid, flexible, and increases it's ability to be plastic.

Avatar n tn If you are nutrionally deficient, then a daily beta carotene supplement might improve night vision espcially. If you are healthy and well nourished, I don't foresee that vitamin supplements will improve your vision. If you have macular degeneration, then special vitamin formulas have been shown to slow the progression of the disease and some studies also show a protective effect against cataracts as you age.

4274823 tn?1388529098 I am taking a high dose sublingual (under the tongue) vitamin B12 supplement. On alternate days I take a low dose B complex supplement. My doctor doesn't think the B complex is necessary, but the dietitian does. What's your opinion? I did have a B12 deficiency prior to supplementation. The dietitian said B complex is good support for stress. I added that much later.
1042487 tn?1275279899 Everybody knows about Vitamin D and that we get it from sun. Did you actually know Vitamin D is in fact a prohormone by itself and in is active form it is a steroid hormone? Vitamin D was misnamed when it was first discovered hundreds of years ago, before we knew where it came from or how it was made. By definition, it is not a vitamin because vitamins are not produced endogenously they must be obtained exogenously from dietary food source.
5572863 tn?1395619413 If you would supplement with this, then Vitamin D3 is the one to take (D2 is a synthetic form which is of little use to us - the body will convert it to D3, yes, but the conversion will yield extremely low numbers, and at high levels, D2 can be toxic - such is not the case with D3).
Avatar n tn and vitamin c can help too
Avatar f tn I live in the northeast, so I don't get enough vitamin d from the sun much of the year, but I supplement daily (and have for years and years) and eat lots of d-fortiifed foods. For several years I have battled unexplained severe fatigue, cognitive/memory issues, periods extreme weakness of muscles (without exertion) - especially upper arms and upper legs, unexplained frequent urination, etc.
Avatar f tn The worst of my symptoms of anxiety/depression has been my memory loss and trouble concentrating. I'm 21 and these symptoms have made me feel disabled during school. I don't know how to explain it other than my mind fogging and completely shutting off to the point where I can read one sentence over and over, and still not comprehend it. My question is, once my medication starts working, will my memory come back? Meaning will I remember the things I had trouble remembering.
