Avatar n tn I have a problem remembering anything past a day, I have forgotten holidays and even my own birthday before. I'm wondering if there is anything I can do to help improve this. I also wonder if this could possibly be a sign of having ADD.
Avatar m tn I have been looking into methods of increasing my ability to stay focused and concentrate on a single task for extended periods of time. I tend to lose focus when reading or when trying to get started on project. I started looking into Adderall but started looking into supplements or natural foods. Anyway, my question is, would taking Ginkgo Biloba, Ginseng, Omega-3, or Nootropics be an effective way of increasing my ability to concentrate and retain information.
Avatar n tn i recently gave up coffee, because it was triggering my anxiety symptoms, but the problem is that coffee always helped me to study, to concentrate on what i was reading, and to improve my memory. i tried to study the other day and it seemed hard to concentrate, but i don't want to drink it anymore in case it makes me anxious again. so basically, my question is - is there any other decaffeinated beverage that you know of that can help you concentrate, like a kind of tea or something?
Avatar f tn The worst of my symptoms of anxiety/depression has been my memory loss and trouble concentrating. I'm 21 and these symptoms have made me feel disabled during school. I don't know how to explain it other than my mind fogging and completely shutting off to the point where I can read one sentence over and over, and still not comprehend it. My question is, once my medication starts working, will my memory come back? Meaning will I remember the things I had trouble remembering.
Avatar n tn healthy foods such as fruits and vegetables and omega-3 fats, improve brain function and have been shown to improve memory, IQ, and general behavior; and at the same time, they eliminate depression. One of the biggest culprits is sugar.

Avatar n tn I am 30 yr old professional now, but have a history of illicit drug use as an adolescent. Those drugs included moderate use of alcohol and marijuana. I had also abused acid, meth, cocaine, and huffed butane but not so much as to call a habit. I also boxed as an amateur off and on for the past 5 yrs. I have an incredibly bad short term memory issue to such an extent that I can't retain the info taken in for 30 sec to 1 min later. This is not with all subjects though.
2192208 tn?1346525832 Improving Memory or Cognitive Function - There are scientific evidence that G. biloba would be helpful. It is worth taking to see if it can improve memory and concentration in those suffering with memory problems. Not all results are positive, however. It seems that it might not be very effective for improving memory in people who don't have memory problems.
Avatar n tn I understand comlpletely. Yes please tell us a little more. I can relate because the same thing happenz to me. I had a teacher who told me that it may just be because i dont read enough. Because really i dont read at all. Thats part of my problem and she was right. But as the previous comment says the reason for this is probably because your mind is preocupied with other thoughts.
Avatar m tn Hi, You can try some memory enhancing exercises like solving puzzles. Another very good way to improve the memory is to learn a new language or a musical instrument. Also do some deep breathing exercises to keep you relaxed as stress and anxiety can also cause problems in concentration and memory. Hope this helps!
Avatar m tn I'm 16, so this is beyond me, but I can offer support. I have ADD. I fear public speaking too, I don't even like reading in front of people. I improve every time though. When I'm off my meds (Vyvanse) I have to read and re-read the same page. Poor posture -- me too, and my posture worsens a lot when I'm stressed or feeling down. Does yours? It sounds like you have low self-esteem, I bet posture correlates with self-esteem. Might I suggest a back brace?
Avatar n tn How to improve my son Short Term memory? There are any kind of exerccisses? Diets ? etc ??
Avatar m tn ve done cocaine, ecstasy, marijuana, and alcohol. My issue is that I feel like I have memory and cognitive issues due to my past drug use. I have since graduated from college and hold a computer related job. I do well in my job, but can't get over the past drug use and blaming it for my perceived inadequacies. I do brain training programs like mindfit, sudoku, read books, yoga, work out etc. I am literally trying everything I can to try and regain my sharp memory and cognitive skills.
Avatar n tn it is again a natural supplement ,this works on a sub-molecular level to improve Focus, concentration and memory , you can google it for more information.
Avatar f tn Thank you so much! This really did help me.
Avatar m tn I have read some horrifying posts about Lexapro damaging memory (some of which people say is permanent) and considering taking half a dose a few days and either continuing that permanently or quitting. I cannot afford to lose any memory space at this point in my life. I'd rather be anxious than dumb -_- .
