imitrex weight gain

I've had migraines with Aura's since I was eighteen. In my thirties they became more frequent right before my periods and vomiting began. I've been on several different therapies with short term success. My neurologist recently subscribed neurontin -- 300 mg 3x per day. The medication is really helping -- but I've experienced tremendous weight gain. What alternatives could I explore that would have similar success without the weight gain?

I used it and did find it helped with pain but I had a huge weight gain (16 pounds in 3 weeks without changing diet or exercise.) I tend to be very sensitive to medications, though. I would give it a try to see how it works for you. You can always come off it if you find the side effects are bad. I had also tried Cymbalta, but it wasn't a good fit for me. I am so glad that you asked about imitrex! I take a triptan, like imitrex, and personally I think that triptans are the best treatment for acute migraines, and they are also the most prescribed medication for acute migraines.

I don't have much of a question, but wanted to introduce myself. I've periodically had migraines throughout my life, but they were never very often. However, that changed since I've been diagnosed with lupus and fibromyalgia (as well as other chronic pain issues). Especially since the fibro was discovered (about 15 years ago), my migraines have increased in frequency. The week before last, I had 3 in that week alone.

Her doctor had her taking Geodon to help her sleep along with Zoloft for depression. She started to gain weight and became even more reclusive so we found a specialist out of town to check her Thyroid. She was diagnosed with Hypothyrodism and told to get off the Geodon because it causes weight gain and possibly Diabeties (he was pretty upset that she was taking Geodon and believes she's been mis-diagnosed). If you suffer from some other types of medical conditions too, Imitrex should not be taken. Do not take Imitrex if you have underlying cardiovascular diseases, if you have uncontrolled hypertension, if you are taking MAO-A antidepressants or and do not take Imitrex if you have severe hepatic impairment.

Well I'm 7 months that means I'm 27 weeks and I have only gain 1 pound my midwife said it was OK 4 me to not gain weight bcz I'm over weight so u girls tell me it seems like I won't have to do a lot of weight loss. How far are u nd how much you gain?

You gain the most weight in the last 8 weeks. So you might barely gain now, and then pack it on fast toward the end which is normal.

does either imitrex or maxalt contain caffeine? I was taking Maxalt for migraines and it worked great! Now my insurance has decided I need to try Imitrex before they will approve coverage for the Maxalt. The Imitrex took about 2 hours to have any effect, but eventually my headache subsided. Since then I have had recurring headaches for 4 days.

I know this is probably a stupid question, but I'm 36weeks pregnant and since my last doctors appointment I haven't gained any weight. I didn't gain weight in the 1st trimester due 2 sickness, but in the 3rd I've been pretty steady with my weight gain...at the very least a poun a week. So my dr says my weight gain is fine. He said 1 pound per week along I am.. So I am 32 weeks and I have gained 31 lbs... Does that sound like a lot?!? What has everyone else gained? Or is that a horrible question to ask everyone?

I haven't gain that much weight but I'm pretty sure I was at least 7 to 10 pounds over weight before I got pregnant.... I'm 5'3 so i think i should weight a little less..... maybe 125lb Before I had my beautiful baby girl (now 25 months) I was working out a lot and I was feeling good ...lol I went down to 128lbs and that when my hubby decided that it was time for another baby ..... I don't even know how or when did It happen.... :(.

I believe that prevacid can cause weight gain ..seems so many babies are now diagnosed with reflux we used to call it cholic and wait for it to pass now seems they put them on meds.Still your doctor would know the answer, I think its the meds and whilst you child ius on them he may gain weight.good luck once he is off the meds he may go down to a normal weight.

So do you think I won't gain any more weight for a while then since your 16weeks and have also gained 10lbs?

Talk to ur dr about ur weight gain or lack of. Your baby is getting plenty of nutrition as long as your taking ur vitamins and eating your fruits and veggies. Good lucky honey.
