Imitrex spray

Common Questions and Answers about Imitrex spray

imitrex

Avatar m tn t try to give you a generic version of the sumatriptan in a non-quick dissolve tablet instead of the brand-name imitrex version which automatically comes in a quick dissolve tablet. Imitrex ALSO comes in a nasal spray and an injection. The imitrex tablet should work in HALF AN HOUR. The imitrex nasal spray can work in 10-20 minutes.... same with the injection pretty much.
Avatar f tn I don't have much of a question, but wanted to introduce myself. I've periodically had migraines throughout my life, but they were never very often. However, that changed since I've been diagnosed with lupus and fibromyalgia (as well as other chronic pain issues). Especially since the fibro was discovered (about 15 years ago), my migraines have increased in frequency. The week before last, I had 3 in that week alone.
507619 tn?1211845850 I use the Imitrex nasal spray and it gets rid of my headaches with no euphoria or narcotic "haze".
518798 tn?1295212279 I usually use the imitrex nasal spray, but they didn't have any and couldn't get it in for a couple of days. I couldn't wait that long so they gave me the pills. I don't think the pills work as well as the spray. I, too, only have a couple a year, but this is the 3rd one this month. I try not to take it unless I absolutely have to because they cost so much.
Avatar m tn That is why you need to get a triptan in either a nasal spray or a quick dissolve tablet, such as zomig nasal spray or imitrex nasal spray or maxalt quick dissolve tablets. There is also a injection that would be fast acting too... but, they only prescribe the injection in very severe cases since no one wants to use an injection, but it is called a sumatriptan pen (because the needle sort of looks like a pen). The fastest that Zomig Nasal Spray can work is 10 minutes.
1125820 tn?1265284446 The bioavailability of Imitrex tablets is pretty pathetic, honestly, so Imitrex Injection is VERY different then Imitrex tablets or Imitrex Nasal Spray. Also, which Maxalt did you try? Did you try the regular Maxalt tablets or the Maxalt-MLTs? The Maxalt-MLTs are the orally disintegrating tablets. The Maxalt-MLTs work better than the regular Maxalt tablets. If you haven't tried Maxalt-MLTs yet, I would suggest giving those a try too. Which Zomig did you try?
Avatar f tn examples are maxalt-MLT, zomig-ZMT, zomig nasal spray, imitrex or imitrex nasal spray. But, only your doctor can prescribe these or say if they are actually appropriate for you and your headache (not everyone can take them).
Avatar f tn I always kept Imitrex in a pill or spray form, so I could be ready. Keep a headache diary and look for clues as to what might trigger your migraines. My son is 9 and he was getting them very frequently. We learned that the drive to school, where he was facing the sunrise, and his not really eating his breakfast together triggered his pretty quickly. This school year we are doing a different routine and his are much less frequent.
Avatar f tn I am so sorry for what you have been going through. I started having migraines when I was 23. They couldn't diagnose me for 8 years because I had no migraine and had vomiting all night (only at night) and abdominal pain. The neurologist did an electroencephalogram and found it was a migraine. I was put on doxepin for a year and that helped but then it didn't work so they finally put me on Klonopin and it went away but then in my 30's it changed to severe migraine and auras.
Avatar n tn ve tried Imitrex tablets (no help since I threw them up), Imitrex Nasel Spray (once again, no help because I threw it up), Imitrex Injection (have you tried this? I couldn't keep taking because of an allergic reaction). Another good option is Relpax. It is a tablet BUT one of the benifits is that it helps with vomiting also. I did fine on this and I'm a huge vomiter (yuck, lack of a better word). Sure wish I had insurance still...
768044 tn?1294223436 I currently use zomig nasal spray. I give it two thumbs up! In the past I have also used Maxalt (the dissolving kind) and Axert. I like zomig. The taste of the nasal spray isn't great (okay, it's TERRIBLE), but it works better than the tablets (in my personal experience and also this is true in terms of the chemical interaction of the medication in the various forms as they've found via scientific trials...
Avatar n tn t get imitrex tablets, get the imitrex or generic nasal spray or imitrex or generic injection OR treximex tablets but NOT imitrex tablets. - Zolmitriptan. brand name Zomig. this is what i use. (although i have used all of them at some point) don't get the tablets... like imitrex, the tablets don't work. But, the nasal spray DOES work incredibly well and this is what is usually prescribed anyway. - Almotriptan. brand name Axert. a very powerful triptan tablet.
Avatar f tn I have always had this pain due to a car accident, my doctors have me on propolanol to take in the morning to prevent my headaches, and imitrex for when I do get them, but lately nothing is cutting it. Now with my headache, everytime I take a step when I am walking or turn my head I get very dizzy and light headed. Sunday night was so bad I had to take 2 imitrex and that didnt work, a pain pill, nothing seemed to help, all I could do was cry.
Avatar f tn I am normally a healthy 60 yr old woman;walk 3 mi. every day; do not smoke or drink; good BP and blood tests good; recently since Oct. smells (fragrances, candles, gas or petro products) produce instant migraines and inner ear fullness/dizzyness/equalibrium problems. Neuro Dr. put me on a 5 day prednesone regime (10mg starting w/5 first day, 4 sec day and so on). still have headache and dizzyness.
Avatar f tn What about Aleve, indomethacin, and the triptans (Zomig, Imitrex, Maxalt, Relpax) in the event that I do end up getting a migraine during this time? I was told I could take tylenol, not that it would dent one of my headaches. I asked the audiologists office but apparently they forgot to ask and now the audiologist is out of town. This would figure! Thanks for your help in advance!
Avatar n tn Now on 300mg of Topamax, 240 mg Varapamil , 10mg Lexapro , Birthcontrol ( Hormone Control ) , OTC Clariton , Prednisone , Daily Nasal Spray . I have tried Chiropractor and Accupuncture. Nothing is working to get ride of daily head ache and I am back up to 3-4 severe migraines a week where I need Fioricet because Imitrex has stopped working . Last week I has an attack where it took them two Tortal shots , an Imitrex shot and a phenergan shot plus three oxycoten .
Avatar f tn What can cause a headache at bridge of nose? It happens 2-3 times per month and always lasts 24 hours. I've seen two ENT's and a neurologist but no answers. I've had septoplasty and turbinate reduction but got no relief. Imitrex for migraine helps if I take it at the onset but I don't believe it's a migraine. If I press on the top of my nose it relieves the pain but it comes back as soon as I release.
Avatar n tn I've had what the doctors call cluster migraines for about 15 years. I've been many times to the doctor, although when I was younger they said there was no pills for this type of thing. They will come often, mostly a constant pressure that will build up now and again for weeks or months at a time, with short reprieves for a month or two.
1102283 tn?1257817472 Hi Juniper! First-line acute migraine medications are triptans. There are currently 7 triptans on the market, plus one triptan that is also mixed with an NSAID called Naproxen. I believe that fast acting triptans are the best in most situations because they work the fastest. Fast acting triptans come in orally disintegrating tablets or nasal sprays. I personally use Zomig Nasal Spray and find it works extremely well. I also have found great success with Maxalt-MLTs.
Avatar m tn The most effective triptans are the quick-absorbing triptans, such as Zomig Nasal Spray, Maxalt-MLTs, or Imitrex Injection. Imitrex Injection is rarely used since it is an injection, but Zomig Nasap Spray or Maxalt-MLTs are simple to take and usually work for most people. Sometimes people use a medication called Naproxen in combination with their triptans, and that works very well.
518798 tn?1295212279 I have been eating advil and excedrin tension headache. I have been digging looking to see if I can find some imitrex here. I had a prescription years ago and I don't think I used them all, but that was "back in the day" and I don't really know what I have/had. With all the excitement of the weather here and my kids and husband all being shut up in this house for 2 days already, the noise and craziness has gotten to me.
Avatar f tn I was originally prescriped Stadol NS for migraines during my two pregnancies since I could not take Imitrex. After my first pregnancy five years ago I was able to stop with no problem and no side effects. After my second pregnancy and now that my child is almost two years old, I cannot seem to stop snorting this ****. I know that it is mostly physchological for me. I guess I like the escape feelings I experience after taking it, the relaxation and calming effect.
341655 tn?1240368839 what is the difference between the imitrex injections and pills? Which is more effective and prescribed more?
1046692 tn?1255391835 Is it safe to take Lexapro and Imitrex? There is a warning on the package against this but I thought I would ask the professionals first.
1056589 tn?1273747102 If you suffer from some other types of medical conditions too, Imitrex should not be taken. Do not take Imitrex if you have underlying cardiovascular diseases, if you have uncontrolled hypertension, if you are taking MAO-A antidepressants or and do not take Imitrex if you have severe hepatic impairment.
Avatar m tn I have had migraines for many years, but within the last three to four years my migraines are worst then ever. I have taken so many medications, I can't keep up. I'm currently taking imitrex spray 20 mgs. I'm concern because nothing helps and I always end up with more pain and side affects. Is there anything natural I can do?
Avatar f tn does either imitrex or maxalt contain caffeine? I was taking Maxalt for migraines and it worked great! Now my insurance has decided I need to try Imitrex before they will approve coverage for the Maxalt. The Imitrex took about 2 hours to have any effect, but eventually my headache subsided. Since then I have had recurring headaches for 4 days.
