imitrex

Avatar m tn Tenofovir alafenamide (TAF), a new formulation that reaches higher levels in cells but allows for lower dosing, was as effective as the current tenofovir disoproxil fumarate (TDF) formulation but had less impact on markers of kidney function and bone turnover, researchers reported at the 53rd Interscience Conference on Antimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy (ICAAC 2013) this week in Denver.
Avatar f tn I don't have much of a question, but wanted to introduce myself. I've periodically had migraines throughout my life, but they were never very often. However, that changed since I've been diagnosed with lupus and fibromyalgia (as well as other chronic pain issues). Especially since the fibro was discovered (about 15 years ago), my migraines have increased in frequency. The week before last, I had 3 in that week alone.
Avatar n tn I have heard a lot of people complain about the new formulation of Oxycontin .It is called OP I think .Purdue made this new formulation to stop people from abusing it but I have heard a lot of CP patients complain that it doesn't work as good as the old formulation .There is a substance that turns to a gel to keep people from snorting it or shooting it up and that may be what is causing it to not dissolve correctly .That's my best guess about it though .I would talk to my Dr about this .
Avatar m tn I am so glad that you asked about imitrex! I take a triptan, like imitrex, and personally I think that triptans are the best treatment for acute migraines, and they are also the most prescribed medication for acute migraines.
1046692 tn?1255391835 Is it safe to take Lexapro and Imitrex? There is a warning on the package against this but I thought I would ask the professionals first.
Avatar f tn I use imitrex and that seems to help get rid of them sometimes. I have been to Mayos Clinic, allergy clinics, had a hysterectomy, and to a Univ. Hospital. I am at the end of the line. I am getting 2 to 3 a week. The last drug I tried, Verampamil, is what the Mayos Dr. suggested. I did find out I had sleep apnea so now I don't wake up with a migraine. I'm getting older and I'm getting tired of the pain. What else is there to try?
Avatar f tn I am pretty loyal to Imitrex. But always at max dose of 200mg. There is a new drug from makers of Imitrex called Trixamet. It is Imitrex plus an NSAID. I got a sample from my doc. I loved it. Trixamet is supposed to be covered by any insurance that takes Imitrex, but mine doesn't cover it. Maybe yours will. Hope I helped.
635402 tn?1270162477 On May 16, Glaxo-Smith-Kline Pharmaceuticals, the makers of Imitrex, announced that they were releasing a new drug for the treatment of migraines. The new drug is to be called TREXIMET and according to the makers, was to be a vast improvement over Imitrex. Like Imitrex, it is made to be taken at the onset of a migraine, but is supposed to work faster and better to reduce migraine pain.
Avatar n tn How can I tell if I have the "old" or the "new" formulation of Armour thyroid?
Avatar f tn so there is no reason to become an addict or to crave the medication, but ones body will still become highly dependent on the medication to a point that if you take the body off the medication abruptly you can cause seizures and even death... Imitrex is NOT like that!! Imitrex does not cause any sort of high or euphoria so you cannot become addicted to it, you will not "crave" it when you are not in pain...
Avatar n tn After a recent appointment, my neurologist wants to begin treating me for migraine. Because of lightheartedness associated with my symptoms, though, she ordered a tilt table test. The hospital could not schedule my test until about two from today. So I'm wondering - can I start taking these new medications or can they potentially "mask" whatever might be found on the tilt table test?
606423 tn?1271824088 Are you happy with the new Armour formulation? I guess they changed their formulation or something along thos lines and thats why there is a shortage. A lot of us have switched to other natural brands such as Westhroid and Naturethroid.
Avatar f tn I've heard Imitrex is good, but i've never taken it....but research it too...lol I don't think it's addictive but we used to think trams weren't either...ha! hope you feel better soon girl....you are doing great btw!! reaching out and researching meds.....way to go girl!! rock on hagateer!!!
Avatar n tn I nee help. My mom is 45 and she has terrible headaches everyday. She takes Imitrex. She takes it everyday. She had bad headaches since 10 years ago, but now it's everyday that she has one. It's been like that for a month? What is wrong with her? I hope it's not some kind of tumor. Would migraine pill work for headache caused by tumor?
Avatar n tn Hi I noticed a lot of comments on the "New" formulation of the Armour Thyroid tablets. I never got pills from my pharmacy with the "A" I swear all of mine were blank with no logo. I noticed this last batch has the "A" logo, is whiter and does not split in half well at all. Were there Armour tablets with no logo before? I am so confused and upset by this whole problem with this medication. I feel like buying a pig farm and learning how to make the stuff myself.
Avatar n tn A while after it was reformulated, the FDA stopped production and shipments for several months, many people switched to other brands at that time and never went back. I used the new formulation for several months before it became unavailable nation wide. It is believed that the new formula which uses micro crystalline cellulose as a filler (Nature Throid changed to that as well), makes the hormone not absorb as well.
1401696 tn?1280838616 No not anymore as the new formulation did not do well for my thyroidless daughter. However, I did successfully and slowly move her over from a lifetime of Synthroid only to the original Armour (which she did great on) 1 1/2 years ago. The new Armour formula has more cellulose and less dexstrose in the fillers and binders and her freet4 dropped drastically on this and her freet3 dropped substantually. Had severe joint pain and fatigue on it within 2 weeks.
Avatar f tn If you received the brand name only ODT version then I would make sure the MD writes for only generic drugs and ask the pharmacist (who should have mentioned it came in generic in a different formulation) if there is something similar that the MD can change it to before you pay a lot for a RX. Good pharmacies will catch this issue and fix it before you even arrive to pick it up.
341655 tn?1240368839 what is the difference between the imitrex injections and pills? Which is more effective and prescribed more?
1056589 tn?1273747102 If you suffer from some other types of medical conditions too, Imitrex should not be taken. Do not take Imitrex if you have underlying cardiovascular diseases, if you have uncontrolled hypertension, if you are taking MAO-A antidepressants or and do not take Imitrex if you have severe hepatic impairment.
Avatar f tn I do not see any labs listed with your post or comparisons so it is not clear if after the new formulation your numbers may have dropped a bit. How you feel is your best guide to doseage so if you don't feel well it may be in need of tweaking. Many people say the TSH is useless on combined therapy and that they feel best with the free T3 in the high normal range and the free T4 in the upper third or half.
Avatar f tn Hi, welcome to the forum, your history is suggestive of that you may be having drug allergy to vitamin formulation. You may be hypersensitive to any component of the formulation. From your history it is suggests that you are intolerant to formulations of vitamin esp. if lactose or lactose like base is used. You need to discontinue the vitamins and go for other brands having different components. See whether you are comfortable with the new drug.
Avatar f tn Hi. Are you in the US? If so, the answer to your question is that Teva, like all of the CRAB manufacturers, charges as much as it does because it can. It's that simple. They will tell you how expensive it is to research new drugs, most of which never pan out, and they're right. They do need to recoup these costs, and they do need to make a profit or they'd be out of business, and then we'd all suffer.

Avatar f tn Has the Dr ever prescribed imitrex? I suffer migraine headaches. As well. Just a question, your Dr has you on pain pills for another ailment, right?
