Imitrex nausea

Common Questions and Answers about Imitrex nausea

imitrex

Avatar f tn They are typical migraines - severe, pounding headache on one side (usually the left for me), light sensitivity, sound sensitivity, nausea/vomiting. I would typically just try and "ride it out" - taking my normal meds, going in a dark, quiet room and trying to stay as still as possible until the headache, etc., would pass. However, since I had so many the week before last, I decided it was time to ask my doctor about them when I saw him last week.
Avatar n tn I'm not a doctor, but every time I get a migraine, which I've been getting for 16 years, I've noticed that during the most severe migraines, I'm very nauseous and even thrown up...which made my migraine so bad, that I had to got o the hospital for pain meds. The only medicine that got rid of my migraine (and the nausea) was Imitrex. I've even gotten the imitrex shot. Have you tried Imitrex?
Avatar m tn I am so glad that you asked about imitrex! I take a triptan, like imitrex, and personally I think that triptans are the best treatment for acute migraines, and they are also the most prescribed medication for acute migraines.
Avatar n tn Besides the vision problems I am experiencing a watery right eye, sore neck, diarrhea, runny/stuffy nose, and nausea all at different times throughout the day. My doctor gave me some oxycodone at first to treat the headaches and then went on to give me imitrex and a z-pack for the cold symptoms. It has been about 11 days since my first bad headache and last night I took my first imitrex because I felt another bad headache coming on.
561539 tn?1216438257 I took imitrex for the second time ever over the weekend. I stopped over 24 hours ago and still might right side of nose and face from cheek up is completely numb. the medicine should be out of my system by now. i have a regular md appt tomorrow because i'm scared. is it medicine damage (which should be out of my system) or is it migraine damage?
Avatar n tn I know that I suffer from chronic migraines and when mine get really bad I get nausea. That is because next to blacking out nausea is the next most severe reaction our body has to pain. It can also be something else related to a different condition though so you definitely need to see a doctor. Good luck!
974371 tn?1424653129 I think I have had about every test done. I was having nausea when getting up in the morning. Now, it continues during the day and after I eat. I take Omeprazole and Gas-x and use Pepto . My GI doc says he is out of things to give me and told me to contact the specialist in San Francisco that did the motility test. I did and they said they will discuss it next week at my appt and to contact my doctor here!! My Doc here suggested maybe I go to the Mayo clinic. Oh right!! I'm in CA!!
Avatar f tn Whatever kind I have do not respond to imitrex but are better with tegretol. However, the weakness in my hand is constant. Is that permanent? What about the pain in my foot? And the sensation that my foot is frozen? They are not better, no matter what. Is this temporary or something I will have to deal with from now on? And does everyone with hemiplegic migraines have nausea and vomiting? I do not have either. But the confusion and brain fog are really bad.
1508698 tn?1360215710 hi sorry you are having the headaches...i used to get them as well....luckily i haven't had one in a long time....i've read that Imitrex isn't a narcotic so maybe ask about that?? i don't know anything about it, never taken it but a friend of mine did....and when i had them, i took Excedrin Migraine..otc...it seemed to help. hope you feel better soon!!
Avatar n tn ve had issues with headaches and other issues with dizziness/nausea. The other day, I felt like I was going to pass out, almost like low blood pressure? My level of tiredness has increased rapidly. I'm always tired. It is starting to affect my work and school. I have an appointment with my General Practitioner, but I would like some advice as to A) what this might be and B) anything I should ask her during my appointment, if I need to. I appreciate any and all feedback. Thank you.
341655 tn?1240368839 what is the difference between the imitrex injections and pills? Which is more effective and prescribed more?
1046692 tn?1255391835 Is it safe to take Lexapro and Imitrex? There is a warning on the package against this but I thought I would ask the professionals first.
1056589 tn?1273747102 If you suffer from some other types of medical conditions too, Imitrex should not be taken. Do not take Imitrex if you have underlying cardiovascular diseases, if you have uncontrolled hypertension, if you are taking MAO-A antidepressants or and do not take Imitrex if you have severe hepatic impairment.
1125820 tn?1265284446 The bioavailability of Imitrex tablets is pretty pathetic, honestly, so Imitrex Injection is VERY different then Imitrex tablets or Imitrex Nasal Spray. Also, which Maxalt did you try? Did you try the regular Maxalt tablets or the Maxalt-MLTs? The Maxalt-MLTs are the orally disintegrating tablets. The Maxalt-MLTs work better than the regular Maxalt tablets. If you haven't tried Maxalt-MLTs yet, I would suggest giving those a try too. Which Zomig did you try?
1389553 tn?1280782127 I was taking Imitrex for a while but, I did not like the way I felt-it caused my heart to beat too fast, felt I was surley gonna pass out. I am still taking Topamax to help preventing these headahces. It don't seem to help me. It is progressing, I had a hysterectomy last year of June of 09. I had Fibroid tumor in my uterus, I get severe cramping and migraines. I was pleased the cramping is no longer there but, I still get these terrible terrrible migraines. It made a lot worse.
Avatar f tn does either imitrex or maxalt contain caffeine? I was taking Maxalt for migraines and it worked great! Now my insurance has decided I need to try Imitrex before they will approve coverage for the Maxalt. The Imitrex took about 2 hours to have any effect, but eventually my headache subsided. Since then I have had recurring headaches for 4 days.
Avatar n tn Im a 28 year old female, my migraines seem to have gotten worse with age I was put on Imitrex (pill) did not help. Just today I started to have some pressure on the sides of my head near the temples and tension in my neck, I would normally say its just sinus pressure as I do have sinus trouble but this is different then usual it was sudden and felt a little light headed and a little sick to my stomach.
Avatar n tn t get imitrex tablets, get the imitrex or generic nasal spray or imitrex or generic injection OR treximex tablets but NOT imitrex tablets. - Zolmitriptan. brand name Zomig. this is what i use. (although i have used all of them at some point) don't get the tablets... like imitrex, the tablets don't work. But, the nasal spray DOES work incredibly well and this is what is usually prescribed anyway. - Almotriptan. brand name Axert. a very powerful triptan tablet.
Avatar f tn so there is no reason to become an addict or to crave the medication, but ones body will still become highly dependent on the medication to a point that if you take the body off the medication abruptly you can cause seizures and even death... Imitrex is NOT like that!! Imitrex does not cause any sort of high or euphoria so you cannot become addicted to it, you will not "crave" it when you are not in pain...
1100598 tn?1413127426 I discovered that for a hemiplegic migraine that opiates actually work better than triptans. But for now Imitrex is what I have. I take Promethazine for nausea and when I have to take a trip to the ER, they give me a headache cocktail which includes Toradal and some other stuff I can't remember, which works great. Thanks for the information! I will give you an update after I see my new neuro. on Dec. 7th.
Avatar f tn I am pretty loyal to Imitrex. But always at max dose of 200mg. There is a new drug from makers of Imitrex called Trixamet. It is Imitrex plus an NSAID. I got a sample from my doc. I loved it. Trixamet is supposed to be covered by any insurance that takes Imitrex, but mine doesn't cover it. Maybe yours will. Hope I helped.
Avatar n tn and so i decided not to continue the chiropractic therapy and since then i noticed that i started to get the headaches regularly, most of the time, before my menses. my pain threshold is low and since my headaches come with nausea and vomiting, i have no other choice but to take orphenadrine citrate as soon as i notice the beginning signs of my headache.
Avatar m tn So migraine is not just the usual half sided three day long pulsating headache with nausea and noise and light sensitivity. It can give you very strange symptoms. I am sure a lot of you know that. My question is if triptans help against these strange chronic forms of migraine as well? And could they then be used for diagnostical purposes? Anyone knows? What are your experiences with triptans?
518798 tn?1295212279 Good Morning guys! I woke up with another migraine this morning. This is the 3rd one this month. I usually have about 2 in a year, but never this close together and this often. I have been taking 1 imitrex when I have a headache. My question is, "Is Imitrex habit-forming?" I have researched all the websites, but they also say that ultram isn't habit forming. I was just wanting some info from someone who has taken it.
