Common Questions and Answers about Imitrex dosing schedule

imitrex

709686 tn?1277432159 of all migraines hit me about 2pm. When I got home I took a 10mg Imitrex tablet and laid down. Now these Imitrex tablets make me very sleepy so once the headache began to fade I went soundly asleep around 6pm and slept until 6am. Since I skipped dinner last night I was quite weak this morning until I ate breakfast. I only took one 10mg norco tablet during this time as I am on my "taper" schedule. I was quite proud of myself.
Avatar m tn I am so glad that you asked about imitrex! I take a triptan, like imitrex, and personally I think that triptans are the best treatment for acute migraines, and they are also the most prescribed medication for acute migraines.
Avatar f tn I don't have much of a question, but wanted to introduce myself. I've periodically had migraines throughout my life, but they were never very often. However, that changed since I've been diagnosed with lupus and fibromyalgia (as well as other chronic pain issues). Especially since the fibro was discovered (about 15 years ago), my migraines have increased in frequency. The week before last, I had 3 in that week alone.
Avatar f tn Recommendation for missed PI dose is if within 4 hrs of normal dosing time to go ahead and take it and return to normal dosing schedule if more than 4 hrs skip it and return to normal dosing schedule
707563 tn?1626361905 Hi everyone - We've had to delete quite a few posts lately about tapering. While it's ok to talk about it, we can't not allow people to give tapering schedules, dosing info, etc., as only a doctor can do that. Please read the top 2 posts in this forum for posting guidelines. Thanks for understanding.
Avatar f tn Is there a safe way to detox at home from Fioricet (butalbital)? I can't find an inpatient program where I live & I really want to stop taking this drug. My doc keeps telling me it ok to use it for headaches/migraines & keeps prescribing it. I've used it for nearly 30 years & I know most of my headaches are rebounds. I have also used Imitrex, but it's alot more expensive & doesn't always work. Any & all suggestions are welcome.

Avatar m tn My doctor suggested monitoring for the first 24 hours after my first shot for when the onset of any side effects occured and then adjusting when i gave myself the shot so that the onset or most of the "WORST" of the sx occured while I was sleeping. So, if you get the shot at 11 am and at 5pm you start notcing sx then adjust the next time you get a shot so that you do it 6 hours before you'll be asleep.
Avatar n tn After a recent appointment, my neurologist wants to begin treating me for migraine. Because of lightheartedness associated with my symptoms, though, she ordered a tilt table test. The hospital could not schedule my test until about two from today. So I'm wondering - can I start taking these new medications or can they potentially "mask" whatever might be found on the tilt table test?
Avatar f tn While a BID dosing schedule is nice, the fundamental cooperative toxicity between interferon, ribavirin and a protease inhibitor must be factored into the mix, Chung added. BID dosing will not make more patients get treated now, agreed Dr Susannah Naggie, assistant professor of medicine, Infectious Diseases, Duke University. The new regimen will not make a difference for someone who has already decided to wait, she said.
Avatar f tn m not sure if my body had simply grown tolerant being on the same dose dly for 5-6 yrs or if it was because of the increased demands my body had to go through this past year, but I made the difficult decision to increase my oxycontin to 50mg three times dly. I have also been on fioricet and imitrex PRN for my many headaches and migraines. I suspect that my headaches have increased in frequency and intensity to the point that I have them daily because of all the meds I take.
1103688 tn?1257894552 t take Imitrex because it causes me to have severe heart palpitations (bad enough that I have to be hospitalized - I've only been given it once, and that was all it took). The thing that works best for me as a preventative is Excedrin - just plain old, over-the-counter Excedrin, but the problem with this is that I have multiple digestive problems, among which is the tendency to develop gastric ulcers, and my gastroenterologist would really like it if I would stop taking Excedrin.
Avatar m tn Yeah, sorry about any possible miscommunication. The Incivek dosing schedule of three times a day has to to do with the relatively short half-life of Incivek. Taking each dose with 20 grams of fat has to do with increasing absorption & bioavailability. Even though someone's doctor may have said otherwise it would be helpful to provide the Incivek Product Monograph to show the dosing schedule has changed.
Avatar m tn Honestly, I would just skip it and resume your normal dosing schedule in the am. You are on a every 12 hour schedule, and it would be one thing if it were just off by a little, but you are off by 6, 7 hours.. Not that it would harm you in any way, but you may end up with a few unpleasant side effects, especially since you're dosing twice daily. If you find yourself frequently forgetting to take a dose...then find a way to remind yourself.

Avatar n tn Take Xanax only at the times it has been prescribed for you to take it. If you feel you need to add to, or change your dosing schedule, your doctor is the only one who can answer this question.
341655 tn?1240368839 what is the difference between the imitrex injections and pills? Which is more effective and prescribed more?
1046692 tn?1255391835 Is it safe to take Lexapro and Imitrex? There is a warning on the package against this but I thought I would ask the professionals first.
Avatar m tn Preliminary pharmacokinetic analyses of pre-dose samples taken on day 8 of dosing in approximately 50 patients in this study indicate that trough concentrations in those patients receiving a twice-daily dosing schedule are similar to trough concentrations of a three times daily dosing schedule, and are also similar to trough concentrations observed in PROVE 1 and PROVE 2.
1056589 tn?1273747102 If you suffer from some other types of medical conditions too, Imitrex should not be taken. Do not take Imitrex if you have underlying cardiovascular diseases, if you have uncontrolled hypertension, if you are taking MAO-A antidepressants or and do not take Imitrex if you have severe hepatic impairment.
1569985 tn?1328247482 Regular dose is 600 mg. and I am only on 300 mg. Maybe I should just go back to my regular dosing schedule in the morning?
1646889 tn?1301481228 I have been on Armour for a couple of years now and still am having challenges with dosing, as I am in finding a Dr. that truly understands Armour. I was taking 30 mg in morning 7am an hour prior to food, and taking 30 mg at 11 am hour before food. I am extremely sensitive to the spikes (which don't bother me) and the crash (which is a problem). Even with my dosing schedule, I begin functioning at a very low level around 5-6pm.
