Imitrex blood pressure

Common Questions and Answers about Imitrex blood pressure

imitrex

Avatar m tn I know that a lot of people here have high blood pressure and use triptans, and I have a very high pulse and take blood pressure medication and still use triptans... so I am pretty sure your high blood pressure thing is fine... but check with your doctor if you are not sure. So... the last question. Does it work? Well... it depends when you take it and what type of a triptan you have, really. If you take your triptan, the imitrex, at the first sign of a migraine, YES it will work!!
1590979 tn?1302006835 does anyone have any tips for the pressure and tightness feeling in the head and neck? or for the passing out feeling?it's driving me nuts!
518798 tn?1295212279 Imitrex is very hard on the system, gives you high blood pressure among other things. Yes it may stop being as effective if you take it regularly. My wife has had chronic migraines that do not go away for the past 7 years, although they vary in pain severity. She has used just about everything you can think of prescribed by several different doctors including injections into the lower back of the skull. Try having your Doctor rotate your meds every so often.
Avatar f tn I don't have much of a question, but wanted to introduce myself. I've periodically had migraines throughout my life, but they were never very often. However, that changed since I've been diagnosed with lupus and fibromyalgia (as well as other chronic pain issues). Especially since the fibro was discovered (about 15 years ago), my migraines have increased in frequency. The week before last, I had 3 in that week alone.
Avatar f tn The CDH could also be secondary to trauma, raised intracranial hypertension, high blood pressure, cervical disorders like pinched nerves, temporal arteritis etc. Hence apart from medicines it is important to rule out various causes of headaches. You should consult a migraine and headache specialist. There is a similar discussion on MedHelp which may interest you: http://www.medhelp.org/posts/Neurology/DAILY-HEADACHES-MIGRAINES/show/294752 Hope this helps.
Avatar f tn Sinusitis, refractive errors of the eye, migraine, cluster headaches, brain tumors and aneurysms, high blood pressure, tension headaches, temporal arteritis, pinched cervical spinal nerve, TMJ, poor or disturbed sleep etc are several causes of headaches. Dental pain and ear ache due to infection or impacted wax can cause similar symptoms. Needless to say, a persisting headache should be investigated. Please consult a headache and migraine specialist to rule out these causes one by one.
435241 tn?1208575531 Aneurysms occur due to weakness in the walls of cerebral artery or vein. They are usually congenital effects, but can also be due to high blood pressure or atherosclerosis or head trauma. A small unchanging aneurysm may not produce any symptoms but a large aneurysm will produce symptoms like headache, loss of consciousness, vision impairment and vomiting. These symptoms occur especially when the aneurysm is about to rupture.
518798 tn?1295212279 I have been having headaches daily for the past 10 days. I thought it was due to the construction (painting and flooring) going on at work. Last night was horrible. I threw up all day and generally felt like a big pile of dog doodoo. When I woke up this morning, I still had a headache and took my blood pressure. Took it 3 times and each time the bottom number was over 100. I think the highest was 174/110.
1056589 tn?1273747102 If this happens to you, tell your healthcare provider before taking any more IMITREX Tablets. If the chest pain, tightness, or pressure is severe or does not go away, call your healthcare provider right away. • Call your healthcare provider right away if you have sudden and/or severe abdominal pain after you take IMITREX Tablets.
Avatar n tn Im a 28 year old female, my migraines seem to have gotten worse with age I was put on Imitrex (pill) did not help. Just today I started to have some pressure on the sides of my head near the temples and tension in my neck, I would normally say its just sinus pressure as I do have sinus trouble but this is different then usual it was sudden and felt a little light headed and a little sick to my stomach.
Avatar f tn I used to get so many migraines and I was taking imitrex injections. When I moved the migraines got worse from stress and I started taking the imitrex daily, sometimes even multiple times a day. After about 3 months of this I started getting heart palpitations. They got so bad that I stopped taking my imitrex (cold turkey) on the whim that it was causing them. The palpitations started getting worse, but I had now talked myself into having a fear of imitrex (that it would kill me).
341655 tn?1240368839 However an injection will provide quick relief from migraine pain as it reaches faster into the blood stream as compared to pills. Imitrex injection provides relief in about 10 minutes. Injections are usually prescribed in people who want quick relief from rapid onset migraine or suffer from morning migraines. Hope this answers your question.
397977 tn?1201264847 They also raised my blood pressure, alot! So, I went off them. Almost 26 had my first baby, only had one or 2 migraines during my pregnancy. Then during labor (huge change in hormones) I had a mega migraine in the hospital. Then slipped back into my monthly migraines plus in between and heavier periods. Had my second baby at age 29 and started getting heavier and heavier periods and migraine after migraine.
Avatar f tn No. Why could that play a roll in it? And if so what do I do?
Avatar f tn Leave it in for a few minutes and the coolness pulls the blood from your head to release some pressure. In my experience it doesn't take the headache away completely, but it definitely helped with the pressure of my consistent headaches in my first trimester. Hopefully that helps!
Avatar f tn I agree Maxalt seems to be the better drug especially the MLT version as it gets into the blood stream much quicker. If after few more tries with Imitrex you don't find relief, ask your Doctor for a letter stating you failed to obtain relief with Imitrex and request that your prescription carrier allow you to continue with Maxalt. That should help you.
Avatar n tn I nee help. My mom is 45 and she has terrible headaches everyday. She takes Imitrex. She takes it everyday. She had bad headaches since 10 years ago, but now it's everyday that she has one. It's been like that for a month? What is wrong with her? I hope it's not some kind of tumor. Would migraine pill work for headache caused by tumor?
Avatar f tn But it seems to get better each day. Main thing I am fighting now are these daily head aches. They get SO BAD. My blood pressure is not high. I take 800mg ibprofen and it doesn't even touch it. Any help or advice would be wonderful. Yay for 10 days clean. Proud of myself.

(http://www.drugs.com/sfx/imitrex-side-effects.html) Migraine manifests differently with each person. Avatar f tn tachycardia (or fast heart beat), labile blood pressure, dizziness, flushing, tremor, etc. Since you are also on Synthroid (or levothyroxine), you may experience faster heart rates if the dose is too high for you. I do not know if your heart rate readings are due to nortriptyline, combination with Synthroid, or something else. However, I strongly recommend for you to consult your provider as soon as possible.
Avatar n tn You need to call the lab where the tilts are done and ask what drugs interfere with the tilt table test protocol and they will have you go over your med list and tell you which meds you need to go off and also how far in advance you would need to be off of them; if you do need to go off meds, you'll then need to talk to your doc or pharmacist to find out if you need to taper off or can go cold turkey on/off the meds for the test.
Avatar f tn Atenolol, Cozzar, and Clondine blood pressure. Elavil for nerve somthing. I have seen a nerologist and he said I should be fine by now. Still having problems what can I do, and why is'nt this thing going away.
Avatar f tn I am having trouble determining whether my migraine medication, Imitrex, is one them. Sumitriptan and naproxen are not on the list, but since this drug narrows blood vessels, I wonder if it's best not to take it before surgery.
Avatar n tn ve been suffering from this for years and went to see an opthomologist 2 years ago who also told me there was no unusual ocular pressure, blood clots or presence of tumor. Please let me know if you find out any new information and I will do the same.
