imitrex and tylenol

Ask your doctor for Imitrex 100mg, is not narcotic, non addictive and it takes away your migraine right away. I'm also a migraine surferer and have tried a lot of medications and Imitrex works wonders.

I am having trouble determining whether my migraine medication, Imitrex, is one them. Sumitriptan and naproxen are not on the list, but since this drug narrows blood vessels, I wonder if it's best not to take it before surgery.

I have suffered exploding head syndrome (also known as migraines) for many, many years. I found that Imitrex didn't work and when they were severe would have to go to the hospital and be shot full of demerol and vistaril (an antihistamine that made me sleep). It was not until I could sleep would they go away. That sometimes was several rounds from bounceback migraines and I'd be in the ER for days (happened about 4 - 6 months ago).

I take Imitrex when I get them, and it usually works great, but today I have taken the maximum dose on my Rx for a 24 hr. period (200 mg) and it's still not gone. I am wondering if I went to the ER, is there something else they could do -- could they give me more Imitrex, or another triptan or something else to try to stop it? I don't want opiates. Any thoughts appreciated.

Welcome to the forum. I am very sorry to hear you are having bad migraines. I have a long history of migraines and so had to have a med I could take on treatment. I opted for Imitrex because it is okay with the Peg, Riba, and Incivek. Interestingly enough, I have not had any bad migraines on treatment but I think that is because I know most of the migraine triggers and have avoided them like the plague.

Thanks for replying, I have not had imitrex before but have had relpax and fioricet for migraine attacks in the past. And yes, the pain med has nothing to do with the migraine, but for a plethora of other issue....I only mentioned it as that was why I did not think to ask about why they were increasing my dose on the new med. I fully understand about the Tylenol concerns and trust their treatment plan for me.

does either imitrex or maxalt contain caffeine? I was taking Maxalt for migraines and it worked great! Now my insurance has decided I need to try Imitrex before they will approve coverage for the Maxalt. The Imitrex took about 2 hours to have any effect, but eventually my headache subsided. Since then I have had recurring headaches for 4 days.

Well, I had problem with script to fill Imitrex medicine couple years ago.... it only supplys 9 and only covers one any type of migraine medication PER month. When I ran out of it, I asked my doctor to give me script for more Imitrex and I dropped script off at Walgreens then few minutes later, pharmacist told me that insurance was not covering that...

I am so glad that you asked about imitrex! I take a triptan, like imitrex, and personally I think that triptans are the best treatment for acute migraines, and they are also the most prescribed medication for acute migraines.

s experience with the imitrex has been - good or bad - and if they have any other tips of things I can try (non-medicinal) to reduce the pain, etc., of the migraines. Fortunately, (knock on wood), I haven't had a migraine since I saw my doc on thursday, so I haven't tried the imitrex yet. I'm always leary/hesitant about ANY new medication, so would definitely appreciate any advice about this med that anyone might have. Thanks so much!

I always get migraines with my period and at least another 2-3 a month from various causes. Imitrex 100mg is the only thing that helps me but i dont want to take it because i am 7 weeks and dont see my dr until week 10. I'm on day 2 of a migraine now. Im drinking lots of water, took tylenol, keep putting cold packs on my head and neck, but nothing is helping. Im going crazy. Anyone have the same issue or any suggestions? Help!

Took a hpt yesterday and saw the VERY faint line and family MD did a yes/no blood test, and while it was faint as well, it was a yes. AF wasn't supposed to even show till tomorrow so I'm not even 4wks. We are praying all goes well and can't wait to hold our blessing in our arms! My question-i suffer from migraines related to hormones and have taken Lortab about once a month after I can't handle the pain any longer. Today the full blown migraine is so close.

That reinforces my belief that not only am I getting the headaches from the Interferon, but also the Ribavirin. Orleans, I thought Imitrex was for migraine?

I have been put on everything from narcotics (which I refuse and hate) to Beta Blockers. (Which Do help) Currently on Propanol. But my very FIRST and ONLY time using Imitrex Oral Capsule. I took the medication and I was sitting in my reclining chair and in about 15 mins I became paralyzed for 2.5-3 hours. I had no other medications in my system. I DO NOT use drugs or drink alcohol. Only Imitrex. My husband honestly thought I was joking. I could not lift my head.

Advil is not migraine medication and can cause problems by making headaches worse. Imitrex is migraine medication that is specifically for migraine and it will stop a migraine. Most migraines do not come with aura. Take that into consideration when you get a headache that feels exactly like your regular migraine just without an aura. That means you are having a migraine. You don't need an aura to have a migraine. Take your migraine medication for a migraine.

I know I have Imitrex and I'm on Topamax for preventative. This is more tension than migraine...it's almost as painful, but different type of pain. And the Imitrex only works if it's a true migraine and I've wasted the last 3 Imitrex hoping it would help, and those suckers aren't cheap!!! But I REALLY appreciate the advice....I really do.

I am the worst mommy I miscarried today and the reason we think it happen was Friday i got a migraine and knowing it is not pregnancy safe I still took my imitrex smfh I am not sure how I am going to be able to forgive myself for acting so selfish

My husband takes dilanitin for seizures. He had to take a drug test for a job and tested positive for barbituates. Does any one know if this is common?

Water was pretty much the only thing that worked for me. Not sure what week he is on, but hopefully this sx will subside as his body adjusts. Good luck to you both.

The only medication that help me is a cocktail of 2 aspirins, 2 Tylenol and 2 Motrin 800mg, if I catch it at the beginning. I f is too late,Imitrex 100mg works for me, specially the injection, pills are prone to take effect a bit later, but the injection is inmediate .

I've been having a headache for two days and my drs currently off for vaca at the moment im in my 2nd trimester any thing will help I keep google-ing different ways to find out what other moms do but nothing so far help pleaseee .

I've been having headaches for the last month and everytime I tried taking tylenol still hurts. and I hurt so bad I cry myself to sleep. I rather not go to the hospital cuz doctors and nothing but stupid. and I've no idea what else to do. Imitrex is also not the only triptan on the market, there are quite a few. If you do end up using the Imitrex and you feel you have an adverse reaction to it, one that is not life-threatening but one that you do not enjoy... there are still other triptans to try.

I have been having severe migraines for the past year and a half. I've been on 3 different medications including, inderal 10 milligrams which stopped working, inderal 25 milligrams which caused me to black out and get dizzy, and amitriptyline 25 milligrams, which stopped working. I'm concerned because after talking to my doctor he looked at my charts and noted that I relapse with migraines every three months. These migraines are so severe it keeps me from doing my every day activities.
