I have chronic pancreatitis with pseudocysts & calcification, I also have an enlarged pancreatic duct and history of bile duct sclerosis. I have systemic sclerosis and have chronic gastric ulcers (no H-pyloric) and food bezoars for 10 years. I am supposed to be on liquid diet (I am not) and have gastroparesis and have gained 40 pounds in past two years. I have hypothyroidism for 33 years and empty sella syndrome.

s idea, because I asked him about Treximet and he told me I could just take my regular triptan and naproxen at the same time. Also, oh, I didn't put Treximet down as an option, I am so sorry!! It's so new that I completely forgot about it! Oops, umm... for anyone taking it just put Imitrex down I guess since that is the triptan in the medication. And then explain about it in the comments? I am really sorry about that!!! The thing I don't like about Zomig Nasal Spray is the taste...

I am a 25 year old female with chronic migraines. I am on preventive medication for my migraines but I still get several migraines a week. Since I was diagnosed in 2008, I have used many different abortive medications for when I get a migraine. It seems almost as if my body either builds up a tolerance to these medications, or my migraines grow in severity and become to powerful for the medication. It could also be a combination of both.

what medicine have you tired? I find my Treximet to be pretty effective. When its not I have an Imitrex to shot to use.

does either imitrex or maxalt contain caffeine? I was taking Maxalt for migraines and it worked great! Now my insurance has decided I need to try Imitrex before they will approve coverage for the Maxalt. The Imitrex took about 2 hours to have any effect, but eventually my headache subsided. Since then I have had recurring headaches for 4 days.

I am so glad that you asked about imitrex! I take a triptan, like imitrex, and personally I think that triptans are the best treatment for acute migraines, and they are also the most prescribed medication for acute migraines.

s experience with the imitrex has been - good or bad - and if they have any other tips of things I can try (non-medicinal) to reduce the pain, etc., of the migraines. Fortunately, (knock on wood), I haven't had a migraine since I saw my doc on thursday, so I haven't tried the imitrex yet. I'm always leary/hesitant about ANY new medication, so would definitely appreciate any advice about this med that anyone might have. Thanks so much!

t get imitrex tablets, get the imitrex or generic nasal spray or imitrex or generic injection OR treximex tablets but NOT imitrex tablets. - Zolmitriptan. brand name Zomig. this is what i use. (although i have used all of them at some point) don't get the tablets... like imitrex, the tablets don't work. But, the nasal spray DOES work incredibly well and this is what is usually prescribed anyway. - Almotriptan. brand name Axert. a very powerful triptan tablet.

I have been put on everything from narcotics (which I refuse and hate) to Beta Blockers. (Which Do help) Currently on Propanol. But my very FIRST and ONLY time using Imitrex Oral Capsule. I took the medication and I was sitting in my reclining chair and in about 15 mins I became paralyzed for 2.5-3 hours. I had no other medications in my system. I DO NOT use drugs or drink alcohol. Only Imitrex. My husband honestly thought I was joking. I could not lift my head.

Advil is not migraine medication and can cause problems by making headaches worse. Imitrex is migraine medication that is specifically for migraine and it will stop a migraine. Most migraines do not come with aura. Take that into consideration when you get a headache that feels exactly like your regular migraine just without an aura. That means you are having a migraine. You don't need an aura to have a migraine. Take your migraine medication for a migraine.

Ask your doctor for Imitrex 100mg, is not narcotic, non addictive and it takes away your migraine right away. I'm also a migraine surferer and have tried a lot of medications and Imitrex works wonders.

So, what other options are there. I have tried Treximet and Relpax…..they are non-narcotic/barbiturate/opiate, but they are MAJOR expensive…and only take the edge off. p.s. I did a very fun thing today. I went through my house and found all other prescription meds that I don’t want/need or that I fear will be addictive. I put them in a small box and had a little fire in my back yard. Sounds kind of weird, but it was very therapeutic for me!

Is it safe to take Lexapro and Imitrex? There is a warning on the package against this but I thought I would ask the professionals first.

Imitrex is also not the only triptan on the market, there are quite a few. If you do end up using the Imitrex and you feel you have an adverse reaction to it, one that is not life-threatening but one that you do not enjoy... there are still other triptans to try.

Usually the bioavailability of a nasal spray will be higher than the bioavailability of a oral tablet, such as with the triptan Zomig, where the bioavailability of the oral tablets is 40% and the bioavailability of the nasal spray is 102% (when the bioavailability is higher than 100% it means that the medication by that route works better then it would by intravenous injection), although this sort of increase between oral administration and nasal administration is not the case with Imitrex.

I have suffered exploding head syndrome (also known as migraines) for many, many years. I found that Imitrex didn't work and when they were severe would have to go to the hospital and be shot full of demerol and vistaril (an antihistamine that made me sleep). It was not until I could sleep would they go away. That sometimes was several rounds from bounceback migraines and I'd be in the ER for days (happened about 4 - 6 months ago).

For the past 11 weeks i have been getting daily (some times more that once a day) headaches which at best can be described at feeling like I have been shot in the head just above and behine my ear and at worst in my head, into my ear and right down to my neck and sholder. I have been to the doctors 3 times but they just keep telling me to take paracetemol/codeine. Ordinary pain killers dont help.

m not sure if my body had simply grown tolerant being on the same dose dly for 5-6 yrs or if it was because of the increased demands my body had to go through this past year, but I made the difficult decision to increase my oxycontin to 50mg three times dly. I have also been on fioricet and imitrex PRN for my many headaches and migraines. I suspect that my headaches have increased in frequency and intensity to the point that I have them daily because of all the meds I take.

I have had a migraine all day today. The pain is awful. I've never heard of alkaline water! I'll try it. I can't take any type of migraine meds such as imitrex Maxalt treximet etc because of the anxiety meds I'm on. They interact. So we are trying amitriptyline at night. Hopefully it helps! I still feel like I want to give up. Like I'll never have the energy and upbeat feelings I did when I had the pills. I'm sad all the time, moody, tired and grumpy.

so there is no reason to become an addict or to crave the medication, but ones body will still become highly dependent on the medication to a point that if you take the body off the medication abruptly you can cause seizures and even death... Imitrex is NOT like that!! Imitrex does not cause any sort of high or euphoria so you cannot become addicted to it, you will not "crave" it when you are not in pain...
