imitrex

Avatar m tn Since I started to wean off my Xanax addiction I quit taking the Vicodin and Tramadol, except for 1 day had bad migraine and none Imitrex pills, my insurance only covers 9 pills and paying them is more than 200 dollars. The point is that I do not feel side effects or W/D effects from quitting the Vicodin and Tramadol. It this possible? I didn't even knew Tramadol was an opiate until I joined this community.
Avatar m tn If you must take tramadol, do not take it at the same time as fluoxetine. Try to take tramadol and imitrex a few hours apart from the fluoxetine.
Avatar f tn does either imitrex or maxalt contain caffeine? I was taking Maxalt for migraines and it worked great! Now my insurance has decided I need to try Imitrex before they will approve coverage for the Maxalt. The Imitrex took about 2 hours to have any effect, but eventually my headache subsided. Since then I have had recurring headaches for 4 days.
Avatar m tn I am so glad that you asked about imitrex! I take a triptan, like imitrex, and personally I think that triptans are the best treatment for acute migraines, and they are also the most prescribed medication for acute migraines.
Avatar f tn s experience with the imitrex has been - good or bad - and if they have any other tips of things I can try (non-medicinal) to reduce the pain, etc., of the migraines. Fortunately, (knock on wood), I haven't had a migraine since I saw my doc on thursday, so I haven't tried the imitrex yet. I'm always leary/hesitant about ANY new medication, so would definitely appreciate any advice about this med that anyone might have. Thanks so much!
Avatar f tn When I looked it up it said that certain anti-depressants and tramadol can have bad interactions like those. Another one is imitrex and paxil. They gave me imitrex when I was hospitalized with migraines and was taking paxil. My heart rate plunged to 33 bpm and my blood pressure went to 170/100. My husband was freaking out and googled imitrex on his phone while the nurse had been putting it in my IV, so he told them right away. "Those meds interact!
Avatar m tn Yes I have migraines and back pain as well. I take Imitrex for my migraines and Ibupropin. I also have a migraine variant that started in my 20's and I was throwing up all night and stomach pain but no migraine to start with. I couldn't get diagnoses until I saw a neurologist who did an EEG and it was positive for a migraine/seizure pattern. She tried antidepressants to get me to sleep so I wouldn't throw up and it worked for a while. Finally, they gave me Klonpin.
Avatar n tn I have been put on everything from narcotics (which I refuse and hate) to Beta Blockers. (Which Do help) Currently on Propanol. But my very FIRST and ONLY time using Imitrex Oral Capsule. I took the medication and I was sitting in my reclining chair and in about 15 mins I became paralyzed for 2.5-3 hours. I had no other medications in my system. I DO NOT use drugs or drink alcohol. Only Imitrex. My husband honestly thought I was joking. I could not lift my head.
1051752 tn?1253833456 Advil is not migraine medication and can cause problems by making headaches worse. Imitrex is migraine medication that is specifically for migraine and it will stop a migraine. Most migraines do not come with aura. Take that into consideration when you get a headache that feels exactly like your regular migraine just without an aura. That means you are having a migraine. You don't need an aura to have a migraine. Take your migraine medication for a migraine.
Avatar m tn Today I went to see a neurologist today, and hopefully try to get him to get an MRI of my pituitary gland and thyroid, but he only prescribed some Imitrex (100mg), Propranolol (20mg), tramadol (50mg), and ibuprofen (800mg) for migraine headaches, I get them on and off, sometimes they are pretty bad but anyway that was all, and he didn’t see any other reason to have an MRI done.
Avatar n tn Ask your doctor for Imitrex 100mg, is not narcotic, non addictive and it takes away your migraine right away. I'm also a migraine surferer and have tried a lot of medications and Imitrex works wonders.
Avatar f tn Hi, I am new here and looking for a little support as I decided to detox from vicoprofen and tramadol 2 days ago. Im not sure if it was a good idea to do both at once but here I am. Ive been on the two for migraines and neck pain for about 2 years and I knew they werent doing me much good all the way aroun. I noticed a difference in my life in every aspect and want to be the person I was before.
1046692 tn?1255391835 Is it safe to take Lexapro and Imitrex? There is a warning on the package against this but I thought I would ask the professionals first.
1056589 tn?1273747102 Imitrex is also not the only triptan on the market, there are quite a few. If you do end up using the Imitrex and you feel you have an adverse reaction to it, one that is not life-threatening but one that you do not enjoy... there are still other triptans to try.
Avatar m tn I have been clean from Vicodin 5/500mg and Tramadol 50mg for about a week now, and I'm in a long term tapering of Xanax.I have not experienced any discomfort from the Xanax withdrawal due to the slow tapering process but since two days ago and today is the worst, I have been feling severe migraines and severe pain in the muscles of my back and neck, specially arund my shoulder blades, where some " knots" are forming and are very painful to the touch.
1079216 tn?1258200805 Usually the bioavailability of a nasal spray will be higher than the bioavailability of a oral tablet, such as with the triptan Zomig, where the bioavailability of the oral tablets is 40% and the bioavailability of the nasal spray is 102% (when the bioavailability is higher than 100% it means that the medication by that route works better then it would by intravenous injection), although this sort of increase between oral administration and nasal administration is not the case with Imitrex.
979080 tn?1323433639 I have suffered exploding head syndrome (also known as migraines) for many, many years. I found that Imitrex didn't work and when they were severe would have to go to the hospital and be shot full of demerol and vistaril (an antihistamine that made me sleep). It was not until I could sleep would they go away. That sometimes was several rounds from bounceback migraines and I'd be in the ER for days (happened about 4 - 6 months ago).
Avatar f tn m not sure if my body had simply grown tolerant being on the same dose dly for 5-6 yrs or if it was because of the increased demands my body had to go through this past year, but I made the difficult decision to increase my oxycontin to 50mg three times dly. I have also been on fioricet and imitrex PRN for my many headaches and migraines. I suspect that my headaches have increased in frequency and intensity to the point that I have them daily because of all the meds I take.
Avatar f tn so there is no reason to become an addict or to crave the medication, but ones body will still become highly dependent on the medication to a point that if you take the body off the medication abruptly you can cause seizures and even death... Imitrex is NOT like that!! Imitrex does not cause any sort of high or euphoria so you cannot become addicted to it, you will not "crave" it when you are not in pain...
Avatar m tn Now I find that I am sensitive to it along with just aspirin, acetaminophen, ibuprofen, and naproxen sodium. My physician prescribed Tramadol to try, but that also makes me feel bum. Does anyone know of any medication that might work? I don't really want to go into the heavy-duty meds, as I've never liked feeling "medicated". Otherwise, the heating pad, ice pack, and self-massage help. Accupuncture?
Avatar f tn I have missed out on so much the last 2 years because of my addiction to lortab/tramadol. I lost my father to cancer I sat everyday watching him getting weaker and weaker, and right beside him I emotionally did as well.
