Imitrex and lasik surgery

Common Questions and Answers about Imitrex and lasik surgery

imitrex

Avatar n tn That plan sounds like it will be very time consuming and expensive with very low success rate. Also astigmatism should not cause headaches that last to the next day and require imitrex. I suggest you see a neuro-ophthalmologist as you may have an eye muscle disorder like convergence insufficiency. You can find one near you at www.geteyesmart.
Avatar m tn My question is, lets say down the road I would opt for a strabismus surgery, would it in anyway affect my lasik surgery or if the lasik surgery would make me not a good candidate for a future strabismus surgery ? Thanks in advance.
Avatar n tn Do floaters increase with lasik or lasik type surgery?I already have a lot of floaters that have been checked 4 times. I am fearful of lasik but am having a hard time with contacts so may look in to it.
Avatar f tn The vitrectomy will make the cataract progress and will make future cataract surgery more difficult. Get a few opinions to determine the cause of the problem. Have you tried drops to constrict your pupil? Dr. O.
Avatar f tn There is some risk with any surgery and the risk of LASIK is higher given your retina holes. It depends on how important it is for you to get out of glasses or contacts. Know that if the LASIK works perfect and you don't need glasses you will start to need glasses in your mid 40's and as you get into your 50s and 60s you will be in progressive bifocals for reading. If your glasses RX is -2.
Avatar m tn a followup please, if vision is correctable by replaceable contacts then any surgery, even lasik, is then considered elective and therefore an/most insurance companies wont pay for it? the cost to him is on the order of $100/mo (seems high to me, but..) i'm not sure what/if any portion his insurance company pays. but if they are paying, long-term wouldnt they be ahead, assuming lasik surgery, rather than the monthly $$ for contacts?
Avatar n tn Surgeon did not want to go back inside the eye but did suggest, lasik surgery to reshape cornea and remove the astigtism that the toric IOL could not remove and do this at no cost to me to . My question is how safe an sucessful is the lasik proceedure? I will still need glasses to read and drive at night. Could a toric contact lense be an option after catarack surgery?
Avatar f tn Can someone explain why it is more risky and what exactly posterior polar means? Also add to this that I had Lasik surgery to correct my distance vision back when I was in my early 30's.
Avatar f tn I have recently had a consultation for Lasik surgery and the optomitrist noticed some scarring on one of my retinas. I did not know it was there and have not had any vision problems or anything due to the scar. Is it safe to proceed with Lasik surgery?
Avatar f tn Anyone else diagnose with optic neuritis after Lasik surgery? I lost permanent vision in my right eye a few weeks after having the PRK Lasik procedure done! I was tested for other diseases such as MS but nothing was found! I was told it was just coincidental. Any thoughts anyone?
Avatar m tn My son-in law had lasik surgery last summer(2012) and everything was going well, until about 4 and a half months ago. He is seeing starbursts and streaking and has been back to the Lasik doc and 2 other Doctors. His vision is not the problem....20/20 but these other issues are driving him crazy!!! He now is on a sleep aid and going to a shrink as he sees these starbursts and streaks all the time now! He had a physical and all his blood sugar etc are good except for a little low on vitamin D.
Avatar f tn Hi can anybody suggest me whether should I go for LASIK surgery event I had a macular hole surgery 10 years ago. will it safe for me to go for lasik surgery OR will It increase my macular hole problem worst.
Avatar n tn Hello I have high myopia with both eyes about 10.00 diopter and had LASIK 4 years ago. Vision is pretty good 20/20. Do you think for my case I can go to ski with friends. Cause you know i was told by my doctor i need to avoid strenuous crash with people and hard things like ground. When i ski you know it is unavoidable that i will hit the snow ground or crash with other people. is that acceptable for my eyes. Pls kindly advise. also do i need eye shield?
Avatar m tn For moderate astigmatism, a LASIK eye surgery has proven effective, and gives you freedom from wearing glasses or contact lenses. This surgery reshapes the inner layer of your cornea (shaped like a football for a person with astigmatism), to treat astigmatism.
Avatar n tn I had Lasik surgery done 12 years ago and both of my eyes before the surgery were -15.0. The Dr did 2 Lasik surgeries on each eye over an 8 day period and the results were .-5(left) and -1.25(right). About 24 months later, the left eye had regressed to about -1.75 and another Lasik was performed to bring it back to -.5. Since then, the left eye has remained stable, but the right developed a macular tear which I had to have a vitrectomy performed to repair.
Avatar m tn It's really terrible that she didn't double check this information before your surgery. I had lasik and cataract surgery after and my results turned out great. I'm pretty sure your surgery will need to be redone and I personally wouldn't have lasik done to correct it, but wait and see first as Dr. Hagan suggested.
Avatar n tn Doctor said I have thick cornea which will support LASIK surgery but due to high myopia and also there was a test conducted and the test names starts with Pa as I don't exactly remember it. Doctor had opened some graph which is a result of the test and said according to the graph my eyes dont support Lasik. Could you please give me your comments?
Avatar f tn One thing no one mentioned to me is that Lasik alters your eye and makes it difficult to get the correction right when you have cataract surgery. I had Lasik four years ago and never imagined that I would develop cataracts that got so bad in a matter of a few months that I had to have surgery to be able to see. That's when I found out that the correction is difficult after Lasik.
7560840 tn?1392007755 It is not likely that lasik would be able to correct all of your myopia. However depending on the thickness of your cornea and its radius of curvature and the length of your eyes a type surface laser (PRK) might reduce the numbers 6-7 diopters to -4 and -1.00 to 0.00 You would need to see an Eye MD ophthalmologist that specializes in corneal/refractive surgery.
1580703 tn?1651904887 Steroid eye drops can raise the eye pressure also. Reading will not cause glaucoma, no matter how small the print. I would recommend that you see a glaucoma specialist for a complete evaluation. You should also have a refraction to determine what prescription will give you the best vision, and hold off on LASIK for now.
Avatar f tn I am having trouble determining whether my migraine medication, Imitrex, is one them. Sumitriptan and naproxen are not on the list, but since this drug narrows blood vessels, I wonder if it's best not to take it before surgery.
Avatar n tn I posted a couple of months ago--I am 67 and had lasik about 9 years ago. With advice from surgeon,, (since I had mono-with left eye for reading/ right eye for distance with prior lasik) for cataract surgery opted to go with mono again with toric iol. Surgeon replaced left lens with toric (allegedly for reading/computer work) and plan to do right eye for distance next month.
Avatar m tn I did modeling prior to lasik and now, post lasik, I have large dark bags under my eyes and the top of my eyes are continuously puffy - where it hurts to keep them open. Like Scoobydoo999, I do have proof that my eye area was clear of bags and puffiness prior to the lasik (via my career). Aging in the form of large, dark bags and swelling doesn't happen overnight, to the same area, to a mass amount of people, post lasik for no reason.
Avatar n tn No responsible Dr would want do an elective surgery and take relatively small problem of vision correction and do the surgery and potentially cause much bigger problems. People with Hashimoto's Disease do not generally suffer from dry eyes and therefore sometimes Lasik surgery is possible, depending on your individual health history.
