imitrex

1046692 tn?1255391835 Is it safe to take Lexapro and Imitrex? There is a warning on the package against this but I thought I would ask the professionals first.
Avatar f tn does either imitrex or maxalt contain caffeine? I was taking Maxalt for migraines and it worked great! Now my insurance has decided I need to try Imitrex before they will approve coverage for the Maxalt. The Imitrex took about 2 hours to have any effect, but eventually my headache subsided. Since then I have had recurring headaches for 4 days.
1079216 tn?1258200805 Usually the bioavailability of a nasal spray will be higher than the bioavailability of a oral tablet, such as with the triptan Zomig, where the bioavailability of the oral tablets is 40% and the bioavailability of the nasal spray is 102% (when the bioavailability is higher than 100% it means that the medication by that route works better then it would by intravenous injection), although this sort of increase between oral administration and nasal administration is not the case with Imitrex.
Avatar m tn I am so glad that you asked about imitrex! I take a triptan, like imitrex, and personally I think that triptans are the best treatment for acute migraines, and they are also the most prescribed medication for acute migraines.
Avatar f tn s experience with the imitrex has been - good or bad - and if they have any other tips of things I can try (non-medicinal) to reduce the pain, etc., of the migraines. Fortunately, (knock on wood), I haven't had a migraine since I saw my doc on thursday, so I haven't tried the imitrex yet. I'm always leary/hesitant about ANY new medication, so would definitely appreciate any advice about this med that anyone might have. Thanks so much!
Avatar f tn Did not help this time. Ibuprofen helps a little but not for long. I also have pain in ear and behind left eye. Please help if you can. I have no insurance and cant see a Doc. for something that is more than likely nothing.
1386405 tn?1291587800 hi this i defo something no about with my last pregnancy i had severe headaches and i was taking ibuprofen i was taken them all the time but i finally went to the doctors because the pain wouldn't settle and the doctor said DO NOT take ibuprofen just take cocodomal i think thats how you spell it lol.
Avatar m tn Opiods will be more addicting, because they make you feel good. Ultram is addicting because it numbs and calms your senses. Imitrex doesn't feel addicting, but it affects your mind, and yes, can be addicting to many people. Again, anything that affects your mood or changes you - can be addicting. Everything from Allergy Pills, to cough syrup, to percocet, to sniffing glue - can be addictive. Just because the research doesnt support it at this time, doesn't rule it out.
9584843 tn?1404686658 m to take the Topamax and ibuprofen everyday and the Imitrex only when I have and episode with headaches. So maybe this will help me out. But as everyone suggested keep a detailed log of all symptoms before and after you start any meds. That way you can show your doctors and they will be able to adjust or take you off it completely if its not benefitting you. Good luck on your journey!
Avatar f tn I have a long history of migraines and so had to have a med I could take on treatment. I opted for Imitrex because it is okay with the Peg, Riba, and Incivek. Interestingly enough, I have not had any bad migraines on treatment but I think that is because I know most of the migraine triggers and have avoided them like the plague. Before treatment, I was taking Cafergot and a tiny dose of Tylenol # 3 when I got the migraines, which was not often these last few years.
20841174 tn?1531305522 t take Tylenol or Ibuprofen too often or Imitrex (triptans) they can cause migraine rebound headaches. I took Trokendi XR for 3 years due to migraine variant but it has very bad side effects. I am trying to get off of it. I have one month to go. I take clonazempam for my vomiting at night it is a benzodiazepine, and then when I started getting the headaches I took imitrex. My neurologist said I can take 100mg. So I would ask a neurologist to see what they think is good for you.
Avatar m tn } A little bit on my background I have gotten them out of shape and in shape, diet dialed in and regular sleep sometimes right after a good workout session, 2 or three a month or just 1 a year. I am at a complete lost and I don’t want to waste my money on the wrong doctors that start shoving me pills and pray…. I have been told about a equilibrium has some think to do with it if so how can I test that theory.
Avatar n tn I have been put on everything from narcotics (which I refuse and hate) to Beta Blockers. (Which Do help) Currently on Propanol. But my very FIRST and ONLY time using Imitrex Oral Capsule. I took the medication and I was sitting in my reclining chair and in about 15 mins I became paralyzed for 2.5-3 hours. I had no other medications in my system. I DO NOT use drugs or drink alcohol. Only Imitrex. My husband honestly thought I was joking. I could not lift my head.
1103688 tn?1257894552 Mind you, I generally avoid ALL over-the-counter medications when it comes to acute migraine treatments because they all have the potential to cause rebound headaches and they all have the potential to trigger migraine headaches. Especially any product containing acetaminophen and ibuprofen, this includes things like Midrin and Excedrin. Although, the problem here is that you have mentioned that you have had problems in the past with Triptans and my first suggestion is always triptans.
2069693 tn?1331365365 As of now Ive had a migraine for 7 straight days! Its horrible!!! Ive taken Demerol, imitrex, tylenol/cod., Ibuprofen (with caffeine), tomamax...on and on. can someone please suggest, or give me some feed back !
1051752 tn?1253833456 Advil is not migraine medication and can cause problems by making headaches worse. Imitrex is migraine medication that is specifically for migraine and it will stop a migraine. Most migraines do not come with aura. Take that into consideration when you get a headache that feels exactly like your regular migraine just without an aura. That means you are having a migraine. You don't need an aura to have a migraine. Take your migraine medication for a migraine.
Avatar m tn I have been having severe migraines for the past year and a half. I've been on 3 different medications including, inderal 10 milligrams which stopped working, inderal 25 milligrams which caused me to black out and get dizzy, and amitriptyline 25 milligrams, which stopped working. I'm concerned because after talking to my doctor he looked at my charts and noted that I relapse with migraines every three months. These migraines are so severe it keeps me from doing my every day activities.
Avatar f tn Thanks Tuck and also femmy29,i did go to a pharmacy for advice and have been told i can use both, but it is important to follow the dosage instructions on the packet.
518798 tn?1295212279 This is the 3rd one this month. I usually have about 2 in a year, but never this close together and this often. I have been taking 1 imitrex when I have a headache. My question is, "Is Imitrex habit-forming?" I have researched all the websites, but they also say that ultram isn't habit forming. I was just wanting some info from someone who has taken it.
Avatar n tn Ask your doctor for Imitrex 100mg, is not narcotic, non addictive and it takes away your migraine right away. I'm also a migraine surferer and have tried a lot of medications and Imitrex works wonders.
Avatar m tn Today I went to see a neurologist today, and hopefully try to get him to get an MRI of my pituitary gland and thyroid, but he only prescribed some Imitrex (100mg), Propranolol (20mg), tramadol (50mg), and ibuprofen (800mg) for migraine headaches, I get them on and off, sometimes they are pretty bad but anyway that was all, and he didn’t see any other reason to have an MRI done.
670160 tn?1225680898 I would suggest you to lie down in dark quiet room and apply cold compresses to the head and neck. A cup of coffee may also help. Continue with Ibuprofen and do some self relaxation exercises like breathing exercises and meditation. Most likely it seems to be a migraine attack. Magnesium supplements have been known to help with migraine attacks. If the headaches continue to persist, please see a physician as other medication for migraines like Imitrex are available only on prescription.
1056589 tn?1273747102 Imitrex is also not the only triptan on the market, there are quite a few. If you do end up using the Imitrex and you feel you have an adverse reaction to it, one that is not life-threatening but one that you do not enjoy... there are still other triptans to try.
