397977 tn?1201264847 They started in high school and I have been able to manage them but lately they have become debilitating. I changed birth control pills in October 2007 from Orthonovum to Yaz. I had been on Orthonovum for 20 plus years. The YAZ helped the PMS symptoms I was having really well but I would get terrible headaches at the beginning or end of my cycle.

Avatar n tn Birth control pills are generally safe and considered a good option for many women to prevent pregnancy. There are different types and working with your doctor to find the best one is the thing to do. This is between you and your doctor but it is untrue that taking birth control pills 'has side effects on your whole reproductive system" unless you consider it doing what it is supposed to while taking it, preventing pregnancy.
Avatar f tn suggested I go back on BC pills (which I have been off for about 4 years now) to see if it will help with symptoms. I started BC pills and took 1 month....I feel AWFUL. Horrible heartburn and nausea every single day. Heartburn so bad that when I lay down sometimes I feel like I'm going to throw up. I persevered and thought I would see if it worked itself out. After my 21 day pack was gone and I was on my week off.....all heartburn and nausea stopped.
Avatar f tn ) I have done tons of research over the past 25 years and I can tell you birth control pills are NOT the way to go. Ultimately the choice is yours and hers, and any thing I say is just advice of course.
Avatar f tn Hello, Since you had unprotected intercourse but you are having birth control pills so chances of pregnancy are less. If you are apprehensive regarding the status of pregnancy then the status of pregnancy needs to be made clear. To confirm the status of pregnancy, I suggest you to test for pregnancy by a highly sensitive pregnancy test 10 days post ovulation with a sensitive ( 20 - 25 mIU ) pregnancy test.

Now my insurance has decided I need to try Imitrex before they will approve coverage for the Maxalt. The Imitrex took about 2 hours to have any effect, but eventually my headache subsided. Since then I have had recurring headaches for 4 days.

Avatar n tn I just started taking my birth control pills and i am on the "sugar" pills now. I havent started my period yet do i still keep taking the pills??
Avatar n tn You should not take birth control pills for any reason, if you are pregnant. Its unfortunate that you are pregnant so young, but what's done is done, and its time to do the really adult thing and tell your mother or other trusted family member about the pregnancy. No more time to be a child You'll need to see an obstetrician, and get some advice about the migraines as soon as you can. And to get started on your important prenatal care.
Avatar f tn m not sure if my body had simply grown tolerant being on the same dose dly for 5-6 yrs or if it was because of the increased demands my body had to go through this past year, but I made the difficult decision to increase my oxycontin to 50mg three times dly. I have also been on fioricet and imitrex PRN for my many headaches and migraines. I suspect that my headaches have increased in frequency and intensity to the point that I have them daily because of all the meds I take.
