Common Questions and Answers about Imiquimod hpv

aldara

Avatar n tn I was prescribed Aldara (imiquimod) to get rid of a few perianal HPV warts since cryotherapy was only making it worse. After only about 2 weeks of usage almost all symptoms of the warts were gone however I now have perianal psoriasis in its place. That is one of the side-effects of imiquimod and it mainly strikes people whom are genetically prone to having psoriasis.
Avatar m tn s sebaceous which is not serious but he asked me to do a hpv test. However, the test showed I have the hpv 52 and hpv 59. The doctor gave me Imiquimod and asked me to go back three months later. Here is my question. 1, I read your posts and found hpv is quite common among adults. So do I need to worry about it? And will hpv 52 and 59 cause warts? 2, Is it useful for me to use Imiquimod with no genital warts? Or does Imiquimod useful to help me clear the hpv virus in three months?
Avatar f tn Speak to your family doctor. Or go see your GYN. Or to Planned Parenthood. Get yourself tested for HPV. If he has warts, you have been infected. That you have not shown any visible warts doesn't mean you don't have it. Sex with active warts is unwise for his recovery. Get the vaccine to protect you from strains that you don't already have. This isn't a big deal for most. Who gave it to who is not important.
Avatar f tn Hello, my son was diagnosed with anal warts HPV in april 2014. The warts were surgically removed and the area treated with imiquimod. There were no further warts and he visited his proctologist a couple more times and all is ok In October 2014 he was diagnosed with hodgkins lymphoma stage 2. He was treated with 4 rounds of chemo (etoposide, Adriamycin, vinecristyn, citoxan and bleomycin). Thank god he is in remission and is a healthy guy today.
Avatar n tn So I have genital warts obviously caused by HPV. I got the TARO brand Imiquimod cream to remove them. It seems to be working, but now where that portion of the shaft that is being treated makes contact with the scrotum, it's causing what seems to be jock Itch. Is this possible or just an unlucky coincidence?
Avatar m tn we do leave a light on around here for ya to come back :) is it likely that this is the first partner you've ever had who has had hpv? no it is not. it's very common and studies show that 1 out of every 3 of us has had hpv in the genital area at one time or another. bottom line is - obvious warts are a cosmetic issue - no different at all from a wart on the hands or feet except of course location.
Avatar f tn Are skin tags resistant to imiquimod cream? Is it possible it is not HPV but in fact just a skin tag and the dermatologist was too quick to diagnose? Please help. Thank you.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with vaginal HPV warts a year and half ago by a gynecologist. I was successfully treated with Imiquimod cream for 3 weeks and confirmed that all visible warts had cleared. 6 months later I noticed 2 bumps in the perianal region (not where my original outbreak occurred and very unlike the vaginal warts) and sought treatment at Planned Parenthood where the practitioner removed them with TCA thinking that they could be HPV warts.
Avatar m tn Ofcourse after I have made several researches, talked with a few people, and seen the doctor, I had contracted HPV in the anus area. The doctor prescribed me Aldara which is a cream to treat genital warts. I was told to apply it 3 times a week, and Ive been doing it so, until a week ago when I researched all about Aldara and it says to do it twice a week. I am currently in week 8. So The warts are gone.. they were gone on week 4, but now the issue is this.
Avatar f tn warts are due to HPV virus, they develop and dont clear or reappear from time to time in people with damaged immune system due to unhealthy diet and life styles it is treated by imiquimod an interferon inducer cream, while doing imiquimod vitamin c by liposoms or injection (not normal vit c which is not absorbed by the stomach, only 10-16% gets absorbed by stomach), vitamin d3, good diet of fresh vegetables only, very little meat, sugars, fats, good sleep 8hrs minimum
Avatar f tn I started using imiquimod last week for hpv warts around my anus and it has been working but I am unable to walk without wanting to puke due to pain. Can't use the bathroom without pain either. So I decided to take a look and I have blisters by my vagina due to the medicine! Its unbelievably painful! What do I do?!
Avatar m tn then why do some reports suggests that hpv do get cleared fmr the body by the immune system over time???is this fake?does hpv stays in your body for life???what if the warts does not recurr for 2/3yrs is the person considered safe n virus free?does having sex on mc days increases the chance of getting warts?CAN HPV BE TREATED OFF PERMENANTELY BY THE IMMUNE SYSTEM?
Avatar m tn Hi there, I recently had my first genital wart outbreak last October (about 6-7 months ago) and have had recurring wart outbreaks ever since. I've gone to my doctor to get them burned off 3 times now with the most recent time being yesterday. She was surprised to see me back again and with so many warts (I had 8-10 this time that she burned off). She showed a bit of concern at first and asked if I have ever gotten an HIV test.
Avatar m tn I finally went to a doctor who looked at it and told me I have genital warts. However all my tests came back negative. I got tested for everything to HPV to HIV to Herpes, it was full panel test. Someone told me it could possible be Molluscum Contagiosum? Any thoughts? And whats the best way to get rid of this? My doctor gave my Imiquimod Cream but it seems to be making it worse Thanks.
Avatar m tn Stimulation with TLR7, TLR8 and TLR9 agonists did not significantly induce IP-10 or IL-6 production and, with the exception of imiquimod, did not inhibit HBV replication. Interestingly, the antiviral response induced by imiquimod was independent of innate immune activation, suggesting an additional mode of action that should be further investigated.
Avatar m tn because it was not there before. Could this be HPV? The antifungal lotions are not working. Should I try to get Imiquimod or Tazarotene to rid of this redness and spot? What if doxycline does not resolve meatus inflammation? I have been two urologists and three dermatologists. Should I opt for a biopsy? This is causing severe mental stress. Please help. Your time and help is greatly appreciated.
Avatar m tn I managed to get hold of imiquimod and put that on, but it has not made any difference. Is this HPV? They do not hurt or cause any symptoms. There is just a very significant difference in my glans on one side of the meatus to the other, and it was not there before. The complexity is that I am married. I had an HIV test which was negative. Included is a photo and the area of concern is on the side of my hand.
Avatar n tn -- and nobody specializes specifically in HPV infections. Most dermatologist know as much about HPV as anybody else.
Avatar f tn I was referred to a gynecologist who suggested trying imiquimod. I decided to try tea tree oil, before trying imiquimod. The tea tree seemed to increase the itch, so I filled the imiquimod. I've since tried one application, I should be applying again this evening, but this point I am so stressed about the whole ordeal, I am thinking I should just get them surgically removed. They are now around my vaginal area, labia up to my anus (I apologize for being graffic...
Avatar m tn ve never had warts and while I understand I may well have had the virus at some point in my life and in fact probably already have had hpv. Prior to her I hadn't had sex for 5 or six years. I understand that it is possible I have carried the virus for 5 or 6 years, but based on what I've read it seems unlikely I would have been the cause of this current infection. I also noticed on here that her doctor's information on recurrences seems to be inaccurate.
Avatar f tn Hello, I am a 43 yr. old female. I just found out I had HPV in Oct. If course very scared and freaked out. This site has really helped me and I thank you for this. My Dr. gave me Vlyoma. 1x per night for 4 weeks. I am on my 3rd week but I've had to take a break. I am extreamly red and swollen. It has cleared the tiny warts that I did have however I can't really tell if they are gone as I think I need to heal. My questions are: is this cream simular to Aldera?
Avatar n tn My doctor burnt them off, but 2 or 3 weeks later I got another one in a different area in my pubic hair region, I burnt it off and now today, 2 weeks or so, I found a few more in my pubic hair region. I read that there is such a thing as low risk HPV... Does this mean I have high risk and that I have no chance of them ever going away? Or will I be able to live like a normal male again and get my self-confidence back? I just want to live normally again...
Avatar m tn I have read they are extremely contagious, but on this post site, it says they are not. I have read, all forms of HPV are spreadable, through contact, if there are abrasions to the skin, etc. Is there anything I can do to speed up the disappearance of the flat warts? They were confirmed by my dermatologist, but I was told, they will go away in a year or 2.
Avatar m tn Hi. I was diagnosed with HPV five years ago. Since that time, I've met different doctors who tried to treat the warts with cryosurgery first and then Trichloroacetic acid. No matter how often we would do the treatments, the warts kept coming back. Three months ago, a doctor gave me the cream Vyloma. For the first time, I saw encouraging results. I used the for 8 weeks, as prescribed. The warts were gone but now (3 weeks later), I see that a small one seems to be coming out again.
Avatar m tn Unlike molluscum wherein the virus resides on the lesion, the HPV virus of warts may reside in skin cells for certain periods .It is best to have this removed through cautery or freezing. This will not be very comforting and this may take time to heal but the treatment is more definite than mere topical medications alone.
