Common Questions and Answers about Ideal weight vs healthy weight

weight

Avatar n tn Hello, I am a 29 year old female, 5'4 and 131 pounds. I recently lost over 100 pounds in the course of a year through diet and exercise. (starting weight 244 in September of 2010). I have always been overweight, and now have a lot of excess skin, which is to be expected. My question is about my ideal weight. My goal started at 150 pounds, then 140, then 130, now I'm thinking my ideal would be 120.
Avatar n tn but yeah it can be different if your short/tall over/under weight pre pregnancy and what not.
Avatar n tn Your ideal weight depends on your age, as well as your height and weight. A child's ideal weight will be different from that of a teenager and a teenager will be different from that of an adult. There are a variety of exercises that will burn fat.

1938479 tn?1325705620 If Arnold Schwarzenegger was to use a BMI (weight vs height) chart while bodybuilding, it would have classified him as obese. Another way to look at fat versus muscles is that a cubic inch of muscle will weigh more than a cubic inch of fat. Muscle is about 18 percent more dense than fat. So a better question is am I in shape or do i need to convert more areas of fat to muscle? With that said, here is a weight chart that should only be used to give you an idea, so don't take it as gospel.
Avatar f tn Hi there and thanks so much for posting this question I would suggest that at your age you are careful with changes in your metabolism. What is metabolism? Metabolism is a collection of chemical reactions that takes place in the body's cells. Metabolism converts the fuel in the food we eat into the energy needed to power everything we do, from moving to thinking to growing. If you want to lose weight The safest amount of weight you can lose is anything from .5 to 2 lbs a week.
Avatar f tn Im 126 pounds and im a kid and im trying to loose this b3cause my dodctor said im overweight so im trying to be 80 pounds
1419937 tn?1302557849 s extremely important for us to recognize that being overweight at any age is not as healthy, and can increase our risk of chronic diseases. To answer your question, I expect that your weight is higher than is ideal for your age and height - but I think it's very important to involve your parents and pediatrician in any plan to lose weight - you want to go about it in a healthy way that will be successful for you.
Avatar m tn Are you really saying that all of us that HAVE lost serious weight through proper diet and exercise are wasting our time or are you just not happy with the results of your efforts? I know what the ideal BMI is and I have that as my goal. To say EVERYONE has a predisposed weight they can never alter is either an excuse or just plain backwards thinking.
Avatar m tn BTW I doubt you lost 4lbs of fat today, probably most of it is water weight. Best to lose weight gradually anyway -- like 1-2 lbs per week. Not sure what your nurse means by "make no diff".
Avatar f tn your best weight depends on several factors besides your age. How tall are you? What is your body type, i.e., small boned, large boned, average boned, medium boned. The best thing to do is type into your internet, "Ideal weight, or what is my ideal weight"? The internet will help you figure it out. I am 5'11" tall and my ideal weight would be 105 lbs. (if I were younger) to 112 lbs. I have a small frame.
Avatar f tn I've been eating healthy food vs what I usually eat and drinking lots of water and yes doc says baby measures a week ahead
Avatar n tn The weight sounds ok for a female puppy. At this age she should have that roly poly look about her, loose skin that springs back into place very playful when awake.... with bright clear happy eyes. Trying to chew on anything and everything in site (watch out for your shoes ) There is a very good Labrador forum in the UK just google Labrador Forum and it is one of the first to come up.....
Avatar f tn s a lot to gain at what you are. Ideal weight is 25 to 30 pounds. But you were very thin to begin with so I think you are just fine! Your body needs fat for energy for your growing baby with my last son I started at 118 and when I finally had him I was 142.
Avatar n tn And how can I get back to my previous weight a healthy way? My weight was always steady and I felt more comfortable at 130. I know this must sound crazy with today's world where people are trying to lose weight but I am having a problem gaining weight. Any suggestions? Thanks.
Avatar m tn Depending on what your healthy ideal weight is, 15kgs loss could be a good thing! I was 100+ kgs a few years prior to surgery, due to hypo symptoms being undiagnosed. I forced myself to lose weight and was 93 the day of my first surgery and 87kgs at the second surgery 5 months later. Now down to 73 after having put on a few kilos since going back to being hypo. My ideal weight is around 66 kgs. But 10 over is ok.
Avatar f tn I am 5 feet 4 inches, with weighing 115 lbs before pregnancy and now I am in 27 week and weighing 150lbs. I was at ideal weight before pregnancy and I look perfect in that weight. Now, I gained almost 35 pounds which makes me look very fat. Everyone is surprising after looking at me..... and in the last trimester it been said that we gain more.... which keeps me in terrible. I don't know what time do.... I know that I should not limit food, Bcoz my little one going to hurt.
Avatar f tn Your midwife or doctor will let you know how much weight is ideal for you to put on during your pregnancy. If you have a normal BMI they say between 11 - 16kg weight gain is fine.. I at 29w and I think I have gained around 10kg so far, but in the beginning weight gain was very slow! At this stage I think your fine :) But remember weight gain is not all you putting on weight.. bub, fluid, placenta all add to it.
479244 tn?1271563659 Does anyone know anything about the IDEAL study? This is where I think the info came from regarding my original decision to go with the pegintron.... less relapse rate, less sides, stays in system shorter amt. of time when you come off , etc. My new nurse, said that study had a lot of flaws and she did not put a lot of faith in it and talked me into pegysus... any comments would be appreciated.
