Avatar f tn Even after 2 months of not working out I have actually lost weight, but for the most part, I have been able to maintain my weight because of what I did. And mind you, I gain weight easily!!! So being able to maintain my weight for 2 months is an accomplishment, if you ask me. I used to gain weight in a week!!!
15695260 tn?1549593113 I have had most of the normal overuse running related problems in the past (probable stress fracture in foot, shin splints, achilles tendonitis, runners knee, IT band problems, hamstring issues) - but I wouldn't blame those on bad running shoes as much as training too much or increasing mileage too quickly, lack of experience, and part of the running learning process is learning when little problems might become bigger problems and the need for pulling back a bit before they do become bigg
Avatar n tn I expect my son is average weight, at least among runners.
Avatar f tn It all depends on your current weight, height and age. Also, if you do the same thing for the same distance/time/intensity every day, your body will become used to it and it will no longer be a challenge. You have to change up your routine, as well as your calories periodically so your body doesn't get used to the same things.
Avatar n tn Your ideal weight depends on your age, as well as your height and weight. A child's ideal weight will be different from that of a teenager and a teenager will be different from that of an adult. There are a variety of exercises that will burn fat.
703362 tn?1427766328 I usually just set my mind on how far I am going to go before I ever get on the treadmill and absolutely refuse to give up until I have reached that distance. Does anyone else have a particular portion of their run/jog/walk that they find the most difficult? Just wondering...although it definitely might just be me. ; ) I find it interesting though...happens every single time, although once I break that inital difficult distance, I feel awesome for the remainder of the run.
730826 tn?1317943334 Then when I washed and dried them they shrunk and fell apart. I JUST got my new runners broken in, went to mow the law, wearing my steal toed shoes this time. When I came in from mowing the lawn, I found that my puppy decided to chew my runners. She never has chewed shoes before. Its just my luck. Hopefully they are still wearable as she just chewed the heal.
Avatar f tn My cravings are very steep. My diet is always hindered by candy. A week/weeks can pass by without eating candy but once I get hold of it I never stop. Which even leads me to eat more. I'm 5 ft and 7 inches tall I'm 21yrs old and I fluctuate between 65 to 70 kg, but my ideal weight is 60. I want to reach my goals and maintain not gain it back. How can I do this witching the " candy and overrating hindering". Please help.
Avatar f tn (Exceptions would be people who get obsessive about exercise, like ultra-long-distance runners or exercisers who do it compulsively, or someone whose job is so physically demanding that they can't eat enough to keep the weight on. But those exceptions are rare.) Generally, since being physically active is great for the body and the key to health, reducing activity level is not the best way to gain weight. That leaves eating more as the way to rebuild body bulk.
479244 tn?1271563659 Does anyone know anything about the IDEAL study? This is where I think the info came from regarding my original decision to go with the pegintron.... less relapse rate, less sides, stays in system shorter amt. of time when you come off , etc. My new nurse, said that study had a lot of flaws and she did not put a lot of faith in it and talked me into pegysus... any comments would be appreciated.
973741 tn?1342342773 Hi specialmom, It could be many things. 1.) Anemia. I'm no expert on fast running, but I am an expert on running while anemic, apparently.
Avatar n tn Hello, I am a 29 year old female, 5'4 and 131 pounds. I recently lost over 100 pounds in the course of a year through diet and exercise. (starting weight 244 in September of 2010). I have always been overweight, and now have a lot of excess skin, which is to be expected. My question is about my ideal weight. My goal started at 150 pounds, then 140, then 130, now I'm thinking my ideal would be 120.
1530342 tn?1405016490 On Saturday, West Liberty-Salem (Ohio) High junior Meghan Vogel won a state title. Incredibly, that might not even be what she or anyone else remembers most about her day at the Ohio Division III track and field state meet, because she later committed one of the most selfless acts of the year on the track: She stopped running the 3,200-meter final to help along a foe who had collapsed just 20 feet from the finish line.
Avatar f tn Treadmills and other cardio machines are ideal for helping you burn calories to lose weight. Try to avoid leaning heavily on the handrails. Check the gym's weight-training area to learn how to use a weight-training machine. For beginners, machines are a suitable way to exercise without the risk of using dangerous, incorrect form with free weights. Always consult the machine's instructions before use. Avoid overtraining.
Avatar m tn The next time, you challenge yourself to do either more steps or faster times. Both kinds of workout (distance and speed) are important. Some long-distance runners will do long, slow distance in one workout, and speed work in the next, and trade them off like that. If there is a coach at your school, you can probably get some basic exercises from him or her. I'd just drop by after school if the coach has a minute, and ask for, say, ten exercises.
Avatar n tn I was not an avid runner, it was a new years resolution to start it, by the summer I found out i was pregnant and I didn't want to use it an an out excuse. So. I kept running. My doctor and runners forums advised watching my temp and heart rate and obviously how you are feeling. So that's what I did, I jogged vs ran. I continued up till 7 mths. My last hoorah was a half marathon!

Avatar n tn I wonder if you are concerned about your HR because so many joggers and distance runners brag about their unusually low heart rates. When the people who talk about it are talking 50, 60, even lower, it's easy to fall into thinking yours is too high. Since surgery, I have been watching my vital signs gradually stabilize, and thinking HR wasn't keeping up, until I finally looked into norm data and figured out that my expectations were unrealistic for that reason.
Avatar n tn According to my lmp I am 6 weeks today. My feet are killing me! Even after being off them all night they still hurt. I'm not over weight and they aren't swollen. They just hurt so bad. Any suggestions?
Avatar f tn your best weight depends on several factors besides your age. How tall are you? What is your body type, i.e., small boned, large boned, average boned, medium boned. The best thing to do is type into your internet, "Ideal weight, or what is my ideal weight"? The internet will help you figure it out. I am 5'11" tall and my ideal weight would be 105 lbs. (if I were younger) to 112 lbs. I have a small frame.
Avatar f tn If the muscle is regularly subject to an even greater dynamic, eccentric contraction than during the intended exercise, it will become more capable of handling the ordinary amount of stress. Experienced long-distance runners practice controlled downhill running as a part of training, which places greater eccentric loads on the quadriceps as well as on the shins. A physical therapist, athletic trainer, or doctor should be consulted before engaging in this type of training.
Avatar n tn Hi, I am a 33 year old male. I just came back from getting an echo cardiogram and a stress test done. I later found out that the echo results showed what the cardiologist called a "dilated aorta" measuring between 3.9 and 4.0 cm. He said, given my height 5'10" and weight 177 lbs, normal measurements should be below 3.8cm. I am slightly worried because i live a healthy life style, eat well and exercise regularly.
Avatar m tn I am a cyclist with mitral valve prolapse and moderate mitral regurgitation. My echo report also states LV and RV hypertrophy without dilation. My cardiologist give me without hesitation green light for cycling without any restriction in intensity.
746818 tn?1233944362 Well I am so pleased that you have asked for treadmill routines, as well as seeing the response from PrettyKitty1. So glad to have some runners in the house with me! ; ) I also prefer to run outdoors, but I have to watch the surfaces because asphalt tends to really make my legs hurt if I go too far or too hard. In the winter I am forced to move indoors at the rec center due to my asthma (cold air really wreaks havoc with my breathing). OK...so for my actual treadmill routine.
