Avatar n tn It is good that you are taking a daily multi-vitamin because your daily intake does not have enough variety of fruits, vegetables, and protein. You need to increase your protein intake to 50-60gms a day by increasing the soy milk to 3 cups a day, add nuts to your oatmeal each time and have a starch (either rice, bread, or pasta) with your beans so you get complete protein with your meals. Eat more raw fruits and vegetables. Eat them as snacks or add them to your salads with additional nuts.
Avatar m tn How advanced is your liver disease? If you have symptoms of decompensation (ascites, hepatic encephalopathy, varices, etc) then your diet is especially important. Eating protein is necessary but the research I've done on behalf of my husband says to eat more plant and dairy protein and less animal protein (particularly little or no red meat). No alcohol at all! It's like pouring kersosene on your liver. Drink lots of water also and limit your sugar intake.

I know that eating healthy is the most important thing now than before as I'm expecting but I just can't seem to keep any of it down. The diet has a modified chicken protein - I forget what the vet said exactly but she explained it a form of protein in which the protein molecule chain has been broken making the died close to protein free as far as allergies are concerned. He is also being treated for Yeast problems (may be related to an allergy) and is taking Ketoconozole tables and a prescription antihistamine.

Avatar n tn Here's my take, for what it's worth. Calories aren't a very good guide to weight -- they're a factor but how you metabolize your food is more important. Also realize that most of the people in the world who have been studied for having the healthiest lives eat a lot of carbs -- they aren't on high protein diets. We all know that vegetables are the healthiest foods and should make up the largest portion of our diets, but they are all carbs.
Avatar m tn A condition only made worse by fast food which has very little fiber How about you simply begin eating a normal well rounded diet that includes fruits and vegetables, as well as something like oatmeal or raisin bran for breakfast. Both of those have more fiber. You could be well within a week or two on a good diet. Didn't any of the doctors speak to you about diet or your apparent constipation. By the way, don't go out and try to fix that with laxitives.

Avatar f tn Personally, I believe in a balanced diet with only a moderate amount of animal protein -- meaning complex carbs such as whole grains for stamina, enough protein but not overdoing it as it can help with short-term weight loss but isn't the healthiest way to eat long-term, and lots of different colored veggies. But diet is a variable thing -- the one you've listed might just be perfect for you provided it's not so low-calorie you're not getting sufficient nutrients.

I have reduced my calorie intake to about 1300 a day but i am feeling very ill and weak. What is the reason for this?
