protein

Avatar f tn Calorie Control High Protein. Instead of the avg 400 kcal/cup like most foods including m/d (which was taken off the market and may soon be affected by more recall issues), it has only 212 kcal/cup. ie more can be fed to make the cat have more volume, but also protein makes the cat feel fuller as opposed to high fiber which just bulks up the stools. This diet comes in dry, canned, and pouch.
Avatar f tn m afraid my new diet plan is not helping. I now eat alot of fruits and veggie and only have one serving of meat a day (usually a chicken cutlet the size of my palm). I run almost every alternate day and cycle occasionally. The average distance I run each time is between 5km to 7km; sometimes 8km on a good day. I usually complete my 5km runs in 40-45 minutes. Do you think I need to increase my meat intake to build more muscles so I can burn off more fat?? Thank You.
Avatar f tn A Ketogenic Diet (high fat, adequate protein, low carbohydrate diet) is highly recommended. This diet is also called the LCHF (low carb high fat) diet (see the blog Diet Doctor for more info). I eat the LCHF diet and my cholesterol, LDL, HDL and triglycerides are all in optimal range, i'm losing weight and improving my insulin resistance. It's a diet that can help more than seizures. :) "After 4 weeks we weaned his Depokote and put him on Zonegram. That didn't help either.
Avatar n tn Ketogenic lifestyle requires that you cut out almost all carbs. You eat less than 20g of carbs a day, moderate amount of protein 50-100g/day (60-75 is ideal for most people), and 100-150g fat/day. It is a high fat diet that switches your body from using carbs for energy to using fat for energy. After a few weeks adjustment to it, you will fill up faster, hardly ever feel hungry, and always have a ready source of energy (your body fat!). Google it!

Avatar f tn I need to lose 80 lbs. and have osteoarthritis. I've been on a low carb diet twice and both times the arthritis has flared and become quite painful. I think it's an excess of protein. How else can I lose weight? I can't stand being hungry and have good weight loss results with low carb. Help please!
776980 tn?1252244590 s for several months now and I am wondering if it could be my diet? Like most of us I assume we are all searching for answers and I keep thinking it could be as simple as a chemical imbalance caused by my diet. I have been pretty much of a vegetarian for many years, not in the strictness since, but we don't cook meet and since I retired 2 years ago I eat almost no meat at all. I do eat all my Veggies!
Avatar f tn Trans fats, msg, maize syrup, high fructose maize syrup, hydrogenated oils or diet sodas (most diet sodas comprise aspartame, an artificial sweetener that has been the subject of much argument because of it's reported edge effects) -Instead of utilising white table sugar or splenda as a sweetener, use stevia (a natural calorie free sweetener) or agave (a reduced calorie sweetener) Even natural sugar (brown sugar, sucanat, turbinado) etc. is better.
Avatar f tn If you engage in a high protein diet, your body will use stored body fat for energy as it will not have carbohydrates. Protein also enables you to stay fuller for longer. If you are going to eat carbohydrates, eat them separately as a snack, and avoid having them after 4pm. If you need more help email me, or follow my blog (i've just started writing it): http://nicola-beatingbulimia.blogspot.

Avatar f tn I have 15-20 pounds to lose to get to my ideal weight, how many calories should I eat daily? Online says 1200-1500 for moderately active but I know on the days I run I'll need more. Thoughts ?
Tbd Well, unless you take drastic lifestyle steps to change the dynamics that led you to being on the medication in the first place, it is what it is. This includes changing your diet, losing and maintaining an ideal weight and exercise. Are you doing those things? More power to you if you are! Unfortunately, that is where a lot of people fail in controlling diabetes. Uncontrolled diabetes is dangerous so you will want to control is 'somehow'.
Avatar m tn There is no definitive answer to your question, which is why it's hard to tell what's true and what isn't. Nobody really knows. Heavy protein intake for long periods of time can damage the kidneys. The ideal amount of protein for a normal diet isn't as high as people think it is, but there are different dietary theories about how much is the right amount; for bodybuilders, more protein helps build muscle.

1415174 tn?1453243103 I am vegan and use a vegan protein powder to supplement 20 grams extra a day. So my total protein is about 75-80 grams (not 95g). I read that you can get too much growth hormone (which is good for building muscle) but it creates insulin like growth factor (ILGF). Too much ILGF can potentially cause cancer. So that is what I am asking. What has anyone read about this.
Avatar f tn However, if you discuss this matter with knowledgeable medical doctors, most will tell you there’s no special diet required. Achieving and maintaining an ideal Body Mass Index (BMI) is a good idea; improper weight has been shown by some studies to be detrimental to treatment success. Of course, if Steatohepatitis (fatty liver) is present, obesity can be an issue as well.
Avatar n tn Congratulations on quitting smoking. I would strongly recommend against using any 'diet pills' or 'weight loss supplements' as the potential impact on your coumadin levels and clotting risk is uncertain. Diet and exercise are really the best medicine here.
