Ibuprofen with codeine

Common Questions and Answers about Ibuprofen with codeine

ibuprofen

I just purchased 200 mg ibuprofen/12.8 mg codeine (package of 96) online from a drugstore. It said it was an over the counter drug and I want to make sure I'm not doing anything illegal. Does anyone know if this is okay to purchase online? I live in Florida and sure don't want to end up in trouble over something so minor. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks!!
I broke my finger around 7 weeks and was prescribed tylenol with codeine after the doctor realized I couldn't have ibuprofen. you should ask your doctor first, because I don't know if different proportions of tylenol and codeine could make a difference. For a cold, though, my doctor told me Robitussin DM and cough drops were safe during pregnancy. Tea with honey did better for my sore throat than cough drops did.
Have you been addicted to Tylenol 3 with codeine? can you please help me out with my addiction such as sharing your tips, stories and so on.I just joined this site and don't know where to begin.I get T3's prescribed 3 per day, 20 every 7 days (wed-wed) but I also get them on the side from someone I lie to.I want to stop, I dont even know how long its been.It just grew out of control and i had enough but cant beat the withdrawl and i am scared cuz I also dont want help from Doctors.
Got sick of all the tummy issues with taking that much ibuprofen so went to the docs and have now been prescribed codeine phosphate for the past 6 years.. i thort it was a healthier alternative, and it prob is, but now, im just sooo sick and tired of counting pills, running out early and the resultant constipation!! Im not even sure if i still have the bad back that started all this off anymore, its been sooo long, apart from my 2 pregnancies, that ive been on them..
I think the real thing whats going to damage your health is not really the codeine but all that ibuprofen, i was just reading a few days ago it can badly damage your stomach and in-fact for people who need to use large amounts they give another drug to protect the stomach (don't mean to worry you).
my body goes into severe depression, I become very emotional, and feel crappy all the way around. Anyone out there have the same problem with Fioricet with codeine, and if so...what helps when coming off these pills?
I would advise a visit to the dr to explain your situation as the ibuprofen could cause you serious life long probs and even death. He will prescribe pure codeine and monitor you or 30 mg codeine/paracetamol which means you take less of the paracetamol or nurofen. The mental addiction is often as strong as the physical so you may need a detox in hospital programme but one thing I know for sure without medical intervention your chance of success is almost nil ..good luck!
My study doctor told me that ibuprofen was fine to take - he did not recommend a specific OTC pain reliever. The PA with my study told me that Tylenol was the recommended pain reliever for patients with liver disease - but not to exceed 2 grams per day. But what's the point if it doesn't do anything?
Like nygirl, I was told to take Tylenol or Tylenol PM not ibuprofen and most certainly not Aspirin or other NSAIDS. But as Tylenol does not help with head and muscle aches, I've taken ibuprofen during the day to help there.
Anything wrong with taking ibuprofen (active ingredient in Motrin, pain relief for inflammatory pain), too many days consecutively?
I have personally noticed less nausea with vicoprofen, which is hydrocodone with ibuprofen (advil). It also seems to work better for me than the usual vicodin or lortab, particularly with orthopedic pain. Ask your doctor if that might be a better alternative. Since your wife is experiencing so much nausea with these meds, make sure she takes them with food. If that doesn't help, she should try taking a pepcid about 15 to 20 minutes before taking the pill.

He was prescribed pain medication for a back ailment which has been successfully treated over the last year and a half...for the most part. He has a great pain doctor who has been treating him with pain blocking injections and supplements him with the pain pills in between. The doctor is aware of the addiction and has carefully prescribed meds over the last few months in an attempt to wean him.
Tylenol #3 (Tylenol with codeine) is classified as a narcotic and can cause constipation. If you do take it, make sure you drink lots of water and take it only as directed. you may want to take it with food because it might upset your stomach. Or you could alternate between regular Tylenol and the Tylenol #3. For instance, take regular Tylenol at 8am and 4pm. Then take the Tylenol #3 at noon and before bed. Hope this helps and I hope your tooth feels better.
I read your post with great interest, I too am addicted to OTC codeine here in australia, about 36-48 pills per day, each about 12.9mg codeine/200mg ibuprofen - I am guessing our dose of codeine is comparable, so it is with dismay that I read how unpleasant your w/d symptoms are - that is waiting for me Nov 15th, my CT date. I think that in my mind somewhere I have this patch of denial, that because its an OTC medicine, I won't feel bad withdrawals - this is toatally BS of course.
It's been 12 days since I stopped taking codeine cold turkey. After an 11 year addiction where I was taking up to 30+ a day( 30mgs). I slipped up on day 4 and downed about 9 pills, which is still a lot less than I was use to. I have no idea why I took those 9 on that day because I don't think my body had even started going into withdrawals by that time.

I don't have any personal experience with codeine, but wanted to offer my support.Check out the thomas recipe and the amino acid protocol in the health pages here, top right. This is a great place for help and support.Someone will come along who knows more then me.Keep posting......All the best...
I am sure each doctor is different, but my OB said only Tylenol is recommended and since my headaches were so bad he prescribed Tylenol with codeine, which is still much safer than ibuprofen. I think what is important is that you are comfortable with what your doctor recommends, and if you aren't, talk to them about it.
I have been trying to get away from codeine for near a year now but the more I try an cant the more depressed an harder things get an it has now spiraled out of control and im taking around 64 - 96 nurofen plus a day.
I have been taking APAP/codeine tab 300-30MG this is a generic for Tylenol/codeine tab #3. 6 to 8 a day. And Alprazolam tab 0.5 Mg 4 times a day. I have quit these cold turkey. 3 days ago. I am having withdraws, from quitting these pills. I was hoping someone could tell me about how long the withdraws will last. And also if there is anything I can do to make this go easier until it is out of my system. I hope someone can help me get through this.
The w/d from that, YES, waas far worse than what I am currently experiencing with codeine w/d- although my dose of codeine was much less than yours at it's worst. Are your codeine by Rx?? Here in canada, we can get it behind the counter from any pharmacy if we ask 4 it. The reason I ask is u can get codeine with acetaminophen in tablets (round pills) OR caplets (elongated tube shaped pills) and the caplets have approx 50mg LESS tylenol in them.
Wow! Speaks volumes of you.. There's a few others in here right now that are struggling with the codeine and I can't help to feel will benefit from your story here.. To show them things aren't as hopeless as many do feel at times when they begin to feel the brunt of the wd's in that first week. As you say : "Rock on!
codeine is usually prescribed together with either paracetamol or ibuprofen. One or two codeine pills with either paracetamol or ibuprofen. That's what my doc gave me long time ago when I had some serious pain. can't remember what the pain was, though.
Imodium can help as well, by reducing diarrhea and cramping. Tylenol or ibuprofen helps with body aches. A hot bath does wonders for cramped muscles. Some people swear by exercise. Then there are drugs like ibogaine that have 'cult followings' for treating withdrawal; I've even seen ads for ibogaine 'treatment centers' in Mexico. I cannot recommend Ibogaine, and would recommend avoiding anything that doesn't have a clear line of quality control.
I am ashamed to say that I worked my way up to taking 3600mg of codeine phosphate, prescribed by my doctor because I just couldn't seem to function without, and he wanted me to stablise before reducing. I had two fits, where my brain obviously just couldn't take that amount and eventually settled at 2700 to 3000mg and seemed okay for quite some time.
My sons board and my husbands in a huff cos the dole want give him any money. Hes never signed on in his life. Life does seem a tad boring without codeine. I now know that's probably why I began taking the stuff. Hours and days seem endless always wanting tomorrow to come. But I aint going to take any. But man I am board. Any one else get this I wonder??????
Hi, i was wondering if anyone knew the differences between Oxycodone and Tylenol w/codeine?? I know they both have acetomenophen. But, the Tylenol with codeine has codeine obviously. I was taking the one with 30mg. of codeine. Now I have Oxycodone 7.5-325. What is the opiad in this drug? Is it also codeine, or a different drug? I know my body's reaction to the T3, so I am a little nervous to try this new one....oxycodone. Is it stronger, not as strong, the same???
i was using my whole 100 tablets in 2-4 days (shocking i dont wanna add it up ) then using N+ otc 12.8mg codeine 200mg ibuprofen for the remainder just to cope with my stomach probs when id run out (how stupid when i think about it) i was allowed a prescription every 12 days for 2 years!! no one said a word !! just kept giving me the prescription an each time i would beg for something different coz i knew what i was doing!! i dont have pancreatitis...........
