Ibuprofen vs tylenol for kids

Common Questions and Answers about Ibuprofen vs tylenol for kids

ibuprofen

Avatar f tn Two completely different compounds. Tylenol, or acetaminophen has been deemed safe during pregnancy, ibuprofen, or Advil has NOT. As for aspirin, that's correct, it's a blood thinner.
Avatar f tn is it safe to take ibuprofen when pregnant? Just once? Ran out of tylenol.
689265 tn?1251130087 I always weigh the risk vs benefit before giving my kids any medication. Our ped is ok with us using either ibuprofen or tylenol. Maybe talk to your pharmacist to see what he/she thinks.
Avatar f tn There have been studies showing that ibuprofen use (or any NSAID for that matter) can increase.your risk for baby developing a congenital heart defect or having reapiratory/ cardiac issues at birth. If your Dr recommends it for you than I'd say its okay to take but I wouldn't unless your specific Dr tells you its okay.
Avatar n tn Not really any difference. Vicoprofen has Ibuprofen with the Hydrocodone. Vicodin has Tylenol. Strength would be the same if they both were the same dose.
7758733 tn?1402589420 Killer headaches, and never any Tylenol around. Ibuprofen can't be that bad huh? Got to go to work and this headache must go.
Avatar f tn No please no..
Avatar f tn Oh just re-read your question and honestly I don't know. I do know you can take ibuprofen while breastfeeding and you can take tylenol and ibuprofen together. So if you have ibuprofen I'd take that.
Avatar n tn Tylenol is the only safe pain medicine u can take while pregnant...I'm not totally for sure what would happen with the ibuprofin, but I wouldn't chance it!! That seems like a lot to take at one time!!?? I was given 800 mg to take after my c-sections!! You must really be suffering with some serious pain hun..talk with ur doc on what is safe for you to take!!
461838 tn?1255790216 I have posed the question of tylenol vs ibuprofen, and people here have weighed in generally warning against ibuprofen. Even tylenol, you would not want to exceed 2 or 3g per day. Basically, ask you hepatologist about any medications you are taking, including OTC's. Allergies themselves can cause much headaches because the sinus system in the areas behind the forehead, nose, and eyes are clogged up with fluid. Ask your doc for a safe allergy treatment.
Avatar f tn Have you tried just Tylenol?
Avatar f tn Has anyone heard of any reactions to ibuprofen while pregnant?
Avatar f tn Unfortunately not, you can have Tylenol.
7381903 tn?1391464888 Ibuprofen is never allowed.. Tylenol is only option and now that im in third trimester the pharmacy told me that doctors dont even want us taking that.
Avatar f tn My doctor said that ibuprofen is a big no no but then again it is only one time and many have taken it before knowing they were pregnant i am sure u and ur baby will be fine just try not to have it next time.
10678677 tn?1413254266 so during this whole pregnancy i havnt taken any meds but kids meds for cold....well i just took only ONE tylenol extra strength bcuz my teeth r hurting then a half cap full of kids cold meds..is that okay??
Avatar n tn I've been having very bad tooth aches. I used to take ibuprofen & it stop the pain almost immediately. I'm 7 weeks. Can I take 1?
Avatar f tn Charetti is right, Tylenol 3 at your dose is not that bad and will be much easier to quit than Vicodin or Percocet. If you are only taking 3 per day, the best way to minimize withdrawal would be to taper your dose. If you are taking one pill, 3X per day, then start by trying to take 1/2 pill vs a whole one - essentially see if you can cut your dose in half. You may feel a little withdrawal, but it should not be too bad. Try the half dose for two - three days, then cut that down by 1/4 - 1/2.
Avatar f tn I had a really bad headache yesterday and took 6 200mg ibuprofen tablets ( 2 every 4 hours 3 times) and then I found out today your not suppose to take ibuprofen. I'm really worried, will everything be okay?
7510956 tn?1411671417 I was looking for the post of which is best tylenol or Advil and could not find it.
Avatar f tn No ibuprofen. It's a big no no during pregnancy. You can take Tylenol. Also, drink plenty of water. Eucalyptus oil in the shower or diffuser will help clear you up a bit.
Avatar f tn I always used ibuprofen prior to getting pregnant because Tylenol wasn't strong enough. However 2 rounds of 1000mg seems to get the job done. Haven't taken me than that in a day.
Avatar f tn Is it true you shouldn't take ibuprofen it can harm the baby? I just seen this today while doing research as to this is my first. i have been taking it before I found out I was thinking my period was coming and I've always had bad cramps so I know to start taking it before my period comes to help with the pain. Should I be worried that I've harmed the baby from taking it? I'm 5 weeks BTW.
Avatar f tn Tylenol is the only safe otc stuff, since everything else has asprin in it, and asprin is really bad for baby
4444857 tn?1383325813 r two days ago and I asked the doc that cuz u started catching a cold he said any tylenol is safe for preg woman..
