Common Questions and Answers about Ibuprofen vs toradol

ibuprofen

Avatar n tn The reason that they caution you about toradol with Ibuprofen is that toradol is exptremely hard on your kidneys, as is high dose ibuprofen.

3072999 tn?1356414732 I told my NS today that I was trying not to take my Norco unless absolutely necessary and was leaning more toward Ibuprofen. He said Toradol was a better fit...so we shall see how it plays out...
Avatar n tn I take a very similar set of meds. I have suffered for years with chronic pain and my doctor added 25mg of Zipsor (anti-infam). It really makes a difference for me. When my pain gets really loud I take a Zipsor and it really takes the edge off. It has really helped me continue to work. My doc used to prescribe Toradol and it worked great, but because Toradol is so rough on the stomach they would only prescribe 3 days one time every 3 months. I am able to take Zipsor every day.
Avatar f tn If he is in that much pain get ahold of his doctor. They do have non narcotic pain meds like Toradol that do work. Our pain does get worse also when we wd and then it gets better. Hope this helps a bit.......
Avatar m tn After detoxification our patients that need surgeries usually get prescribed Ibuprofen , Neurontin and possibly Lidoderm. If hospitalized they have Toradol. We try to keep away from opiates or Tramadol if there was a history of abuse because it will trigger cravings.
Avatar f tn I've had daily sometimes severe headaches, not relieved by standard Tylenol, Ibuprofen, Tramadol, even Toradol injection. They start when I wake up, lessen when I stand or sit upright, made worse by activity, leaning my head foreword. If I lay down flat with ice pack on my forehead I get significant relief until I get up. I finally relented and saw my doctor who ordered CT scan. Note from radiology "normal findings, incidental Colliod cyst".
1099361 tn?1258662257 I suffer with chronic pain and have for many years. The only pain reliever I have found to work is one called "Toradol". I am not sure I spelled that right. My doctor gives it to me by injection and I have not researched it but I don't think it is available orally. Please do your research before taking any medication. You may also try alternative treatment such as acupuncture or even chiropractive treatment.
459155 tn?1264008142 I have a history of drug abuse and my doctor has requested that I take toradol for pain. Is this addictive as well? Opiate?
968560 tn?1307451498 toradol is not recommended for long term use eg,5 days because of stomach/intestinal problems. my question is, if i use it for 2-3 days and stop using it,how long before it's safe to start using it again?
Avatar m tn I had been clean for a week and a half, them had to have emergency surgery. I had a few doses of morphine post op but at home recovery I told the doc NO OPIATES please! So I went home in Toradol and my pain was managed.
Avatar f tn I've had daily sometimes severe headaches, not relieved by standard Tylenol, Ibuprofen, Tramadol, even Toradol injection. They start when I wake up, lessen when I stand or sit upright, made worse by activity, even just leaning my head foreword. If I lay down flat with ice pack on my forehead I get significant relief until I get up. After almost 5 weeks of daily headaches I finally relented and saw my doctor who ordered CT scan.
1397091 tn?1296576718 00 for 6pills with out insurance and they will not let me buy them seprately. My doctor is sympathic, so she will give me a Toradol shot when I need it. Takes over an hour to kick in and burns like crazy. For me the Toradol shots do not make me tired, so they are helpful.
Avatar f tn I was prescribed Toradol short term, then Ibuprofen 800MG as needed. I did not supplement my Ibuprofen ingestion with an acid reducer (Pepcid, Nexium) and after 4 months developed one peptic, esophageal ulcer and several erosions (ulcer precursors) in my upper GI. My GI doctor prescribed Nexium twice a day and is confident the GERD is NSAID induced and that my lesions will be healed in 12 weeks.
535822 tn?1443976780 After about a week, I started feeling better and was able to return to school and work. A couple of days later my fever started spiking up to 102.8. I took ibuprofen and the fever broke that night. I went to the beach the next day and seemed ok, but the fever again spiked that night back to 102.8. It did this over the weekend so I went back to urgent care on Monday. That doctor said the same thing about my urine and put me back on cipro for 5 days.
Avatar n tn I really think your withdrawals will be minimal at your dose, but you are wise to stay away from the opiates.Perhaps the doctor could prescribe toradol for the kidney stone or even try ibuprofen or aleve otc. They may work just fine for you.Good luck in withdrawal and take the vitamins and nutrients.Your withdrawal will be easier than some, but the aftercare is just as important and you have to have a plan to deal with future pain without opiates or tramadol.
Avatar f tn So I have to wait until I can be seen by a doctor for surgical removal vs lithotripsy. I refused all opiates in ER. Refused a script for Percocet, got one for a non narcotic NSAID instead. Still MISERABLE. I am staying clean if opiates, very determined as you can see!! But what do I take for real pain now?
Avatar n tn Not really any difference. Vicoprofen has Ibuprofen with the Hydrocodone. Vicodin has Tylenol. Strength would be the same if they both were the same dose.
Avatar f tn Frankly, I'd be more worried about the toradol than the tramadol (ultram) since it's not supposed to be used longer than 5 days. Here's the patient information on toradol from rxlist: http://www.rxlist.com/cgi/generic/ketor.
1736894 tn?1310599736 My doctor has prescribed ibuprofen and if taken properly it helps.
1155483 tn?1262432647 He took me off the meloxicam and put me on Toradol (Ketorolac) 10mg 3xDaily. Now, I have researched a bit about the drug, checking the insert and also several websites, such as Drugs.com, and all of them say not to take the medication for longer then 5 consecutive days and that it is not indicated for the treatment of chronic pain. I am worried of the side effects and the specific warning of the 5 day maximum.
Avatar m tn how long would it take for the drug Toradol injection to cause an allergic reaction in a person who have Asthma? and would it take the same amount of time in another person?
Avatar m tn Good advice here ... Extra-strength Tylenol, Motrin (ibuprofen), Toradol (didn't know it was still around, Ga), even enteric-coated aspirin -- you'll be surprised at how effective they are ... Just tell your dentist you don't take addictive drugs, period. No need for your life story. A little nitrous oxide will help during the procedure -- just ask.
Avatar f tn I am feeling better, but my pain on some days is unberable. I dont know what to do. I take ibuprofen and it works most days, but like today I have taken ibuprofen, laid on my heating pad, and put icy hot on my back and I am still having immense pain. These are the days I really kick myself in the *** for becoming addicted to pain meds. I could really use one today for actual pain. The physical and mental part of this I can deal with. Its the pain that gets me. I dont know what to do.
Avatar f tn I'm a bit confused as well...but I'll say from experience, as someone who has had multiple kidney stones over the past 10 years - ibuprofen and toradol really DO work better than narcotics. I've been pumped full of dilaudid...been on a morphine pump....and for kidney stones, I still found more relief from a good strong NSAID and a heat pack.
Avatar f tn I have rheumatoid arthritis and take extrastrength tylenol and ibuprofen, alternating and it seems to help my pain during the day.None of these drugs are heavy duty but they seem to do it for me.
Avatar f tn I was given a shot of a non-narcotic (I think Toradol or something) as I had to drive myself to the ER with my hubby being out of town and prescribed Ibuprofen. They did a CT and said I have a 4 mm kidney stone and I have not felt the pain as bad since. I still have back pain and this morning felt the urgency I did the other day but that has subsided. Will I know when I pass this stone, and what is the "usual" time it takes from the pain onset?
