Ibuprofen vs midol

Common Questions and Answers about Ibuprofen vs midol

ibuprofen

Avatar f tn Some people find one works better than the other. In theory, any that are Ibuprofen-based (i.e., Advil, Midol) should work better because Ibuprofen helps with swelling in addition to pain. Personally, I find the Ibuprofen-based only helps me with my back ache and not the cramps whereas Tylenol (acetamenophin-based) helps me with my cramps. As far as when-you-can-just-sit-around methods (perhaps in conjunction with the pain med of your choice): Heating pads can help.
Avatar f tn I have severe cramps. I can't even walk through the grocery store without almost dropping to the ground in pain. I've tried Advil Tylenol ibuprofen and even tried sitting with a heating pad on my tummy. I've tried everything but nothing even touched them. So my question is does anybody know how to make them stop or even turn them from severe to mild.
Avatar n tn I have really bad cramps and midol makes me feel sick. I just take ibuprofen and it helps a bit, but definitely say something to a doctor.
Avatar n tn Otherwise, you can use moist heat, such as a damp washcloth rinsed in hot water, squeeze out excess water, then apply to your abdomen. Another over-the-counter pain reliever is Midol; you can also use maximum strength Ibuprofen instead. Good Luck!
800427 tn?1324945719 Have you tried Tylenol? Maybe Midol, I don't know if it has ibuprofen but it could be worth a shot, but it is more expensive. You could try the store brand.
Avatar n tn I am just wondering if there are any problems with drug interactions between Metformin and OTC meds like Tylenol, Ibuprofen, Midol, Unisom, Allergy/Sinus meds, etc... Common things that a person might take for pain, sleeplessness, allergies, colds, etc?
Avatar f tn I would definitely take Midol or Tylenol, I get horrible cramps to the point where I am also throwing up from pain and rolling around on the floor. Midol seems to help me a ton. I would also maybe talk to my parents about possibly getting on birth control pills to help with the cramps -- that was suggested to me and just because you are on birth control doesn't mean that you are or have to be sexually active but it does help. Good luck hun!
Avatar f tn The Advil had 200 mg of ibuprofen. Later on I got cramps so at around four I took two midol extra strength. Each pill had 500 mg of acetominophen. Then I began getting a massive headache so at 6:45 I took one Tylenol extra strength tablet which also had 500 mg of acetominophen. Now I am worried because I took a little bit too much acetominophen And didn't wait long enough. Also I don't know if the combination of the 200 mg of ibuprofen and the beer could be bad as well?
Avatar n tn t usually fall back to sleep for a while, usually once the pain pills I take start to slightly help. (Not Midol, my reaction to Midol is a whole other ordeal) I usually wake up in less pain, but it can be kinda iffy during the day at random times, but just headaches and cramps.
Avatar n tn Hi, Spotting and usually a light blood flow are the first visible signs that your period (menstrual flow) has started; most young women will notice a spot in their underwear first. A period can last anywhere from 2, 3, or 4 days for the first few months to a year. Other signs can be lower abdominal cramps, bloating, fatigue, irritability, and headaches, etc ~ which are normal...
1729448 tn?1342094737 Does anyone know any ways to relieve pain during your period? I usually don't get cramps but today my period is starting and I'm having back pain. I've had the pain a couple days but I spaced it on my period i forgot it might be that causing it. Like I said, it's unusual for me. I have a heating pad on my back and I'm laying down and i took 2 prescription strength ibuprofen (my mom was taking them and then stopped when she had hip replacement surgery). Any other advice?
406107 tn?1219012600 I have 3 children, and unfortunately in my town, its unlikely unless they actually find the kids in posession of a controled substance. Then again, they (kids) have to have any meds., even tylenol or midol, etc. kept in the school office and if they are caught with anything, they do get a warning at first as long as its not a controlled substance.
1419937 tn?1302557849 my mom says that its time for me to go to the gyno beacause ive had cramps soooooooo!!!! bad that I was crying after I took 3 ibuprofen. But... I realy dont want to go baecuse we just did sex ed at my school an my "down there" looks nothing like the digram of the "down there". HELP!!!
Avatar n tn Hi ladies! So I used to be someone who couldn't live without ibuprofen, advil and midol during "that time of the month". My cramps are unbearable I get tired and fatigued and my flow is super light and over quickly or it lasts up to two weeks and is heavy the entire time. Problem is, I was recently diagnosed with von willebrands disease. Which is basically a bleeding disorder and you're not allowed to take anything but Tylenol for pai because everything is a blood thinner.
Avatar n tn As for what you can do now, make sure you're drinking lots of water, cut caffeine, stop any dangerous habits (alcohol, tobacco, drugs), eat sensible, healthy meals and get plenty of sleep. You can take Tylenol for the cramping pain if it's really bad (Midol, ibuprofen, etc. are NOT safe for pregnancy), or try a hot water bottle or heating pad instead. You may also want to start a prenatal vitamin, which you can get for about $10-15 your local pharmacy or grocery store.
Avatar n tn Not really any difference. Vicoprofen has Ibuprofen with the Hydrocodone. Vicodin has Tylenol. Strength would be the same if they both were the same dose.
Avatar f tn neurontin and lyrica for nerve pain, aspirin, ibuprofen, acetaminophen, celebrex, vioxx, midol, dozens of different types of opiates both synthetic and derived from the poppy, marijuana, kava, willow bark, turmeric, ginger, benzos, nitrous oxide gas, ether, and that's just again not even thinking hard about it.
Avatar n tn i am to take 2 tramadol twice daily or as needed along with 800 mg ibuprofen twice daily. i have not found any resolve with this medication (i have been on it 2 weeks). i also have not had any typical withdrawl symptoms from stopping the vicodin. i have degeneration of my t3 and t4 vertebre and spinal rotation and of course subluxation. i have had 2 diagnosises and both times the prognosis was long term chronic pain. i have blood work done every 3 mths and it has always been normal.
2059782 tn?1342033162 you CAN alternate between tylenol and ibuprofen for a bad fever. staggar the doses according to how long they last. for example, if the medicines last 4 hours each, take tylenol at 4pm, ibuprofen at 6pm, then tylenol again at 8. you MUST watch the dosages on the label and how often to take them, I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH!. ALSO, you cannot take more than 3000mg of tylenol (also called acetaminophen) in one 24hr period. it's toxic to your liver.
Avatar f tn I've always used Midol every 4-6 hours, that usually helps.
Avatar f tn I just had my baby a couple days ago and I was wondering would midol be ok to take even thou I'm breast feeding him?
231048 tn?1214354453 beaten, dont do that. you have to deal with lifes aches and pains everyday....without oxy. take some midol...and a tylenol pm or 2 and sleep through it. i am so glad you did not go the methadone way. be strong. tell jason to tell you NO WAY when you wanna make that call. he needs to be strong too. you know i love ya girl, i would not steer ya the wrong way. i am happy you are 5 days clean too.
653611 tn?1235776013 iam 5 weeks along, give or take a week, and im not ready for my co-workers to know,i work early in the morning and dont want to get morning sickness, {everything that comes along with it} at work. i was wondering if midol could releive my early pregnacy symtoms or will it just make me worst, thanks for the help!
Avatar f tn Your fears are natural and normal, but like Clysta said, unless you're in extreme pain, everything's probably fine. Try a heating pad, hot water bottle or Tylenol (no Midol, ibuprofen, etc.) if you're really uncomfortable, or just something soothing like tea or a bath. I measured 5 and a 1/2 weeks at my last visit and have been cramping off and on pretty much since implantation! LOL usually all it means is that your body's moving stuff around in there to fit a baby in.
