Ibuprofen vs aleve

Common Questions and Answers about Ibuprofen vs aleve

ibuprofen

Avatar n tn The most common anti-inflammatories (NSAIDS - Non-Steroidal Anti-INflammatory) are Motrin (Generic = Ibuprofen) or Aleve (Generic = Naproxen or Naproxen Sodium). I agree - use only one of these. If you use Aleve be careful if you are on Neurontin because is a small amount of cases Aleve will interact with Neurontin and cause a 12 - 15% increase in the absorption of the Neurontin (I know this from first hand experience).
Avatar f tn Tylenol that has no aspirin
1654058 tn?1407159066 Karen, Your platelets are already low, and NSAIDs can increase the risk for bleeding; imho, acetaminophen over the ibuprofen, hands down. With low platelets from tx and a compromised liver and kidney system, any of the NSAIDs are contra-indicated for you (includes Motrin, Advil, Aleve). Tylenol is not to be taken indiscriminately either, though. With cirrhosis, no more than 2000 mg per day max (that means no more than 4 Extra Strength Tylenol in any 24 hour period).
649758 tn?1229841488 It is a very dangerous drug and you must be taken off gradually, (so u dont die) and then swith to a non-steroidal anti inflamatory, or NSAID like Aleve, Ibuprofen or Tylenol. Id reccomend getting a seccond opinion about the benneficial vs lethal effects of your prednisone. It is normally only prescibed for a week max.
Avatar n tn I don't usually get better with ibuprofen either. Try Aleve (naproxen) because it's stronger. That usually takes the edge off. At least it's something to try until you can get in to see the doctor. My doctor prescribed 550mg naproxen which is like taking 2 Aleve.
1396846 tn?1332459510 Another thing to keep in mind, besides taking Ibuprofen and Aleve, is to make sure you stay hydrated. I do notice a difference when I haven't had enough water during the day.
211043 tn?1337050701 s office (also great) have told me not to take ibuprofen or Aleve. Both of these have apparently been found to be linked to a higher miscarriage rate. Tylenol/Acetaminophen is fine, just not Advil, Motrin, Aleve or their generic counterparts. Here is an article I found if anyone is interested. http://www.sciencenews.org/articles/20030823/fob1.
1230912 tn?1273492770 Sorry I just had to vent a little because I already know I am going to be calling her in two weeks, I have a high tolerance to drugs and Aleve has never been better than Advil for me. I would rather stay on the ibuprofen but will give the naproxen a chance, maybe I will find it is better for some of the other inflammation I have? Thanks for listening to my vent!
1328595 tn?1283018449 m assuming its heartburn but I read that that happens with prolonged use. I rarely use over the counter NSAIDs, such as Aleve. Could it be my heart? I'm 28 years old with family members that have suffered from heart problems and stroke. Thank you for any input.
Avatar f tn If you are not pregnant, Ibuprofen and Aleve, and cortisone shots. Worse case scenario having surgery depending on the severity. Good luck!
Avatar f tn t suggest it. Ibuprofen is good but for me Naproxen (aleve) works best for cramps. Also those single use heating pads that are available in the first aid section of the pharmacy are awesome. They last for several hours. They are available specifically for cramps.
7721203 tn?1468443229 I've googled it & gotten so many different answers.. I'm 8 weeks + 3 days. just been having sinus crap going on, and I feel like I may have a small fever.. I feel fine other than that. is it okay to take an ibuprofen.. & if yes, how much? I know the baby is at a sensitive state right now & I'll suck it up if I have to. I was just worried me having a fever would affect the baby.. thank you in advance!! ftm and freaking out!
Avatar f tn I have severe cramps. I can't even walk through the grocery store without almost dropping to the ground in pain. I've tried Advil Tylenol ibuprofen and even tried sitting with a heating pad on my tummy. I've tried everything but nothing even touched them. So my question is does anybody know how to make them stop or even turn them from severe to mild.
Avatar f tn I have always used products that contain codeine for my migraines such as paracetamol/codeine, ibuprofen/codeine, paracetamol/doxylamine/codeine etc. Do other people use these types of meds? Why do you use them? Is it because you find they work better than meds without codeine? Advertising on the pack/tv? Advice from health professional/friend? Thanks!
Avatar f tn I am anemic and they say to take advil, IB, or Aleve to relieve the pain. (needs an anti inflammatory type of med) Trying to figure out now which one would be best--- any thoughts you doctor brains out there?
Avatar n tn I was tested for rheumatoid arthritis last year and was negative. I've never been diagnosed or tested for any of the other issues you listed. I used to find relief with an NSAID (Aleve), but it hasn't helped with my most recent symptoms.
Avatar f tn Ibuprofen (and all NSAIDs) are a big no go during pregnancy (with the occasional exception of aspirin for certain medical conditions, and only under direction of a physician).... Tylenol (acetaminophen) is really the only thing you can take.
Avatar f tn I'm in a similar position with medication making me isolate. It's one of the things I hate about taking them. I'm looking into other options like acupuncture. (I am not addicted but addiction is something I worry about constantly.) From what I hear, rebound pain is very common and it should subside, but I don't know how long the rebound pain usually lasts. I'm sure someone will be on later and will be able to answer that for you.
363110 tn?1340920419 AF finally came 5 or 6 days late. And I have had HORRIBLE cramps that make me want to cry, and I can't handle having my stomach touched or pushed on because it hurts pretty bad. Any clue why? I'm not on BC or BFing Tj any more. my cycles had been 1 day late each time til this time and this time the cramps SUCK, I have tried Ibuprofen and it helps some, heat.... but that's it..
Avatar f tn there are of course other pills that are not addicting ibuprofen (can cause stomach bleeding, aleve which if you go to a doctor they can give you naproxen in higher doses, which is the active ingredient in aleve, same with ibuprofen it can be prescribed in highrer doses, but i would check with a doctor first for sure.
