You can take ibuprofen over the counter. The recommended dose is 2 tablets every 4 to 6 hours. Talk to your doctor though as mine has me take up to 4 tablets every 4 to 6 hours (the maximum and what takes it to prescription level). Absolutely makes cramps manageable for me. Ibuprofen comes in a variety of brands from store brand (cheapest and perfectly fine) to Advil to Motrin. There is another OTC medication called alleve that women take as well for cramps.
I have horrible menstrual cramps and the only relief i have found is ibuprofen, naproxen etc (Nsaids) but now i have developed stomach ulcers and gastro infections from it. So i I started taking paracetamol, and pretty high doses. But its not working. At all. What can i take for my cramps that works but are not nsaids? Not taking anything is not an option as I litterary wont be able to stand upright from cramps. I do take 80mg nexium a day. Thanks in advance for any help!

hi,i had a gastric bypass 1 yr ago and my mom had hers 3yrs ago ,she uses ibprufen all the time for her pain and the dr prescribed it knowing about her g-bypass,also i take it on and off if i have very bad headache etc and never had any probs,i think the prob is if you take it every day for long eriod of time and thats not good for anyone never mind us as it can damage ur insides,so it goes for every one,but to take it on and off is fine,i asked my dr.
Ibuprofen and such tends to give me stomach pain and I've been On ibuprofen for years. Heat helps but just for the 30 sex or so the heat is applied. Other than that nothing.
You should be just fine unless you have an allergy to ibuprofen. Prescription Motrin is 800mg of Ibuprofen so that is the equivalent of four of the 200mg Ibuprofen. If you don't break out in a rash or have breathing difficulties after taking one or two Ibuprofen, please don't lose sleep over taking a third. As I said, as long as you can take Ibuprofen in the first place without having a problem, three won't bother you.
I have been taking maximum daily dosage of generic ibuprofen (3200 mg a day, usually 1600mg at a time). I also take 600mg etodolac, 400 in the am and 200 in the pm. I have been having kidney pain on both sides, and excessive sweating. Could this be from taking too much NSAID medication?
s safe but now I realize that Ibuprofen and Tylenol are off limits unless you only take as recommended. Not my type of drug if you have to watch and regulate. Here's a link, the only drug that I know for sure is safe is methadone. good luck

Look and ask. Look at the directions. Are they for the right part if the body? Look at the bottle. It may have a picture of the eye or the ear to prevent confusion. Finally, ask the pharmacist. They can review the prescription and call the doctor if needed.
I take 600mg of ibuprofen (prescribed) and daily birth control. I was currently on clyndomisin for a tooth infection as well. Sometimes over the counter Zyrtec generic for allergies. Other than that I have no idea where these results came from. The doctor uses a in home lab called "infinity lab" so I refused to take these results when I have never used such medication in my life. I just purchased 200 mg ibuprofen/12.8 mg codeine (package of 96) online from a drugstore. It said it was an over the counter drug and I want to make sure I'm not doing anything illegal. The headaches are what bothers me at work the most, ive had to call in a few times which at my job is becoming to be unacceptable unless you are at the doctor. What medication have some of you used to manage the pain? Im taking Fiorocet right now and it does seem to work, if i take almost triple the amount it says to take. (one every 6-8 hours) and even then it only lasts for about an hour and then starts hurting again.
I have heard alot of negative things about actamenaphen. That is the only medication I am taking and I donot drink. I have been taking this medication for awhile and it seems to be the only one that has helped my headaches so far. The doctor tried me on several different meds, and this is the only one that stopped the headache before it became a migrane.
I was given 800mg ibuprofen every 6 hours, vicodin 5-325 every 4 hours. On day 3 I was in excruciating pain with huge hard lumps on the sides of my face that hurt so I went back to the dentist and he prescribed me x2 150mg of Clindamycin every 6 hours. An over the counter medication is any medication that can be purchased without a prescription "over the counter", but does not make the medication safer and needs to be taken according to the directions on the package and there is a need to be more vigilent and take into consideration individual health, the benefits versus the risks and potential interactions with any prescribed meidcations.
