If so, my husband says that you can take a paracetomol/ibuprofen combo pill available at Boots or any other pharmacy near you! Hope this helps! Don't do the mouthwash for now, it may only irritate your tooth further!

Hi there, The best over-the-counter painkillers easily available for toothache are non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, or NSAIDs. These include ibuprofen, or even better, ketoprofen.Do read the leaflet on instructions and contraindications before using these drugs. It is contraindicated in asthma .Paracetamol/Acetaminophen (Tylenol) or even aspirin are also good for dental pain. Take care and regards!
I had a upper tooth extracted about 4 months ago. I am now experiencing a toothache in the tooth next to it. I went to the dentist and he took x-rays but nothing seems to be wrong. He did say that I needed a night guard for night grinding and that could possibly be the reason for the pain. The next day I went to my regular doctor and was told I have a sinus infection on my right side (same side as the tooth) and prescribed antibiotics.
I was up till 4 in the morning bawling cause my tooth hurt so bad. I only took 500mg of ibuprofen so I wouldn't hurt my baby I used a whole tube of oragel I tried putting a hot rag on my face. Nothing is working! Maybe you ladies know something that I can do to make it go away?
I tried orajel but it does not help even in the slightest, the pain persists even if put inside the tooth. Ibuprofen and tylenol also do not help at all. I should also add that I have had like 1 hour of sleep in the past 2 days and I am running on empty. Can't sleep due to pain no matter how elevated I am.
However, if the pain is due to a pinched nerve in neck, it is best to take a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory such as tylenol, ibuprofen, or naproxen, use warm compress and a pain relief gel alternating with each other. Take care! The medical advice given should not be considered a substitute for medical care provided by a doctor who can examine you. The advice may not be completely correct for you as the doctor cannot examine you and does not know your complete medical history.
Congratulations! Hope things get better with your husband and the new baby you're bringing into your lives.
Vicoprofen, for example, has hydrocodone with ibuprofen instead of the acetaminophen. But he's the doc so he'll know better than me lol. Hope you feel better soon!
I'm wondering if this sinus pressure is being caused by the toothache? I know you can get sinus toothache but i'm assuming that isn't the case given what the dentist said when he looked at the tooth, so i'm wondering if it can work the other way too? Is the toothache causing the pressure in my sinuses and around my jaw? I should also say, i'm currently taking anti-biotics for an acneiform rash (been taking them for nearly 2 months now..
Tylenol isnt touching it ... Its so strange I didnt do anything to it... but it just hurts! Radiates through my lower jaw.. nothing can touch it. It comes and goes but right now its just awful... Im almost 30 weeks. I read ibuprofen is ok during 1st &2nd trimester... does me no good now! Lol Any one have any suggestions for Safe things to do/take while pregnant?
30 this a.m. with a throbbing toothache. Am I just having trouble with my pain tolerance because I was abusing the vics for so long? I dunno but since my first attempt to quit I've had kidney stones (had to take meds), bronchitis-sinus infection- UTI (offered meds but refused) scyatica pain that killed (only OTC meds) but this toothache takes the cake, its messing with my vision too I think, I dunno but it hurts sooo bad. I just took some more eccederine but it doesn't even really touch it.
i am currently 8 wks and 3 days pregnant and have had a really bad wisdom toothache! I just couldnt take the pain anymore and took a ibuprofen 800mg without even thinking about it! Now im freaking out :/ will it harm my baby since its in its development stage? I really hope not !
Last week, the pain came back feeling like a gumline cavity and maybe interdental. I took ibuprofen, extended release Tylenol, and swished mouthwash and then took hydrocodone at bedtime until I could see the dentist Monday April 18 2011. At eHow website, home remedies recommended include clove oil, garlic, powdered aspirinl Another website recommends OTC Red Cross carbolic acid topical treatment. The xray showed no canal in the root probably because of WBC and crud from the infection.
That's a long time. They don't even let you take ibuprofen when you're pregnant! You should definitely tell your ob about it. And please, never ask a receptionist for an advice in such an important matter. She is not a doctor!
Hi im 16 years old and i had this really bad sore throat for the last 3 days it hurt when i swallow and everything , I have some ibuprofen that was given to me by a doctor for another reason but do you think i can take it for my sore throat?

I have been having this toothache which started for a week, I went to the dentist and she said nothings wrong, since I can't pinpoint exactly what tooth is painful, all I know is my upper right jaw is painful..my dentist suggested I go to an ent coz I probably have a sinusitis or allergic rhinitis..So turns out I do have allergic rhinitis, sinusitis but on the left side of my face...so the doc said that's not whats causing my pain but its TN, and he gave me carpamazepine...
I have been having a toothache and it seems worse at bedtime. I take my synthroid at bedtime and wonder if it is alright to take ibuprofen at the same time.

Hi there, The best pain killer for toothache is a NSAID like ibuprofen as long as a person does not have any medical contra-indications to it. Meloxicam is usually used in conditions like ankylosing spondylitis; rheumatoid arthritis etc.How effective it will be in toothaches should be confirmed by your dentist. Treatment of the cause of tooth pain is very important. Do keep me posted. Take care and regards!
I've found that ibuprofen + codeine to be okay for toothache as a stop-gap. Having had lower esophageal sphincter spasms so bad that it's been an ambulance trip to ER, I'd rate toothache at somewhat annoying by comparison, and a really shocking tension headache somewhere in between. And that's not to belittle anyone with a toothache - it's the waiting, waiting, waiting to get in to see the dentist, oh I hate that part too!
I've been taking suboxone and have run out. I have a bad toothache and have some vicodine, would that be effective until I get this tooth worked on. I will have my suboxone on Monday again.
My toothache has been keeping me up for days. I searched the net and found out that I shouldn't be taking either Ibuprofen or Mefenamic acid because of "an increased risk of bleeding in the gut" or something like that. :( Is there anything I can take? My tooth is killing me. *Please don't suggest going to the dentist. I'm waiting for another 2 weeks. By then, my doc will probably take me off Coumadin.
