ibuprofen

Can Kidney pain be a side effect of taking Ibuprofen? I was taking ibuprofen last week consecutively for 3 days (400mg t.i.d) after laser eye surgery. A day or so after starting it I experienced mild pain/discomfort in my left flank that came in waves. When I stopped taking the ibuprofen the flank pain also stopped. The next day I took one more dose - the flank pain started again within an hour, but was gone the next day.
I began physical therapy a month ago and about 2 weeks ago I started taking about 400mg 2x/day nonstop and the ibuprofen is helping more now, the pain is pretty much gone as long as I take the ibuprofen 2x/day. I am worried that this long term use of ibuprofen is going to damage my liver, kidneys, intestines, etc. If I stop the ibuprofen the pain is back.
You are not alone, I too suffer from extreme exhaustion and lots of long term side effects. I agree that it's hard to fight the system but you have to keep trying! Keep checking with different doctors...........at least that's what I'm doing, it just is NOT normal for an HCV SVR to experience this much fatigue (there must be something else wrong). You sound like a very caring man and she is lucky to have you. My best to you and your wife.
I know this was a long way around a few simple questions but, Can you have long term pericarditis? Would it show in the blood tests after such a long time? Would a doctor be able to give you some type of tests to evaluate the situation and eliminate certain illnesses or diseases? Do you acquire other illnesses or diseases after you have pericarditis?
Which pain med has a more negative effect on the liver after long term use, ibuprofen or darvocet?

these medications are your best bet as opposed to vicodin etc. for long term use..for reasons such as the amount of tylenol found in the vicodin..where as the oxy and morphine are safe from acetaminophen thus saving your liver...maybe instead of the oxycodone he can give you the oxyIR? talk with your doc about switching your meds if that is what makes you more comfortable he, above all people should know that a tolerance will develope when a person is on ling term medication..
There are several cholinesterase inhibitors approved for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease and although as mentioned earlier that anti-inflammatories are questionably responsible for early prevention, the anti-inflammatories do possess side-effects that most often appear in the form of GI errosion.
I just hope that I can be a lesson that long term sub use does have withdrawals, and they can be severe. And this in my story. Wait2long, thank you for asking the tough questions. As addicts, we have to do that. When asked how I will know if I can staff of the hydros, guess my answer is my strength in God, and the fact I can have the life I once lived back again. I miss my old happy self. And so do my friends.
You should ask your pharmacist about effects but you can read them on the sheet they provide with the prescription - every drug has side effects - if you read the side effects of Motrin you might not take it but millions do every week or so and have no problem so you have to weigh the odds of those effects happening, which the pharmacist will go over with you. The manufacturer of the med will have the effects listed on its website.
1) 80mg of Protonix is a high dose, but sometimes prescribed for refractory cases. In general, use of PPIs long term has not been associated with severe side effects. 2) Yes, ibuprofen can irritate the stomach line. Nausea can be a symptom of a variety of upper GI disorders like ulcers or inflammation. 3) I would consider 24-hr pH study to document the extent of the GERD or reflux. These options can be discussed with your personal physician.
I experienced the side effects I was told could happen, worse cramps and heavier bleeding. I am fine with these because my choice for birth control is very limited because I get blood clots and cannot take the pill. However, I am wondering if anyone has experienced a decrease in thier sex drive becasue of it. I am only 29 years old, married to a very wonderful and attractive man, but honestly I could care less about sex.
What did the savella side effects do to some people i hear they are horrible?
The 2 medicines, ibuprofen and Augmentin® (amoxicillin and clavulanate), have been identified as causing many side effects, including a variety of skin reactions, some of the side effects are very uncommon but serious. It is also possible that your skin lesions have nothing to do with these medicines.
Aside from feeling like I aged 10 to years in a short time, I lost myself. I have never been the same person since. With the long term side effects, everything about me is different. Cognitively I am unable to do my job (RHIT) and the fatique and malasie when I can function make it too short term. I don't want to repeat everything that joi has said because I suffer from all the same long term effects.

I was taking half a day, then one a day, then up to 6 a day. Then I started having awful side effects. My back pain got worse, my tongue was swelling some, and had stomach pain too. Then I had my lumbar injection and the pain got worse. I am scared this is an allergic reaction. I had my lumbar steroid injection, and the pain got worse, so my Dr prescribed Tylenol 4. I haven't taken the Percocet in over a day now, as it has scared me. I took the Tylenol 4 only twice yesterday.
I have no desire to do anything, constantly obsessing and worrying about anything and everything. My doc did tell me about the side effects, but how long are the side effects going to last? I read the thread here, only a couple of ladies here mentioned that the side effects went away after few weeks or a couple of months, most of the ladies here quit Yaz after a month. I dont think i can stand another week.
Also Ibuprofen can cause stomach problems and some people are not able to take it because of adverse side effects. Ibuprofen is not a pain reliever, it is an anti-inflammatory drug. For pain relief you would be better off taking normal pain relief medications like paracetamol, taking the dosage as recommended on the packet. Your arm pain may be related to the neck part of the spinal column.
If you have a special pain situation that warrants the ongoing and long term use of opiates, fine. But the fact remains: a long term relationship with any opiate is risky, even if it's occasional or intermittent or it's a relatively weak opiate. Especially if you just happen to have a previous history with opiate abuse, as many HCV+ people do. And for those that insist, "Oh I'm not one of those people who get addicted".
3 due to side effects of not being able to take more Synthroid for supression due to anxiety side effects. Once I began taking my Vit D supplements (first 6 weeks 100,000 iu's followed by 1X week 50,000 iu's) my recheck is normal at 32 with no symptoms. I decided that I had to kick the Oxazepam to give me a clear picture of what side effects I was going to have to deal with. Maybe that is what the side effects are from because I"ve never heard of anything like this happening before (doesn't mean it's not possible) and I"ve never even READ anything in all this time of this being possible. Interferon is one of the things they use for MS but I"m not sure why you would want to be tested for it...
