Avatar f tn sorry to hear your hubby is having a hard time. sounds like he is having some of the common side effects. There is nothing that can boost platlets but many docs let them go really low before lowering or stopping the meds. Try and get back on the full strength of interferon ASAP! Probably the most common side effect is the itching. I have it as well and it is horrible. I have found some relief with a prescription med called Atarax.
Avatar f tn Like... they said at 10mg there are very few side-effects and at 20mg there are noticeable side-effects. But, you obviously don't want to change the dose on your own, as this can be extremely dangerous! But, it would be worth talking to your doctor about if the side-effects don't go away fast enough. Although... most of the time... with SSRIs in general I find, it can take 2 to 4 weeks for side-effects to go away and then they're gone for good.
Avatar f tn Hey, I've been bleeding for 11 days now. It's my time of the month to get my depo shot but not until a few weeks time. I've never experienced this before and am wondering if anyone can help? Is there any way it can stop?
Avatar f tn I have been taking 2-4 ibprogen 200 mg. tablets for 4 months on a daily basis. Does this still fit into the manufacturer's guidelines for this product. I'm concerned about long term side effects.
Avatar f tn I was told by my doctor that ibuprofen can cause internal bleeding.. I had to ask because ibuprofen is the only medicine that helped my toothaches. You should be fine, just be careful now and don't drink monsters and only take Tylenol..
Avatar n tn Hello, Fatigue and dry mouth and dyspepsia are frequent side effects of Vesicare but it is unlikely to cause any sore throat. Your sore throat can be due to some viral infection. Drink plenty of fluids throughout the day and use over-the-counter throat lozenges. Salt water gargle is also a good way to relieve a sore throat. In addition, you can take anti inflammatory drugs like ibuprofen and paracetamol (acetaminophen) after consulting your general physician.
Avatar f tn re having a discussion on the MS forum about whether one can skip a dose of Avonex to avoid the major side effects during the holiday festivities. Some who take Avonex feel quite sick for a day or two. I'm lucky not to, but still this is a good question. Perhaps you could answer in terms of all 4 DMDs. Thank you.
Avatar m tn Can Kidney pain be a side effect of taking Ibuprofen? I was taking ibuprofen last week consecutively for 3 days (400mg t.i.d) after laser eye surgery. A day or so after starting it I experienced mild pain/discomfort in my left flank that came in waves. When I stopped taking the ibuprofen the flank pain also stopped. The next day I took one more dose - the flank pain started again within an hour, but was gone the next day.
Avatar f tn Not doing this can increase your chance of stomach ulcers as well, as ibuprofen increases your chances of bleeding. In your case with having a D&C, you do not want to take too much as you have had a procedure, and you do not want to increase the bleeding. 3) I suggest if you are having pain, rotate the medications you are taking.
Avatar f tn //www.drugs.com/sfx/plavix-side-effects.html Natural alternative: Nattokinase is a potent fibrinolytic (anti-clotting) enzyme extracted and highly purified from a traditional Japanese food called Natto. Nattokinase enhances our body’s natural ability to fight blood clots, and has an advantage over blood thinners because it has a prolonged effect without side effects.
Avatar n tn easy bleeding/bruising, persistent joint/muscle pain, painful erections. Tell your doctor immediately if you develop symptoms of liver disease, including persistent nausea, stomach/abdominal pain, dark urine, yellowing eyes/skin. A very serious allergic reaction to this drug is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if it occurs. Symptoms of a serious allergic reaction may include: rash, itching, swelling, severe dizziness, trouble breathing.

Avatar f tn no periods, no spotting and no other side effects whatsoever. My experience has been horrible. For the first 6 weeks, all was well, no bleeding/spotting and no other symptoms. A few weeks ago, however, I began spotting. Every day it became heavier. After a week of spotting/light bleeding, the last couple of weeks have been the heaviest and most prolonged bleeding I've ever experienced. Thankfully I don't have any other symptoms, no cramping, no weight gain, no headaches, etc..
1182699 tn?1297574784 Just a quick question about the effects of Ibuprofen on the heart. Sometimes when I feel I'm having a bad "heart" day, either really strong beats followed by weak ones, or my PVC's/PAC's, I will take an advil and I usually start feeling better. I mentioned this to my PCP once and he said Ibuprofen has many effects on the body, it's not just a fever reducer/pain reliever so it very well could be effecting the heart.
Avatar f tn I just want a little clarification. I've had the Nexplanon implant for about...3 months now. I've done my research and read all of the side effects. I haven't had a menstrual cycle since the implant, I have also taken a pregnancy test and came out negative. I know this is mentioned on a lot of side effect lists but I just want to make sure there's nothing I should rush to a doctor to get checked out.
Avatar f tn All I am worried about is whether it would stop the bleeding in the next 72 hours. And what about the side effects ? I am not at all allergic to anything and I also don't have any history of diseases. But still I am really worried. If possible then also suggest some other meds to stop the bleeding anyhow in the next 72 hours. Please please please respond ASAP !!!
Avatar f tn Care needs to be taken with using anti-inflammatory medications like Ibuprofen. This type of medication is known to cause stomach bleeding and should always be taken with or after food. Sometimes a doctor will prescribe a stomach remedy to protect the stomach when using Ibuprofen. Ibuprofen does not suit everyone and can also cause oedema (swelling). Because this question has been posted in the Women's Health Community, are you talking about menstrual cramps?
Avatar m tn I recently read that one of the side effects of circumcision is meatal stenosis and that uncircumcised men don't suffer from it. Is that correct? Also, would this side effect occur if a male had a frenoplasty? Do any of the other side effects of circumcision apply to a frenoplasty?
Avatar f tn I am sorry you suffered the side effects. I was on Avonex for 15 years and found that if I started ibuprofen around 4:00 in the afternoon and took it every 4 hours or so, and took the shot around 8 pm on a Friday night, I felt okay by Saturday afternoon. I also put ibuprofen next to my bed in case the side effects woke me up during the night. I wish you all the best. Just remember HANG IN it will get easier.
Avatar f tn Hi there, Emergency contraception is almost 80-85% effective if taken between 24-48 hours and 50-55% effective if taken between 48-72 hours.Headache, dizziness, breast tenderness and vaginal bleeding are the common side effects of taking emergency contraceptive pills. A few women may experience light bleeding in the days after taking Postinor-2. This is not a normal period and is nothing to worry about. If the bleeding is persistent or severe consult a gynecologist. Hope it helps.
1654058 tn?1407159066 Karen, Your platelets are already low, and NSAIDs can increase the risk for bleeding; imho, acetaminophen over the ibuprofen, hands down. With low platelets from tx and a compromised liver and kidney system, any of the NSAIDs are contra-indicated for you (includes Motrin, Advil, Aleve). Tylenol is not to be taken indiscriminately either, though. With cirrhosis, no more than 2000 mg per day max (that means no more than 4 Extra Strength Tylenol in any 24 hour period).
