ibuprofen

1148241 tn?1294052796 I recently quit taking Vicodin for my joint pain because I was concerned about liver damage. I have been taking Ibuprofen instead. I've been taking two in the morning and then two in the afternoon. It says don't take longer than 10 days though. I have to take something though. My knees and wrists and fingers hurt too much if I don't. I know you guys aren't Drs but experience counts for something if its what your Dr has told you. What do you guys take?
Avatar f tn I have been taking 4 7.5 mg hydrocodone for apprx. 1 year. This was prescribed for DJD in my right knee. I have been told I am too young for surgery. I have not been taking it as prescribed because it never worked. I take the entire 4 per day at one time about mid afternoon. This relieves my pain for about 8 hours. My doctor has told me that if I take them every 6 hours as prescribed before I experience pain they will work but this has not been the case.
Avatar f tn Chances are good that it's nothing serious. It may just be the start of perimenopause which can make for unpredictable bleeding. NSAID's (such as ibuprofen) especially a "prescription" dosage can reduce bleeding quite a bit. When you see a doctor you can discuss other medications, hormonal (some type of birth control) or non-hormonal (such as tranexamic acid, brand name Lysteda). Hope it all settles down for you!
Avatar n tn Ibuprofen is a bloodthinner. They say you arent supposed to take it...only tylenol. Because when you are pregnant the volume of blood in your body increases by 50%. If you were to have an accident, go into preterm labor, etc...you could bleed out and hemmorage. Causing lots of problems!
Avatar n tn The dosage is 1 30mg tablet every 4 to 6 hours. One should be swallowed with water with or after food with water. Also whiste taking this painkiller, do not drink alcohol. Dihydrocodeine tablets may reduce your ability to think clearly. Effects such as ‘pins and needles’, dizziness, spinning sensations, muscle rigidity, visual disturbances, drowsiness, confusion or hallucinations may occur. Do not drive or operate machinery if affected. These tablets can become addictive.
Avatar f tn Prescription ibuprofen contains 600mg per tablet, so I don’t believe taking four per day would be a problem short term. You could contact your dentist or pharmacist to check with them.
Avatar f tn Also wondering about the role of prescription meds. I've been on bupropion for a while now and I'm wondering if that may have any effect on my body chemistry. Anyone else on long-term medication?
Avatar n tn You should be just fine unless you have an allergy to ibuprofen. Prescription Motrin is 800mg of Ibuprofen so that is the equivalent of four of the 200mg Ibuprofen. If you don't break out in a rash or have breathing difficulties after taking one or two Ibuprofen, please don't lose sleep over taking a third. As I said, as long as you can take Ibuprofen in the first place without having a problem, three won't bother you.
Avatar f tn Sweetie, there is nothing that you can take that is "a night time formula" that would have that much Ibuprofen in a dose. You shouldn't exceed the recommended dosage and if you took something that said it was a night time formula then you probably took something with diphenydramine in it. What are the active ingredients on the bottle? What strength per dose? 2900mg of Ibuprofen plus anything for sleep in not good. You need to tell someone what you took before you go to sleep.
Avatar n tn 5 mg/80 mg hydrocodone/acetaminophen, 10 mg/80 mg hydrocodone/acetaminophen, 15 mg/80 mg hydrocodone/acetaminophen, 10 mg/100 mg hydrocodone/acetaminophen, 15 mg/100 mg hydrocodone/acetaminophen, 10 mg/200 mg hydrocodone/acetaminophen, 15 mg/200 mg hydrocodone/acetaminophen, 5 mg/500 mg hydrocodone/acetaminophen, 10 mg/200 mg hydrocodone/ibuprofen, and 15 mg/200 mg hydrocodone/ibuprofen
Avatar n tn Actually prescription ibuprofen comes in different dosages, including 600 and 800 mg. However, a 15 foot fall is very significant and he needs to be checked by a doctor to make sure there's no internal damage. Things don't always show right away. They'll also be able to give him better pain medication if necessary. Why doesn't he want to go to the ER?

Avatar m tn Can Kidney pain be a side effect of taking Ibuprofen? I was taking ibuprofen last week consecutively for 3 days (400mg t.i.d) after laser eye surgery. A day or so after starting it I experienced mild pain/discomfort in my left flank that came in waves. When I stopped taking the ibuprofen the flank pain also stopped. The next day I took one more dose - the flank pain started again within an hour, but was gone the next day.
Avatar m tn ve only had oral outbreaks so far, i asked the doctor for acyclovir and he gave me a prescription for 800mg tablets and to take them 2x daily for a total dose of 1600mg everyday as supressive therapy. i'm concerned this is too high a dose? i thought it should be 400mg and take 2x daily for a total dose of 800mg? it was an ER doctor that gave it to me because i don't have health insurance and went to the county hospital.
Avatar f tn The LAB is testing the levels of my prescribed dosage. It's called a PMP 15 panel... What is used to get my levels? Is it the urine or blood? An UA comp is ordered. Is anyone a chemist or lab technician that can answer that question? I went online and entered LC-MS/MS, and it shows that it's like a data base and since the war on opiates is in full swing I'm just wondering if I need to take everything and by that I mean if I'm prescribed 3-5 pills a day as needed.
Avatar m tn Hello & welcome....Ibuprofen is TOXIC to dogs....It sounds as if she is still in good shape, but needs a prescription for pain meds. from your Vet.....Your Vet will have a selection of meds to treat your girl's, what I beleive to be, Arthrititis....They work wonders.... The yellow bile is stomach acid and the Ibuprofen could possibly be damaging her stomach lining.....Usually, dogs vomit bile when they've gone too long without food.....
Avatar f tn I have a prescription for fluvoxamine. It says take 4 pills @50mg at bedtime.
Business man2 Hydrocodone only comes with either acetaminophen or ibuprofen. Tramadol is another medication that I use with my patients that is of equal effectiveness but does come without the other medications. However, some patients will experience nausea with tramadol. Good luck!
Avatar m tn Probably not (because you are asking). Don't risk it, don't upset the doctor. If I were you, I would telephone the office, and when the receptionist/nurse answers, I would word it like this: "Hello, I noticed the doctor changed the dosage of my prescription. When am I supposed (use the word "supposed") to get this prescription filled?" Let THEM tell YOU, and make notes to yourself who you talked to, the time, and date.
Avatar n tn Hydromorphone is stronger than Percocets but it seems like your doc offset that in the dosage. If you want to get off you should ask your doc for a taper plan.
Avatar n tn I've had 3 recent blood tests, all have come up with abnormal liver enzyme results. Everything else is normal. My AST first time was 112 ? ALT was 125. Second AST was 165 / ALT was 115, third was AST 105 / ALT 165. I'm a social drinker, but have abstained since first results (2+ weeks) & have tried to eliminate all toxic substances (I have taken a LOT of tylenol in the last 5 years for pain...thought it would be "gentler" than the arthritis prescription).
Avatar m tn I am currently prescribed ativan 1 mg from my doctor. My prescription ran out and I can't get it refilled until tomorrow. My husband has a prescription for ativan .5. I took one of his a few hours ago but wasn't strong enough for me as I am used to the 1 mg. MY question is ... Can I take another one now even though the first one hasn't worn off?
