ibuprofen

1654058 tn?1407159066 Over-the-counter pain medications such as NSAIDs (aspirin, Advil, Motrin, Aleve, and other medications) can cause unpredictable liver toxicity and kidney damage. They also can cause life threatening gastrointestinal bleeding. Something a cirrhotic wants to avoid at all costs. Acetaminophen has predictable hepatotoxicity and affects the liver in a dose-dependent manner.
Avatar f tn I had knee surgery a year ago and have been taking approximately 400 mg of ibuprohen daily for pain. Can this be a temporary toxicity to the pain med with a return to higher level of my GFR upon cessation? Praying in Texas!
Avatar m tn Can Kidney pain be a side effect of taking Ibuprofen? I was taking ibuprofen last week consecutively for 3 days (400mg t.i.d) after laser eye surgery. A day or so after starting it I experienced mild pain/discomfort in my left flank that came in waves. When I stopped taking the ibuprofen the flank pain also stopped. The next day I took one more dose - the flank pain started again within an hour, but was gone the next day.
Avatar n tn Although ibuprofen is toxic to dogs, I don't think that half a pill is that much cause for alarm. I would still keep a VERY close eye on her for the next few days. Ibuprofen causes bleeding ulcers in a dog's stomach, and if the dog continues to be dosed with ibuprofen, it leads to kidney failure and, eventually, death.

1386405 tn?1291587800 The biggest effect of Ibuprofen is in the last trimester. It affects the kidney/urine output of the fetus, which results in lower amniotic fluid levels. It can also thin your blood, which can increase the risk of heavy bleeding during delivery and after. Your OB will tell you the same thing. Everything will be ok, and now you know, and you won't take it again. Good luck with the pregnancy!
Avatar n tn when i got home from vacation 3 days later i took him to the vet and they put him on an iv. i am worried about kidney problems!! does anyone know if he threw them up if there is a chance his kidneys will be ok? anyone who has gone threw anything similar please respond!!!!
Avatar m tn I have taken care of TWO patients in the past; one who had tylenol toxicity and the other one had ibuprofen toxicity. Both patients were going into liver failure in which was caught in time. Both thought is was ok to take more than the RECOMMENDED amount of medication. Please be careful.
Avatar m tn Damage to the kidneys may cause signs of acute kidney failure such as increased thirst, increased urination, vomiting, diarrhea, loss of appetite, lethargy and dilute urine (lighter in color). Symptoms associated with damage to the liver include jaundiced skin, gums, inside of ears, and sclera (whites of the eyes) as well as vomiting, diarrhea, loss of appetite and lethargy.
Avatar m tn So far I haven't seen any studies on reduced kidney toxicity.
Avatar f tn Now Not pregnant and my hep doctor says that I can go on enteclavir since it does not have the kidney toxicity concern. Mid anyone on enteclavir and have any side effects. Also am nursing, is it safe for baby? Doctor says enteclavir is very safe to take.
Avatar n tn //www.livestrong.com/article/143598-problems-with-white-willow-bark/ Also, if you have low platelets due to your liver disease you may be at risk for bleeding. White willow bark and aspirin are contraindicated. Take care of your pain, just use with caution. Good luck to you.
Avatar n tn ibuprofen have reported death cases on people with liver diseases, same aspirin, absolutely out of question the safest and most potent pain relever is harpagoside contained in Devil's Claw: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harpagophytum no toxicity at any dose it is a vegetable used regularly for centuries in several countires.
620923 tn?1452915648 Interestingly, the pop up ad near this was for vitamins for withdrawal from opiates. I couldn't tell what they are. I'm sure some suggestions could be found online or right here at medhelp. I found suggestions for lots of Vit. B & C for toxicity. I did this myself for serotonin toxicity, which took much longer than any source claimed. I'm off everything except ibuprofen (but I am trying a very small dose of mirtazapine at night, to sleep).
Avatar n tn Generally, a high serum creatinine level means that the kidneys are not working well. Causes include kidney failure (acute or chronic), kidney infection, drug toxicity, dehydration, high blood pressure (hypertension), and high sugar levels (diabetes). It is possible to have acute renal failure and still have normal-sized kidneys. Renal atrophy may result from chronic renal disease or infection, as well as other conditions such as narrowing of renal arteries or obstruction of urinary tract.
Avatar f tn My brother told me that his doctor said his kidney was not functioning as well as it should for someone his age. He also has a touch of scoliosis. Some of his organs are compresses because of the curvature. The doctor wants to do some test. What does this Mean? Is there something that can be done? I am really concerned. Thank you all.
Avatar n tn Therefore, any disorders that disrupt kidney functioning (including dehydration) make digitalis toxicity more likely. Generally, most drugs should be gradually increased and monitored. And going off a drug should be gradual as well so the body's system can adjust to the change. With chf the heart's contractions are weaker than normal, and digoxin helps provide a stronger beating heart.
Avatar m tn be very carefull about what you take, their source and make blood tests while taking them to check toxicity/benefit http://archive.mail-list.com/hbv_research/message/20101201.190417.3706e442.en.
Avatar m tn I have been taking maximum daily dosage of generic ibuprofen (3200 mg a day, usually 1600mg at a time). I also take 600mg etodolac, 400 in the am and 200 in the pm. I have been having kidney pain on both sides, and excessive sweating. Could this be from taking too much NSAID medication?
Avatar f tn I have had really bad issues with walking, now requiring a can, for about a year. Diagnosed with Spinal Stenosis. It's gotten so bad that I started doing research. I have been doing 5-day energy shots daily for 6 months now - about 40mg of B6 per day (was doing emergen-c's before that). I'm thinking my walking, tingling may indeed be B6 toxicity and am going for a blood test this afternoon. I've gotten a lot of good information from this group - thank you.
Avatar f tn ve heard a couple of doctors (not diabetes specialists) say that diabetics should never take ibuprofen because of potential damage to the kidneys, which, coupled with the potential damage from the diabetes itself, could significantly increase the possibility of kidney failure. I would be very interested to hear what diabetes specialists have to say on this because prior to this many doctors (fully aware of the type 1 diabetes) recommended daily ibuprofen for various problems such as back pain.
963889 tn?1359677334 My girlfriend had an open biopsy on her kidneys and it showed ibuprofen caused the damage. Her doctor in Florida did some research on Ibuprofen and then did a report for the AMA. Ibruprofen (advil and etc) is the number one cause of kidney failure of over the counter products in the Nation.
163305 tn?1333668571 The study results suggest that long-term exposure to an ultra-low, environmental dose of Roundup at an glyphosate-equivalent concentration of only 50 ppt (parts per trillion), in an established laboratory animal toxicity model system, can result in liver and kidney damage, with potential significant health implications for humans as well as domesticated animal and wildlife populations. The study performed by Dr.
222267 tn?1253302210 m waiting for liver/kidney function tests to come back as well as a pile of others, they took 9 vials of blood. I told her to take pint if that helped lol. I'm not one to complain, and grin and bear most things. I wonder if there is some permanant damage because I didn't think this was serious. I'm glad you are out of the hospital and feeling better! I think I'm in your shoes.
1479333 tn?1287459073 Long exposure to medication may build up a level of toxins in your body. Toxins may cause problem to kidney, and problematic kidney may cause twitches. Toxins also becloud your clear thinking. I'm not trying to scare you. Once again, there's a cure for that. The best natural cure I believe is releasing toxins off your body. You have a long life ahead of you, and you don't want to keep building up toxins.
