Ibuprofen kidney function tests

Common Questions and Answers about Ibuprofen kidney function tests

ibuprofen

Avatar n tn s body is unique and reacts differently to toxins. I would be concerned with kidney function in addition to liver function and, yes, kidney damage can be permanent. Chances are you're just fine but for your peace of mind get an appt with your doctor and ask to have lab work to measure your kidney and liver function. Usually, staying well hydrated and eating properly will keep your organs in good condition. Good luck!
Avatar m tn Can Kidney pain be a side effect of taking Ibuprofen? I was taking ibuprofen last week consecutively for 3 days (400mg t.i.d) after laser eye surgery. A day or so after starting it I experienced mild pain/discomfort in my left flank that came in waves. When I stopped taking the ibuprofen the flank pain also stopped. The next day I took one more dose - the flank pain started again within an hour, but was gone the next day.
1326572 tn?1275500911 My liver and blood count look great but my doc said my kidney function is slightly off. The creatinine is high at 1.09 and the GFR is low at 54. I was occasionally taking ibuprofen but have stopped completely now. I'm also on mtx, folic acid, norco for pain and also xanax. The doc said she wasn't too worried but she wants to watch it. I'm wondering if anyone else has had the same sort of thing.
Avatar m tn If you can, I would recommend seeing your doctor and having lab tests done, a simple blood test can test your kidney, liver function. I would also recommend maybe drinking more water if you don't already to cleanse your system. Good luck!
Avatar f tn Agreed... you should have a Urologist test your kidney-function. High creatinine is generally a good indicator of poor kidney-function, or at the very least, reduced kidney-function. Good luck to you.
Avatar m tn Do you take any drugs and if you do which ones - they can impact kidney function. In the clinic where I worked, muscle seizures were caused by too little hydration in the blood system - do you drink enough fluid during your workouts?
Avatar f tn I ask because I seem to get some mild paid from my Right kidney shortly after I have a drink. I have recently had some blood tests too, and my GP said my liver blood tests were high. I'm currently awaiting the results from a liver scan, and I'm having further blood tests next week too. My GP is not aware of the self harm. I have since been feeling very tired, I'm eating g a lot so have put weight on and I struggle to concentrate on my work and get quite angry with people.
Avatar m tn There unfortunately are no good ways to pin down kidney function. End stage kidney disease sneaks up on alot of people, even ones who are being well followed by careful doctors. However, one thing you might do is get a creatinine clearance test. Again not the best of tests, but it is common and gives more informaiton than straight serum creatinine.
Avatar f tn Your gyn can order a complete blood panel be done... to test your kidney function. You need to get your GFR, creatine, BUN, etc tested. If you had any infection it should have known up in your urine. "Flank" pain, which is a combo of rib cage and back pain, can indicate your kidneys are irritated from something but you need further testing. I would get your urine re-tested too.
Avatar n tn May be wise to have your labs checked Creatinine and BUN and GFR for kidney function.
Avatar m tn there are things you can do to improve kidney function, and you can also find out the factors behind decreased kidney function in your case. The Kidney Foundation is a good source for information. Levels less than 60 for over 3 months is considered chronic kidney disease. So if this is your first test, you need to keep monitoring it to make sure it does not decrease further towards the lower values.
963889 tn?1359677334 Systemic effects of kidney failure like anemia, hypertension or repeated infections will further compromise the kidney function and hence the deterioration in GFR and kidney function. It can only be monitored to gauze the progress and the symptoms are treated. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar f tn When Dad is in heart failure he needs additional dosages of diaretics. Too much diaretic can effect kidney function and too little will effect heart function. We did see a kidney specialist concerning this, and the primary care physician is in communication with him. Dad also has vascular dementia. I know how hard dealing with memory loss can be for both patient and family. I will keep you all in my prayers.
Avatar f tn My kidney doctor (nephrologist) basically said that making it easier on the kidney can allow it to function better. It will help the GFR stay the same and sometimes you can gain. I am a bit of an oddity, it doesn't usually go up 20 points, but you could slow it down or hold at the current.
1797428 tn?1435966384 I would remember when googling that the kidney disease they are referring to is usually stage 4 or 5 which is less than 30% function. So the big scary things that happen at those stages aren't going to affect you. I'd monitor it yearly to make sure it isn't going down, but other than that I wouldn't worry about it. It would be at the same level of worry as being told your cholesterol is a wee bit high.
Avatar n tn Has anyone noticed any difference in blood sugar numbers while regularly taking Ibuprofen, or other NSAIDS? I've had some health anxiety, and stopped taking ibuprofen in fear of kidney issues. But I notice my post dinner readings have been worse. I was only taking about 600mg before bed daily. Would that still effect blood sugar by dinner time the next day? Glad I'm off the pills. Just scared will affect BS control.
512560 tn?1222560127 It most often results from any disease that causes gradual loss of kidney function. It can range from mild dysfunction to severe kidney failure . Progression may continue to end-stage renal disease.Chronic renal failure usually occurs over a number of years as the internal structures of the kidney are slowly damaged. In the early stages, there may be no symptoms.
Avatar f tn Often times, blood pressure meds, especially diuretics, will hurt your kidneys.
Avatar n tn Yes, the renal profile usually is a BUN and Creatinine and checks the kidney function. The B12 is probably looking for anemia and/or B12 deficiency.
Avatar n tn my bun is 63 and my creatine is 8.02 and im 60 yrs. old.

Avatar m tn s kidneys started shutting down about a year ago due to what the doctors think is an allergy to ibuprofen. She was on the verge of needing a kidney transplant. The doctors put her on Prednisone, though, and now her kidney function is almost 100% again! It's all about treatment. Just thank God that we've got that! Best of luck you. I am sure you have a long life ahead of you.
