The CT scan showed an inflamed kidney. The doctor now believes a kidney infection and has prescribed cipro and Tylenol and Ibuprofen for pain. After 5 days, the pain (while not constant) has not diminished. He often has the chills and a fever that runs 2-3 degrees above normal. One other (possibly not related) issue is that his pain is usually most significant early morning (possibly due to 8 hours of sleep with no tylenol/ibuprofen).
Can Kidney pain be a side effect of taking Ibuprofen? I was taking ibuprofen last week consecutively for 3 days (400mg t.i.d) after laser eye surgery. A day or so after starting it I experienced mild pain/discomfort in my left flank that came in waves. When I stopped taking the ibuprofen the flank pain also stopped.
The next day I took one more dose - the flank pain started again within an hour, but was gone the next day.
Are gall bladder and kidney damage associated with Hep C infection? If so, please explain the relationship and possible effects.
Today I still have constant burning sensations and tingling in my back, legs, feet, arms, and hands (now neck too). Sometimes I have numbness. Now taking Gabapentin 3x daily, Ibuprofen 800mg, Cyclobenzaprine 10mg. My primary doc is on vacation and I want her to give me an MRI order for my full spine. I've only gotten an order for only my lumbar spine from another doctor.
What could I have.....
My brother told me that his doctor said his kidney was not functioning as well as it should for someone his age. He also has a touch of scoliosis. Some of his organs are compresses because of the curvature.
The doctor wants to do some test. What does this Mean? Is there something that can be done? I am really concerned.

I have been taking maximum daily dosage of generic ibuprofen (3200 mg a day, usually 1600mg at a time). I also take 600mg etodolac, 400 in the am and 200 in the pm. I have been having kidney pain on both sides, and excessive sweating. Could this be from taking too much NSAID medication?
ve heard a couple of doctors (not diabetes specialists) say that diabetics should never take ibuprofen because of potential damage to the kidneys, which, coupled with the potential damage from the diabetes itself, could significantly increase the possibility of kidney failure. I would be very interested to hear what diabetes specialists have to say on this because prior to this many doctors (fully aware of the type 1 diabetes) recommended daily ibuprofen for various problems such as back pain.
Since NSAIDs may cause salt and water retention people with fluid retention problems such as ascites or leg swelling may suffer worsening of these conditions. People with decompensated cirrhosis are at increased risk kidney damage stemming from the use of NSAIDs. Since this may lead to hepatorenal syndrome, people with advanced liver disease are advised to totally avoid all NSAIDs.
I had bloodwork done that showed my GFR to be 48. I have an appointment with the Kidney Specialist. I am just wondering if anyone knows what can cause this in a person my age. I am worried .
I try to have my patients take very little daily ibuprofen/naproxen as they can lead to kidney disease (based on total lifetime dose), high blood pressure (meloxicam) and stomach ulcers. Also, the anti-platelet effect of aspirin (which is how it prevents heart attacks) is reduced when taken with daily ibuprofen/naproxen.

I have so many problems already, I'm so fed up. Doctors don't listen to you once you've been given a "catch-all diagnosis". I'm very upset, and I just want to know if I should worry about this at this point, or what I should watch out for in the future.
If it continues to decrease, you need to talk to dr about what the underlying cause might be...Kidney Foundation stages that at Stage 2 kidney disease, but that sounds a lot scarier than it is. I freaked out when I read about my own score of 80 GFR...but I have come to know that I have to monitor the level, they can fluctuate, dehydration is a factor, as well as other sickness etc. Do you have any other health conditions or diagnoses?
for about a week I took Ibuprofen, rolaids and even dramamine. My vitamin d level was low (23). The Nurse Practitioner who ordered the lab work prescribed meds for H Pylori, which I am still taking....she said an ultrasound might be a good idea, but nothing ordered so far and has not been mentioned again....nothing yet for the low vitamin d...can't imagine what is causing my blood work to be out of whack...I work full time, I am outside when it is warm...
I have been trying to scientifically figure out what is causing these conditions - keeping a food journal, seeking help of allergist, dermatologist and a GP. They provide me with antiinflammatories and anti histimine meds, but to no avail. About two months ago, I started reducing my medicaine intake and notices that the symptoms have subsided. The whole overbody hives experience had lessened. Last night, I took 800 ml of Ibuprofen for pain.
