I have a shoulder problem and used to be on strong pain killers, but my doctor told me to change to heat rubs!

I've been having very bad tooth aches. I used to take ibuprofen & it stop the pain almost immediately. I'm 7 weeks. Can I take 1?

I have been taking nsaids for along time now. and nothing has helped. I have also used Voltaren gel, Lyrica, topamax nothing has helped the pain I am having in my wrist.

Get some aloe vera gel for the burn/blisters (pure aloe is best.) Also Tylenol or ibuprofen will help the pain a bit. Drink plenty of fluids. Orange juice is a good choice. I had a very bad burn once that caused me to be in the ER. They gave me IV fluids and told me about the ibuprofen and fluids. They specifically mentioned orange juice ... maybe for the potassium. Also, I'm sure you're already aware, but tanning isn't a good thing to do.

The top of my left shoulder is quite painful to the touch. I've tried ibuprofen tablets and gel, also paracetamol and codeine tablets. I've previously had some worries about chest pain being angina although all tests for this are negative. The pain goes into my neck a bit when I press my shoulder, I'm fairly happy this pain is not heart related. But wonder what I can do to treat it.

whenever i take even one 550mg (naproxen) ibuprofen and then drink, my stomach gets tender and bloated and i feel bad. i usually take a maalox or something like that, yet i never throw up from it so i don't know if that's applicable for you. i think it is due to the ibuprofen, but if you're not used to eating spicy foods then it could have disagreed with you, not necessarily meaning food poisoning. you should never drink and take NSAIDs at the same time.

I am looking for anything too because I would like to take zero Norco. Sometimes I used a topical gel called Biofreeze - I got it from the chiropracter. Massages really help but are expensive! Hope that helps a bit....

Hi, I ended up inserting some of an alcohol-based gel into my urethra 3 days ago. I have been using Azo for the pain, which is helping some, but I am surprised at how little the symptoms are abating. Could it be that this will take a while to heal? Could this have caused some kind of permanent damage?

I know how bad it can be. I had a joint replacement in my left thumb but the implant failed and wound up having 9 surgeries, countless meds, procedures, etc. I don't know if you've tried glucosamine chondroiton. It can help rebuild cartilage if you haven't gone too far. It was too late for my hands but it may be helping other spots I have. What kind of doctor are you seeing? I get some relief from a prescription gel called Voltaren.

I've never used orajel for that reason. We aren't even allowed to use it at the daycare with a doctors note. I've never tried teething tablets because they seem like they wouldn't do anything and could be a choking hazard. I give my children Tylenol or Ibuprofen for teething but you can't use ibuprofen if they are under 6 months.

the nurse said it was because the nerve ending were severed and to take 300 mg of ibuprofen every four hours. It seemed to work for awhile, but a month later my doctor told me I shouldn't be taking the ibuprofen because it would ruin my stomach. It is four months later and these same pains are back. Nope. Ibuprofen firstly won't help with a cold at all. It only relieves fever, pain, and swelling. Second, ibuprofen shouldn't be used in pregnancy and on the rare occasion that your Dr gives the okay, it is NEVER to be used in the 3rd trimester.

I can't think of any OTC drugs that might help except for ibuprofen but I'm not sure if that would do the trick. Watch out taking ibuprofen especially if you have stomach issues (ulcers, heartburn, gerd) because it can cause stomach upset and bleeding if you have an ulcer. Ibuprofen helps with inflammation and pain. What have tried so far? I wouldn't try heat..it might make it worse. I can't believe they just want you to "make do and handle it"!

I had surgery 3 months ago to remove a vagal schwannoma and some enlarged lymph nodes from in the left side of my neck. For the first two months I was completely numb from my earlobe to the bottom of my neck on the right side of the incision. Volini gel is available on chemist outlets. It is an over the counter gel. It's also available in spray format. I've used it & have found it to be very effective on pain.

whenever i carry any small weight like 2 or 3 kg i feel pressure and pain in sternum..Only ibuprofen gel (muscuskeleton pain relief) give me temporary relief.Sleeping at straight position also give relief from pain but i feel pain if i turn on sides.I cant wear tight cloth at the end of sternum.it increases pain.

You can try a pain relieving gel and heat regularly. Ibuprofen gel and a hot water bottle are my friends! Also try not to chew too much, have a mainly soft diet for a few days.

I have a lot of back / spine issues. I take some pretty heavy medication, but as far as OTC meds go, I find Liquid Gel Advil helps me the most. A couple of things to keep in mind: Ibuprofen can damage your kidneys and acetaminophen (Tylenol) can damage your liver. Prescription meds like hydrocodone have acetaminophen in them. Good luck.

Sorry about your injury. Using ibuprofen gel or topical NSaids does not necessarily have to be covered. You can ask your doctor about that or the pharmacist where you frequent. A few points, remember to not mix with other nsaids, avoid touching your eyes, mouth or open wound, WASH YOUR HANDS after application, use only the amount the doctor has prescribed for you, don't shower or swim or wash the area for at least an hour after putting it on, and try to keep the area cool.

Hey Grace, I was wondering if you knew anything about this topical treatment which showed substantial promise in phase II trials before apparently failing in phase III trials. Is it used for anything today or available anywhere?
