Hello ladies, i visited my doctor today for a check up & she told me I'm at risk for preterm labor. I understand than young women 17 and younger are at risk. I'm seventeen, turning 18 in ten days. This is my first baby, 28 weeks & two days, 5'3" & have gained 27pounds throughout my pregnancy. But really, you cannot tell. Any advice? Should i be worried? Make early plans?
So today I was tested for preterm labor and the test came back positive. So I was sent to l&d where they monitored me, gave me a steroid shot to develop babies lungs, and sent me home. They said to watch for contractions and come back in if they get worse. I'm now having really bad back cramps, like I'm getting my peroid. They are pretty constant but have times where they get worse. They hurt so bad they are waking me up from sleep. Do you think I should go back in?
I went into preterm labor at 34 weeks. I dilated 2cm. I'm on medication to stop contractions. Sometimes it seems to work and other times I still get regular contractions. Has anyone else gone into labor while on medicine? And when did they let you off of it? I get major back pain since I started taking it and been on bedrest.
I had my 2nd at 36 weeks which is still considered preterm. He was 8 lbs! But had a little trouble breathing for the first few minutes. Only thing I noticed weeks leading up to birth was frequent BH contractions. I would have like 10 in 1 hour for 2 weeks straight. They gave me steroids to develop his lungs at 35 weeks and could not stop my contractions so I was induced at 36 weeks.
My son was born at 35 wks and he was tiny but didn't need the nicu. So just pray and know baby will be OK with or without nicu!! Be glad it didn't happen any earlier your both in good hands. We are all praying for you and your baby.
What are some signs of preterm labor? I'm 33 weeks and just curious as to what I should watch for. I know everyone's different and not everything that's mentioned will happen and be preterm.

I went through the same thing at 23wks i went into labor and had a baby girl who lived for 24 hrs.. i was not depressed since i had my husband support and family to put everything away before i got home from the hospital..i pray the lord if that was his decision i knew i just had accepted because he had better plans for my family ..2 years later i got pregnant again with a girl and they had to watch me every 2 wks and got progesterone injections so would go into labor..
I was 6months when I went into preterm labor. No signs at first but when that day came I hurried like crazy in my stomach. She was 1lb when she was born. But unfortunately she died 22days later. Now I'm pregnant again and 6 1/2 months. Doctor has me on a strict bed rest no driving at all. This is very scary for me but I'm hanging in there. To you just change in there and do what your doctor says and everything will be ok.
Been having preterm labor and on procardia since week 25, was back in the er tonight because I lost my mucus plug and started contracting. They told me I was 1.5 cm dilated and 70% efaced. Just wondering how long other people stayed that dilated or if I should expect labor soon?
Oh & they sent me home on bed rest because of no change in 4 hours.
She had been I think 3cm dilated and very effaced. They gave her steriods for the baby and gave her meds to stop labor for a week. Then when they felt she had it under control they sent her home on bed rest. Her story has a happy ending. They ended up having to inducr her at just over 40 weeks because her daughter decided she didnt want to come out after all. Miracles do happen. Good luck!
I am 22 weeks and just had an ultrasound to determine the sex while finding out I am being blessed with a baby boy I also received the news that I have a very short cervix that is 80% thinned they are expecting preterm labor or have a miscarriage I may have to go in for steroids for lung development does that hurt and has anyone had this problem and had a successful birth how probable is it that my baby will live
yes there are risks with ALL meds during pregnancy, not only does it make your heart race(also brings babies rate up) makes you very shaky and has been linked to autism. Which then puts you at a point of which is the worst of the two evils right??!! I agree about the weight. in any ultrasound reading there is a difrence in a pound either way.....right i have been on strict bed rest since 32 weeks and no change in dialtion still at 1.
