Common Questions and Answers about Ibuprofen for joint pain

ibuprofen

Avatar f tn I've been having pain in my fingers, knees, hips and ankles for about a year, maybe a bit longer. I'm 28 years old and live a pretty active life. I've looked up joint pain on the internet and all I find is arthritis, but I really don't think that's what I have. Any help?
Avatar m tn Joint pain is a common symptom. Then it gets worse with treatment... at least it did for me, but the Ibuprofen does pretty much take care of it. Just be careful to not take too much.
Avatar f tn anyways at the time I didn’t have hip pain, wasn’t til a month later around my periods I got hip pain for the first time, didn’t think anything of it, and r went away, however this time I got my periods not sure if it’s coincident or my periods trigger it but it’s very painfully my hip area, I can’t bend forward as my hip joints hurt. It’s like a dull ache and alternates between both hips. Could this be from the hit and run accident? And does anyone know what it could be?
Avatar f tn s husband is a physical therapist and he has taken a look at my knees and hips but found nothing. I have tried ibuprofen and anti-inflammatory pain killers but it did not work. I've also been prescribed medication to try to control the pain like naproxen and relafin. I am now taking neurontin. i just started it yesterday so i am not completely sure if it is working well. There is nothing that really causes the pain. It happens at random intervals.
Avatar f tn I have joint pain (big toes, hand and knees) for a month now and I got soft lumps on both knees. The doctor told me to take ibuprofen and ordered some blood tests. The ibuprofen does not work anymore and my blood test results came back normal except for that ANA thing. It says that I need to interpret together with FBC,ESR, CRP, Renal and LFT .

1415174 tn?1453243103 I am on clonazepam for my migraines, and they only give me Tylenol and Ibuprofen plus a muscle relaxer for 10 days. I have been taking 10 mg Amitriptyline for 7 years (also for migraine) but they have tried to increase that. I really need help with the pain in order to get moving again. Any suggestions?
Avatar m tn I'm 28 and I have joint pain in my finger joints and I feel it in my wrists sometimes too. And in the digits of my feet (I think). I have no RF in my blood and the doctor said just take Ibuprofen. I am slightly over weight because of bulimia. I've had gluten sensitivity problems (makes me sluggish and hungry). AND labyrinthitus in the past months. No thyroid problems. Not diabetic. Feeling it might be Fibromyalgia ? I'm lost.
Avatar f tn t quite as bad as it was the first couple of weeks. I have found that if I take 400 mg of Ibuprofen when I first start to notice the pain that it clears it up in about 15 minutes... just don't wait until the pain is real bad because it takes a lot longer to clear it if you do. I think the best thing we can do is relieve as many sx as possible to give us a better chance of making it to the last shot without quitting. Hang in there........
Avatar m tn anxiety does not normally cause joint pain unless your anxiety causes you to hold your joint rigidly for a period of time. any ticks in your area when you are outside? some tick bites can cause joint pain and fatigue.
534785 tn?1329592208 For those of you suffering from really painful joint aches/pains, what do you do or take to alleviate the pain? I've been taking ibuprofen, but I'm wondering if anyone has done anything else, aside from take synthetic hormones, that has helped lessen the pain, since I'd prefer not to consistently take ibuprofen. Also, tremoring--do I have to wait until I receive synthetic hormones to get rid of the constant shaking, or is there something that might help with this? Thanks!
Avatar f tn s alright with your doctor- be sure and ask you cardiologist, take 600 mg of ibuprofen for inflammation when the pain is extra bad, but cyclic would likely be a bad idea (without even asking your doctor) right now with your heart problem, as ibuprofen can increase risk of heart attack, I believe. Alternatively, try a couple extra strength tylenol over the counter medication when the pain is bad.
1148241 tn?1294052796 I recently quit taking Vicodin for my joint pain because I was concerned about liver damage. I have been taking Ibuprofen instead. I've been taking two in the morning and then two in the afternoon. It says don't take longer than 10 days though. I have to take something though. My knees and wrists and fingers hurt too much if I don't. I know you guys aren't Drs but experience counts for something if its what your Dr has told you. What do you guys take?
Avatar m tn I'm so sorry about your situation. As Deebelle mentioned, do ensure you've looked into any and all government services. Talk to your doctor and ask him if there is any program that can help you. In the mean time use either heat or cold (some people have more success with one than the other - heat with baths or a heating pad work for me) to help the pain. Take NSAID's - aspirin or ibuprofen around the clock to help the pain and inflammation.
Avatar n tn Sounds like you work for UPS or something - that's a tough job! I have a lot of joint pain and, for me, the only OTC med that helps is liquid gel Advil. Be careful though, my doctor told me that ibuprofen can kill your kidneys. I hope you find relief.
1029507 tn?1287714315 i just talked to my llmd nurse she told me when i come down we will talk about morphine for my pain, right now i take Oxycontin for pain she said that is just a short term help, she said that morphine works for chronic pain.

Avatar n tn Hi there, for me it started when i lose my voice (not competely) but no pain in the throat area. then area around my left jaw joint area (below the ear) starts to feel uncomfortable especially every time i moved my jaw or open my mouth wide to eat something. i dont have toothache etc. then i start to have running nose and nose block. i went to see a GP, he say there is slight infection in the ear and nose. i was on medication for 6 days.
Avatar n tn t find anything wrong with the tooth filled or any abscess..so she gave me antibiotic-amoxicillin and took 200mg of Ibuprofen for pain. But after 3 days, I had a bad reaction to Amoxicillin. Went to a medical Doctor and I told her what happened, had an x-ray again and gave me a shot for inflammatory..and gave me a new antibiotic- azithromycin and a 600 mg ibuprofen every after 6 hours. But 2 days after, i have face swelling so i thought 600mg of ibuprofen is too much so I went back to 200mg..
Avatar m tn My mother is suffering from pain in the LISFRANC JOINT SECTION of her both her feet since two years now. She did not have an accident and there was no fracture in the X-Ray, Doctors here have recommended some pain killers but they are not the solution to the problem. Does Anybody have a better solution or suggestion. Please Reply.
237053 tn?1258828426 I have found that nerve pain does not really respond to antiinflammatory meds like ibuprofen whereas joint or muscle pain sometimes does.
Avatar n tn "I was diagnosed with diabetes last year" Controlling and managing your diabetes is an important step in avoiding other health risks, something you have not told us about so we cannot help you unless you provide us with more information. Have you spoken with or seen a doctor? Your symptoms mimic an internal infection that is worsening. You're not going to find an answer nor a cure on any health forums, only from a thorough medical evaluation by a doctor.
1110049 tn?1409402144 You could try using commercially available NSAID/ anaesthetic ointments such as those containing ibuprofen/ lidocaine for pain relief. The topical ointments are devoid of most systemic side effects of the medications. Hope this is helpful. Take care!
Avatar m tn Sometimes an MRI exam may show inflammation, but there are no specific signs to diagnose frozen shoulder. Apply warm compresses and take some anti inflammatory pain killers like Ibuprofen/ Diclofenac. If the symptoms persist then get it evaluated from an orthopedician. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor.
Avatar m tn Last August I discovered a bubble on my left knee cap and was told it was bursitis. That went away with Ibuprofen. For the past few months, I have had a bad burning feeling in my left knee. It is there most of the time when I am at rest or up walking around. I am a Pharmacy Technician so I do not do a lot of physical work. I do sit at a desk most of the time.I do not recall injuring it. I went to my local Prompt care this past weekend and the doctor said it is not bursitis.
1327032 tn?1288840755 I take 2 Ibuprofen when the joint aches first start and it goes away pretty quickly. If I wait too long to take something though, it takes a long time to get rid of the pain. This was recommended by my doctor when I first started tx.
