Common Questions and Answers about Ibuprofen for itching

ibuprofen

They symptoms include raised swelling spots /hives all over my body, facial swelling, especially the lips and eye areas, and terrible itching of skin and scalp. At one piont, I was diagnosed with asthma and put on a nebulizer for several months. The spots seem to move per occasion. I have been trying to scientifically figure out what is causing these conditions - keeping a food journal, seeking help of allergist, dermatologist and a GP.
I have been taking ibuprofen for years and have not had any problems. Within the past year I noticed that after taking Advil I started breaking out with hives under my eye. I have never had this problem then it started. I was wondering if anyone has ever had this happen to them and what if any were the causes identified. I am 30 years old and a smoker. Also, it doesn't happen all the time but only sometimes. I don't know what would cause this to happen and not consistently.
For some reason I believe that I read somewhere that Tylenol should be the "pain relief" drug to take for headache, muscle/joint ache, etc. versus Ibuprofen. Can someone comment if you know anything. Tylenol does nothing for me. I experience headaches every now and then. I try Tylenol, but after 3 hours, the headache is still there and sometimes worse. Ibuprofen seems to always take care of it.
I have had itching issues for years and just mentioned it to my PCP a few weeks ago. For me the worst part of the itching is on my arms and I will end up scratching until there is blood. My PCP suggested using some lotion on my arms. I don't yet know if this will work or not as the itching has subsided for the time being. But it does kind of make sense since it will change the sensations on my arms.
Hello, If you are taking Ibuprofen for several weeks, it is less likely to be due to allergic reaction to Ibuprofen. You can apply some calamine lotion at the rash as it will help in soothing the skin. You can take some OTC oral antihistamine medications like Benadryl or Claritin and see if it helps. If the symptoms persist then you may need topical or oral steroids for which you have to consult a dermatologist. also then specific skin causes have to be ruled out.
Hello, The itching in the vagina could be due to allergic reaction or contact dermatitis,STD’s ,vaginitis or due to lack of lubrication during intercourse. The small bumps that your husband is having can be due to friction rub or chaffing.Chaffing occurs when the skin becomes irritated by the friction caused by rubbing – either against other skin or against a foreign material.Ask your husband to wash the areas several times with fresh water and not to use any cosmetic products at the sites.
If you are certain it is not sex-related, try an aloe-based cream or gel to ease the itching and redness. Be sure that it is only natural ingredients. And if you are still stumped at what the cause could be, it's best to get it checked out by a doc.
A mild allergy will often cause itching, but without rash or hives. It can even occur to a med you have been on for a long time. For me it happened with aspirin and 2 decades later with all the NSAIDS (Non-steroidal anti-inflammorty drugs) like ibuprofen, Celaxa, Naproxen. I did get little hives, but that is not necessary.
I have had the itching arm problem for a number of years, as described by others, it goes away, often for years, then returns. I have it right now on my right arm. The only thing that helps me is ibuprofen 600mg every 6 hours, along with Sarna lotion. And ignoring it if at all humanly possible. Try the advil, I think it helps calm down the nerve endings.
Is everybody taking just tylenol/ibuprofen for sx misery? Perhaps prescribed opiates would help make the journey more tolerable? I understand the potential for addiction but would it be worth it? What say you?
I find this so embarrassing to even ask but for few months I've noticed I've been really red and itchy down there. Every time I shave it feels like I cut myself and burns the same way for few hours but I don't have cuts. I'm always very itchy and I can't control so I do itch a lot. Then when I go to the bathroom I notice that itchy part burns a lot. This irritation has been for months now and it's almost everyday. I havent been active about a year and half so I don't see why I have this problem.
Oh, and I've been taking Ibuprofen for the past 2 weeks because of my knees. Is it possible there is a link between that? I've never been one to take pills, so I honestly have no idea??

i have itching and some red spots i did not see before in my pubic area. most of the red spots are near my scrotum. i just buzzed down there about a week ago and about 3 days ago had protected sex. just wanted to know if any one knows what it could be.
I am not sure if this matters or not but in the middle of this treatment I had Anaphylactic Shock to Ibuprofen. Was treated in the ER for that. When the itching got so intense I couldn't stand it so I went to an Obgyn and he said I was having a sever allergic reaction so he took me off the miconazole and put me a steriod cream. He also put me on a differnt oral medicine. He did another pap which came back saying MODERATE GROWTH OF CANDIDA ALBICANS.
Doc has also given me some Double Base cream that will act as a barrier for when I wash up and shower. I need a cure very badly for the itching - I seem to wake up in the morning vigurously scratching my inflamed hands. I hope this doesnt happen on my wedding day - the ring wont fit!!!!!!!!!!!noooooooooo! Help If you have the same problem, I DO ALREADY PUT ICE CUBES IN A TEA TOWEL AND HOLD THAT FOR A WHILE, BUT CANT ALWAYS DO THAT IF IM OUT!
If the lumps persist then it will be best to get it evaluated from a dermatologist. For the itching take antihistaminics like Benadryl. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
I'm nineteen year-old female with very sensitive skin. For the past two years, only during the summer time, my legs sting and itch like crazy after I shave them. It feels like I'm being bitten all over by ants. The feeling usually lasts from thirty minutes to an hour and the itching and stinging is so intense most of the time that it brings me to tears. I thought it could be scabies, something neurological, or maybe even Lyme disease.
It first started with bad itching on my inner thighs , lower stomach , and pretty much all over my legs. Thought maybe it was the beggining of jock itch? Started taking tinactin witch didnt. About a week or two after i noticed red spots on my penis and scrotum witch started to become raised and seemed to flake at times. They then developed into lumps wich are slighty red in color itch at times on the underside of my penis and on my scrotum.
No rash yet. Having trouble sleeping, wake up throughout the night itching for hours. See Dr at Urgent Care and he says it's Dermatitis, gives me steroid pills. I take those and stop taking Benadryl. Two weeks ago: I see Dr. (family doc), He gives me Xyzal. I take this and start taking Benadryl and Ibuprofen with it. Does not get better. No rash. Still having trouble sleeping. One week ago: Rash appears in random spots, hips, chest, legs, feet. Dr.
Application of mild corticosteroid cream and oral antiinflammatories like ibuprofen/acetaminophen are also helpful. If the symptoms are severe then it will be best to consult a dermatologist For stretch marks, eat healthy , nutritious food ,drink plenty of fluids and do moderate exercises. Laser therapy and dermabrasion, alone or in combination have also been shown to be effective in diminishing the appearance of stretch marks. For that you need to consult a dermatologist. I hope it helps.

I'm not experiencing any problems with the teeth on either side of the extraction point, nor did the dentist note any issues with them on the xrays. Ive taken ibuprofen, but it's not doing anything for the itching. Any ideas what this could be? I'm trying to get an appointment with the dentist again for another tooth to be filled, and will inquire from him when I do as well, but is there anything I can do right now to alleviate this itchy sensation?
Week 8 of Tela/Riba/Interferon Tx. Poison Ivy like rash and itching. All other side effects seem very minor compared to this right now. Benadryl at night, hydrocortizone 1% twice a day, Claritin, Zantac x2 /day, just got new cream from my dr (not sure it is working). Read about Zyrtec, thinking of adding it to the mix, anything to get me through the day. Somewhere read about ibuprofen, added that too. Tried Gold Bond, worked for 2 hrs, then seemed to make things worse.
One night the crawling sensation was flared up very badly, and I happened to have a toothache at the same time. When i took 600mg of IBUPROFEN for the toothache, I noticed the crawling sensation had calmed down. I often take 600 to 800mg of IBUPROFEN for some relief on days when the sensations are very active. While the crawling sensation is mostly random where I don't know where i will feel it next, sometimes it stays active on one part of my body, like I will feel it mainly on my arm.
Had to go to the dermatologist for one rash bout and put on Prednisone and a topical steroid for two weeks (plus Atarax for itching...it was bad.) It eventually cleared up. Don;t have a real bad rashes now. I use Nizoral for scalp treatment. I had the flakes real bad, but it has cleared up. Also soaked my head with Keri oil (hard to find, though). I also have Mycelex for mouth sores, which come and go.
First of all I have Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia, but Thank God I am in remission for 7 years. They are telling me I have chronic kidney disease, and have to avoid Ibuprofen. I am very careful what I take so as not to interfere with my Leukemia medication. I am feeling a little relief today. I was told by 3 doctors that I do not have sinusitis, and its just allergies. With everything I have to deal with, it all just gets to me sometimes.
I have had this burning itching hands and feet for over a year it's unbearable when it starts up and for know apparent reason it seems. I don't have derbatiris or psoriasis. I am not diabetic so what the hacks going on. It's so frustrating to go to a Dr. And they bake you feel like your crazy.
sore tongue (never even heard of that with ms) urinary incontinence itching..itching..itching muscle cramps in my calf, feet, and believe it or not my stomach...not in my abdomen but on my abdomen like my skin its wierd. "jumpy/twitchie" muscles recenty increased number of headaches muscle spasms across lower back after short periods of walking or standing. Do these things even remotely sound like ms?
This second time around, I've been itching for 2-3 months. Last week I noticed a lump on my right side where my thigh begins. Right at the joint. I also noticed a few red spots. Which is strange because I'd itch but there wouldn't be any marks on my skin. I look normal. I went to see my doctor and he told me I had shingles. Which explains the red spots and the lump. He put me on Valtrex (sp?) and I've been taking it for the past 4 days.
