Common Questions and Answers about Ibuprofen for injuries

ibuprofen

Avatar n tn I called my PCP today for a prescription for Ibuprofen. I am hoping a stronger dose of ibuprofen will help with the pain and healing. Does anyone have any suggestions? Has anyone had this kind of injury?
Avatar m tn Try and use the most natural method that you can find that works for you......- .. give ibuprofen another chance - most of us here would laugh at the ibuprofen - but it does work after you get the other narc's out of your system......................
Avatar f tn //www.sportsinjuryclinic.net/sport-injuries/knee-pain/acute-knee-injuries/knee-contusion This seems mild to moderate at most since you are able to get around but again, please get it looked at. Let us know the outcome of your doctor's visit.
Avatar m tn I have stopped running because it hurts pretty bad. Pain usually goes away with ibuprofen and rest. I am just not sure what can be causing this because I have not experienced any fall or injuries to my knees in the past.
Avatar n tn Sometimes repetitive injuries or strain can also produce these symptoms. A disorder called fibromyalgia can produce these symptoms (tenderness). Please consult your primary care physician who will carry out blood tests and x rays to rule out these conditions. In the meantime you can take OTC pain medication Ibuprofen. Ensure to take this medication after food to avoid gastritis. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar f tn Hello, I am an athlete and due to often strains or injuries i need to take non steroid anti inflammatory pills for a few days like ibuprofen, diclofenac, lornoxicam, etoricorib. Even from the first pill, i feel physical exhaustion and then water retention. I am also short of breath, sometimes i feel sleepy and also sometimes my vision acuity decreases. Of course, the symptoms disappear after a few days i finish the therapy. Could someone tell me how to deal with these side effects? Thank you!
Avatar m tn m tired of these Doctors think that everybody that takes pain pills for chronic pain are drug addicts. When you have severe injuries like I do ibuprofen is not the answer.
314554 tn?1337454119 (Female 46 yr) My podiatrist examined the Morton's Neuromas on both of my feet about year ago. He made my orthotics and I wear ShockDoctor orthotics in some of my other shoes. At one time, I had several knee and tibia "injuries" that were biomechanical in nature from overtraining on the stairmaster and the occasional use/misuse of sports performance & pain meds (no longer use).
Avatar n tn First of all you really need to have it looked at and x-rayed as you could have done damage and that needs to be adressed right away. Until you can get into the doctor though alternate heat and ice and also take ibuprofen for the swelling. I would really strongly advise you to see the doctor as soon as possible though.
Avatar f tn Thank you so much for your answer. I left a message with my eye specialist yesterday, (very busy office), and have suffered thru until tonight. I really appreciate the answer and an on my way to get some relief now. I will discuss this with him at my appointment on Monday. Again, my thanks!
Avatar m tn Soreness is natural for skiers, as the intense resistance affecting the muscles of the arms and legs as you down the mountain can create small tears in the muscle tissue, resulting in pain and sometimes noticeable inflammation. When pain from these tears develops 12 to 24 hours after skiing, this is mostly likely delayed-onset muscle soreness,. As the muscle tissue has a chance to heal and rebuild, the pain will subside.
608208 tn?1220398134 for 4 days I have had constant discomfort in my testicles, Its almost like I was hit in them but the pain isn't as severe. It just started all of a sudden. Ibuprofen seems to help. I made a dr apt but couldn't get in for 10 days. should I just wait the 10 days or find another dr to see about it.
Avatar m tn I was recently diagnosed with mild impingement syndrome in my left shoulder. My pain-free ROM is limited to about chest high with my arm extended directly in front of me not on antiinflammatory medication, and I'm mostly (I'd say about 99% pain-free, normal ROM) on Ibuprofen. I'm doing the exercises prescribed to me with a duraband, but I'm getting a bit antsy without my usual routine.
Avatar m tn The biggest problem with opiates as I see it is that they do NOTHING for long term relief. When used for short term they work wonderfully but for long-term, tolerance makes you take more and more to get the same relief. Once you are taking obscene amounts, then the opiates start to make you ill as well......ARRRGGGHHHH!!!!! I too share this problem and I have found nothing that helps me be "comfortable".
Avatar f tn Is 3-6 200mg Ibuprofen a day for a 3-6 days a week bad for you over a long period of time?
3122657 tn?1357432602 Ibuprofen is bad for our livers. Try getting a massage if you can. Bromelian, a natural supplement made from pineapples helps reduce swelling but it takes time to work. Also, make sure you're drinking lots of water, and getting some exercise. Try some yoga too. Pot brownies worked the best for my back pain.
Avatar n tn t go too wrong with RICE...means Rest, Ice to the area, Compression with an ace bandage for a few days and Elevate the part you injured higher than your heart. In this case, like reclining in a lounger. you would have to decide on any over the counter medications to take or not.
Avatar f tn Sorry about the accident. That's a bummer. So, your main question is about the cartilage thinning in your knee? I found this which might help. https://www.sportsinjuryclinic.net/sport-injuries/knee-pain/acute-knee-injuries/knee-articular-cartilage-injury Your accident could have caused this or it could have been happening over time. But either way, that is now seen, it's now a fact of your knee. Sorry about that! RICE is often applied to help with it.
Avatar f tn Has anyone heard of any reactions to ibuprofen while pregnant?
Avatar f tn is it safe to take ibuprofen when pregnant? Just once? Ran out of tylenol.
1386405 tn?1291587800 ok I just read online that you are not suppose to take ibuprofen while you are pregnant again im 5 weeks i took total of seven not all together of course over say a period of maybe two days due to a severe toothache did i do something stupid is my baby going to be ok.
Avatar m tn whenever i take even one 550mg (naproxen) ibuprofen and then drink, my stomach gets tender and bloated and i feel bad. i usually take a maalox or something like that, yet i never throw up from it so i don't know if that's applicable for you. i think it is due to the ibuprofen, but if you're not used to eating spicy foods then it could have disagreed with you, not necessarily meaning food poisoning. you should never drink and take NSAIDs at the same time.
Avatar f tn My doctor said that ibuprofen is a big no no but then again it is only one time and many have taken it before knowing they were pregnant i am sure u and ur baby will be fine just try not to have it next time.
