Ibuprofen for infection

Common Questions and Answers about Ibuprofen for infection

ibuprofen

The next day I took one more dose - the flank pain started again within an hour, but was gone the next day. The same thing happened last year when I took ibuprofen for a sprain, but at the time I never associated it might be from the ibuprofen. I don't have any health problems and don't have any other symptoms. Can this be a side effect of ibuprofen in otherwise healthy Kidneys or is this something I should get checked out? Thanks.
My grandfather was recently put on a high dose of ibuprofen (800 mg) because he cracked a rib during a fall. Tonight, after his second dose of the day (one at lunch, one after dinner) he produced no stool except for a lot of white mucus. He also has a suprapubic catheter (inserted only about 3 weeks ago) which I know makes him vulnerable to infection.
That is what a doctor is supposed to do help you. It takes time for any drug to clear your system and a large dose of a drug for the kidneys and liver to filter out all the Ibupropin. If you feel down maybe get a referral to a conselor to have someone there. But, it sounds like you have a wonderful friend that saved your life.Let us know what the doc says.
I went to the doctor last wednesday and he diagnosed me with an upper respiratory infection caused by allergies. The main symptom I went there for was this brain fog, I have it bad and still have it bad to this day. The doctor said that would cause it, but i just want to know if it is true and will it be cured by the antibiodics he gave me please help.
I was taking 3 600mg tablets of ibuprofen a day to combat the pain and fever. I did this every day for a week. When the fever didn't get better, I went back to the doctor (Sept 27). He ran a bunch of blood tests. (It turned out what I have is a sinus infection which has gotten better with Levaquin). But my doctor calls and says all the tests on September 27 were fine except my liver counts were high for SGOT, SGPT, and Alkaline Phosphatase.
ibuprofen wont do much for a sore throat, if you take a tylenol or something with acetomenophen it is an anti-inflammatory and will bring the swelling down off your throat...try gargling salt water and drip honey down the back of your throat...and if you dont feel better in one or two days...
My doc told me ibuprofen only but my liver is a stage 0 which means little to no damage.
Not all together of course, but I usually do take the ibuprofen with whatever I take for the sinuses. And nothing! My face hurts so bad, feels like my head is in a vicescript, terrible head ache, ear ache, throat hurts, coughing, runny nose, nausea, diarreha, loss of appetite. I can't find anything to take the pain away. What can I do to make this pain go down? I've been like this for about 5 days and nothing seems to be getting better.
Viral infection is best treated with rest, (OTC) tylenol (acetaminophen) or ibuprofen for pain. Amoxicillin is the antibiotic of choice for treating bacterial ear infections. If the bacteria is amoxicillin-resistant then cephalosporins are used. Cefuroxime is a cephalosporin antibiotic. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
In the meantime, soak your thumb in warm water for twenty minutes every hour or so while awake and you can take ibuprofen for pain if needed. Good luck.
Yes, I went to my dentist. After xray he found infection at the root of my tooth. I was put on amox. and ibuprofen. My question is how long is normal for this swelling to last?
Viral sore throat is best treated with rest, warm oral fluids and (OTC) tylenol (acetaminophen) or ibuprofen for pain. If you develop a fever, or if there is enlargement of the tonsils with pain or if there is white coating on the tonsils, you will need to consult your primary care physician for a strep test, which if positive you will be given antibiotics. Regards.
Nothing was prescribed for the pain? Have you tried taking ibuprofen?
She went to her family doctor and he only gave her medicines of BACLOFEN and ibuprofen. Because she had this problem for a few months already, I think she is better to see a specialist. We live in Norwalk, CA 90650 Best regards, Tim G.
If it developes into a cyst, becomes painful and swell, have this evaluated further by your doctor for proper management. At this point, maintain oral hygiene as tolerated and over-the-counter medicine such as ibuprofen may help provide relief. Try also to avoid smoking, drinking alcohol, and spicy foods. Take care and regards.
I've had a sinus infection for a couple of weeks.I have sores inside the nose with a rash and swelling on the outside.I have tremendous pressure. I have only taken mucinex for the cough associated with the drainage.Should I seek medical attention?
I had sex for the first time approximately three weeks back and sex again approximately two weeks back; then I got my period and once my period stopped I noticed this sore on the outside of my vagina (not too far from the openning) plus two bumps on the outside. Is this because of the sex? I'm sure if it was it would have started immediatley but I'm not entirely certain when it did start. I did take the morning after pill and as I understand that may cause a yeast infection??
Hello, This redness can be due to trauma due to the piercing. If there is any warmth, pain, oozing or discharge or any fever then any infection should be suspected. Apply warm compresses and oral antiinflammatories like ibuprofen/acetaminophen are also helpful. If the symptoms are severe then it will be best to consult a dermatologist. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided.
Steam inhalations and salt water gargles can help. Continue to take (OTC) tylenol (acetaminophen) or ibuprofen for pain. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
I have suffered for the last 2 months with a vaginal yeast infection that was not responding to treatment. At onset, I used Monostat 1 ovule as the store was cleaned out of the 3-day I usually rely upon. This seemed to make it worse, I then used a 3-day which ultimately didn't work. My Dr. tested me for other infections, which came back negative. He prescribed Diflucan, which gave me relief for only one day. I tried the 7-day, again no relief.
I thought the endodontist did a very poor job). So now I'm on my 2nd day of 500 mg Penicillin QID, and I'm still having pain. I've been taking 600 mg ibuprofen Q6HR alternating with 1000 mg Acetometophin Q6HR, which helps, but I was wondering: how long should I wait till I possibly suspect the antibiotic is not doing the job on the infection? Also, it was recommended that I have a redo of said root canal, which I agree with, but...is that going to be a very difficult procedure?
So I was playing a game of basketball last week and during the game my lip got cut up a couple of times. I cleaned them the best i could at the time and stopped the bleeding, but i continued to play. I looked at the cuts later when i got home and the one on the bottom inside of my lip was deeper than I thought and probably should've been stitched. I didn't do this however and someone recommended putting oragel on it to prevent infection.

You can take pain relief like paracetamol as directed on the packet or whatever your doctor recommends for you. ibuprofen and similar medications are anti-inflammatory, but must be taken with or after food as they can cause stomach problems. Some people can't take them due to adverse allergic reactions. Best wishes.
Take a Benadryl (for the itching), 3-4 ibuprofen for the swelling, apply hydrocortisone ointment for the burning (buy the ointment and the one that says water resistant...get the ointment not the cream). Go to bed with nothing on from the waist down. This area needs to breathe!!! If you need to go to work, I recommend cutting the crotch out of those tights/pantyhose or go commando. Repeat for several days…good luck girls.
I took that and the ringing did go down a little bit but it's still there. But now he is telling me to take ibuprofen for A week. I had been reading online that ibuprofen doesnt really help with tinnitus and it can make it worse. Sometimes permanent. I don't know I called him and told him that. He said he knows what I'm talking about. But he still thinks I should take the ibuprofen. But it still makes me nervous. So what should I do?
He did say that I needed a night guard for night grinding and that could possibly be the reason for the pain. The next day I went to my regular doctor and was told I have a sinus infection on my right side (same side as the tooth) and prescribed antibiotics. I am able to seep without pain but once I get up and move around it starts hurting again. I am taking ibuprofen 800. Why doesn't it hurt when I sleep?
Hello, without examination, confirmation of a diagnosis is tough but it can be contact dermatitis, rash due to friction rub, folliculitis, cysts or genital warts(caused by HPV infection). Apply warm compresses, Neosporin ointment and calamine lotion and avoid messing with it.You can take anti-inflammatory pain killers like ibuprofen or acetaminophen. If the lump persists then it will be best to get it evaluated from a dermatologist.
I had a laparatomy about 2 weeks ago and for about the past week i have been feeling like i'm getting the symptoms of a urinary tract infection and a yeast infection combined. Has anyone else experienced this? Is it normal to have these small infections due to all the medicine and the catheter (sp?) and everything else? Just curious.
