Ibuprofen dosage tylenol

Common Questions and Answers about Ibuprofen dosage tylenol

ibuprofen

Avatar n tn Ibuprofen is a bloodthinner. They say you arent supposed to take it...only tylenol. Because when you are pregnant the volume of blood in your body increases by 50%. If you were to have an accident, go into preterm labor, etc...you could bleed out and hemmorage. Causing lots of problems!
1148241 tn?1294052796 Anything you ingest by mouth is eventually going to go through your liver. From what I've read, ibuprofen isn't as hard on the liver as tylenol (acetomenaphen or paracetamol), but still be careful to take no more than what the label says, and tell your doctor you're taking it. If it works, your doctor may direct you to take more than what's on the label, but again, follow instructions, dosage and timing carefully. Stay away from the "extra strength" formulas.
1654058 tn?1407159066 Karen, Your platelets are already low, and NSAIDs can increase the risk for bleeding; imho, acetaminophen over the ibuprofen, hands down. With low platelets from tx and a compromised liver and kidney system, any of the NSAIDs are contra-indicated for you (includes Motrin, Advil, Aleve). Tylenol is not to be taken indiscriminately either, though. With cirrhosis, no more than 2000 mg per day max (that means no more than 4 Extra Strength Tylenol in any 24 hour period).
1084115 tn?1385228589 Of course, I am not a doctor, but my husband's hepatologist recommends that my husband take Ibuprofen for fever or pain, rather than Tylenol. I would suggest taking the smallest dosage of Ibuprofen possible and stay under the total limit allowed for a 24 hr period and stop taking it when you don't need it anymore. Drink lots of fluids for your fever and don't bundle up too tightly.
Avatar f tn My liver doctor says tylenol-only in the recommended dosage, never more. Advil can involve organs other than the liver and since our livers are already under attack, best to keep everything else healthy seemed to be the thought. I always defer to the information from the liver doc, they will be more up to date than doctors of other specialities. Good luck to you.
Avatar f tn is it safe to take ibuprofen when pregnant? Just once? Ran out of tylenol.
Avatar m tn Can Kidney pain be a side effect of taking Ibuprofen? I was taking ibuprofen last week consecutively for 3 days (400mg t.i.d) after laser eye surgery. A day or so after starting it I experienced mild pain/discomfort in my left flank that came in waves. When I stopped taking the ibuprofen the flank pain also stopped. The next day I took one more dose - the flank pain started again within an hour, but was gone the next day.
7758733 tn?1402589420 Killer headaches, and never any Tylenol around. Ibuprofen can't be that bad huh? Got to go to work and this headache must go.
Avatar f tn am. Ibuprofen is a big no while pregnant unfortunately. Tylenol is what you want. Talk to your doctor about something stronger that may be safer.
Avatar f tn Pretty sure the recommended dosage on the side of the bottle is 2 tylenol every 4 hours as needed. No more than 8 per day. So yes, you took way too much. Definitely don't do that again, but your baby will likely be fine.
Avatar f tn Oh just re-read your question and honestly I don't know. I do know you can take ibuprofen while breastfeeding and you can take tylenol and ibuprofen together. So if you have ibuprofen I'd take that.
Avatar n tn m 6w 5d into pregnancy #3. Tylenol is what my Dr has always had me take.
Avatar f tn Unfortunately not, you can have Tylenol.
Avatar f tn Has anyone heard of any reactions to ibuprofen while pregnant?
7381903 tn?1391464888 Ibuprofen is never allowed.. Tylenol is only option and now that im in third trimester the pharmacy told me that doctors dont even want us taking that.
4287262 tn?1358999012 nd yu can take the regular 2 pills yur suppose to of the tylenol.... nd yur pretty lucky if yur still able to find tylenol... ive had the worse of headaches the lass couple days nd i cant find tylenol anywhere! ive looked in every store i go in nd none of them have tylenol!
10678677 tn?1413254266 Tylenol (acetaminophen) is safe, but do not take ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin) or naproxen (Aleve). For cold medications you must read the label because you should not use something with dextromethorphan (cough suppressant). Also, some already contain acetaminophen so you don't want to take double doses.
Avatar n tn To add to the above many of these combinations are made to serve the purpose of increasing the opiate dosage therefore the analgesic affect without increasing the amount of acetaminophen or Tylenol. You can't take more than 4000mg of Tylenol safely a day so many combinations are made so that you get more hydrocodone with lower doses of the Tylenol.
Avatar m tn My pain is not a pain for tylenol or ibuprofen. I need something stronger for this kind of pain. I need analgesic and antiflamattories.
Avatar f tn I cracked. I had a 24 hr migraine and ive tried everything. I took tylenol this morning. I took Ibuprofen an hour ago . I coudnnt take it anymore. It was a one time thing and i feel so much better. Will my baby be okay?
Avatar f tn Two completely different compounds. Tylenol, or acetaminophen has been deemed safe during pregnancy, ibuprofen, or Advil has NOT. As for aspirin, that's correct, it's a blood thinner.
Avatar f tn I also take fiorocet which has tylenol in it but I do not know off hand about the barbituate and how that would react with the ibuprofen at that dosage so check it out if you haven't already or for future reference.
