ibuprofen

Avatar n tn Ibuprofen is a bloodthinner. They say you arent supposed to take it...only tylenol. Because when you are pregnant the volume of blood in your body increases by 50%. If you were to have an accident, go into preterm labor, etc...you could bleed out and hemmorage. Causing lots of problems!
Avatar f tn after a month her TSH was normal but FT4 high, so our doctor advised us to reduce her dosage to 12.5 mcg. she is 4 months old now, recent blood test done shows - TSH - 26.11 (normal 0.25- 5.0 ) Ft4 - 13.87 (normal 9.0-20) total t4 - 110.88 ( 60-120) our doctor told us continue with the 12.
Avatar f tn s symptoms are along with other factors that need to be accounted for by your paediatric cardiologist. Depending on her weight gain, it sounds like an intervention will come sooner than later. She should be followed up on a consistent basis, most likely for the rest of her life not only for the ASD but for the chance that she has familial cardiomyopathy. It can strike at any time, so it needs to be monitored.
Avatar m tn Could this be a reaction to Ibuprofen? All doctors seen are aware that I take this medication, routinely but have not made any correlation?

Avatar m tn Can Kidney pain be a side effect of taking Ibuprofen? I was taking ibuprofen last week consecutively for 3 days (400mg t.i.d) after laser eye surgery. A day or so after starting it I experienced mild pain/discomfort in my left flank that came in waves. When I stopped taking the ibuprofen the flank pain also stopped. The next day I took one more dose - the flank pain started again within an hour, but was gone the next day.
1148241 tn?1294052796 I recently quit taking Vicodin for my joint pain because I was concerned about liver damage. I have been taking Ibuprofen instead. I've been taking two in the morning and then two in the afternoon. It says don't take longer than 10 days though. I have to take something though. My knees and wrists and fingers hurt too much if I don't. I know you guys aren't Drs but experience counts for something if its what your Dr has told you. What do you guys take?
Avatar f tn I had the Pertussis (Whooping Cough) jag, they offer it to pregnant women in Scotland between 29-38 weeks pregnant - and I took them up on the offer as there has been a high incidence rate of Whooping Cough in the area. It's just the Paediatric dosage they give you so that your baby is protected against the Whooping Cough should they become unfortunate enough to come into contact with it. Babies are offered their own Whooping Cough vaccine here after 2 months of age.
Avatar m tn The next day I checked with the same doctor regarding the dosage. He prescribed this dosage because paediatric PEP and other PEP medicine is not available in the city. My child completed the same PEP and did a HIV DUO test on 5th week (29th day from the date of exposure). The result is NEGATIVE. I thank you and God for all the help. The doctor told to test after 3 months. I would like to know the possibility of changing it to POSITIVE after 3 months. Please give me your suggestion.
Avatar n tn I just came from my dentist and he suggested I take 3 ibuprofen 4 times a day for 3 days to see if it would calm the nerve of a tooth. If it does not, then he suggests a root canal. My main concern is I'm afraid of the stomach problems this might cause. Do I have need to worry? I also take omeprazole to calm my stomach, so am I defeating the purpose? Thank you for your time.
1654058 tn?1407159066 Karen, Your platelets are already low, and NSAIDs can increase the risk for bleeding; imho, acetaminophen over the ibuprofen, hands down. With low platelets from tx and a compromised liver and kidney system, any of the NSAIDs are contra-indicated for you (includes Motrin, Advil, Aleve). Tylenol is not to be taken indiscriminately either, though. With cirrhosis, no more than 2000 mg per day max (that means no more than 4 Extra Strength Tylenol in any 24 hour period).
Avatar f tn Sweetie, there is nothing that you can take that is "a night time formula" that would have that much Ibuprofen in a dose. You shouldn't exceed the recommended dosage and if you took something that said it was a night time formula then you probably took something with diphenydramine in it. What are the active ingredients on the bottle? What strength per dose? 2900mg of Ibuprofen plus anything for sleep in not good. You need to tell someone what you took before you go to sleep.
Avatar f tn My liver doctor says tylenol-only in the recommended dosage, never more. Advil can involve organs other than the liver and since our livers are already under attack, best to keep everything else healthy seemed to be the thought. I always defer to the information from the liver doc, they will be more up to date than doctors of other specialities. Good luck to you.
690874 tn?1263050440 I have to preface my response by saying I personally have no experience or training with regard to paediatric stroke. My sister is a paediatric intensive care nurse consultant & has told me of a few babies she had cared for that had strokes. So while not common, it does happen, so hopefully you will be able to get some support relatively close to where you live. On the positive side, the neural pathways in babies are only starting to form, the brain is still growing.
Avatar m tn 5mg 5 hours after I have given her a dose of 3ml ibuprofen (100mg/5ml)? When her tympanic temp is 40.
Business man2 1) At my age 69.5 and a daily dosage of 4 ibuprofen OR 3 naproxen, do I have to worry about kidney disease resulting from a "total lifetime dose" of ibuprofen/naproxen ?? 2) At recommended dosage and over a lifetime, does acetaminaphen have less potential to harm me than either ibuprofen or napproxen? 3) Is there a "total lifetime dose" concern for acetaminaphen? Thank you for answering questions in this forum !!
Avatar n tn Paediatric i'm afraid! I have a 7 month old, who has delayed gastric emptying (t1/2 180) and was on lansoprazole, she developed faltering growth - from 6 wks slid down growth charts.
600857 tn?1230057770 m in pain, taking pain meds(percocet, ibuprofen and nuerontin) could the increase be causing this, or the abscense of Valium? I'm taking my meds every 6-8 hrs and I can't sleep.
Avatar f tn Chances are good that it's nothing serious. It may just be the start of perimenopause which can make for unpredictable bleeding. NSAID's (such as ibuprofen) especially a "prescription" dosage can reduce bleeding quite a bit. When you see a doctor you can discuss other medications, hormonal (some type of birth control) or non-hormonal (such as tranexamic acid, brand name Lysteda). Hope it all settles down for you!
Avatar m tn I have been taking maximum daily dosage of generic ibuprofen (3200 mg a day, usually 1600mg at a time). I also take 600mg etodolac, 400 in the am and 200 in the pm. I have been having kidney pain on both sides, and excessive sweating. Could this be from taking too much NSAID medication?
Avatar m tn Oh my goodness. A doctor telling a patient to drink in liquid form rather than pill form because it doesn't go through your liver that way? Everything goes through the liver, whether it's liquid, tabs or pills. Ketorolaco is an NSAID, just don't exceed the recommended dosage and there is no reason why you can't take it in pill form. It would probably be faster acting in liquid form but it won't by-pass your liver. Most of us are advised to take acetaphetamine.
Avatar n tn The dosage is 1 30mg tablet every 4 to 6 hours. One should be swallowed with water with or after food with water. Also whiste taking this painkiller, do not drink alcohol. Dihydrocodeine tablets may reduce your ability to think clearly. Effects such as ‘pins and needles’, dizziness, spinning sensations, muscle rigidity, visual disturbances, drowsiness, confusion or hallucinations may occur. Do not drive or operate machinery if affected. These tablets can become addictive.
Avatar f tn Has anyone heard of any reactions to ibuprofen while pregnant?
