Avatar n tn ve just came to know the danger of such a long term use and which includes liver damage and the increase of the chance of a heart attack, therefor i stopped taking that medicine. My question is how long it will take my body to cleanse itself from that medicine and if there is anything that i can do to speed up the cleansing process. Last, if any of my body organs got damaged, would the damage be permanent or it will hill up after a while.
Avatar m tn Although it is unusual for short term NSAID use to cause kidney issues, it can happen. I would say stay away from that dosage.
Avatar f tn There is no scientific evidence to support plavix having any use for stents after 12 months. You should have grown a new lining well within that time. However, there have been a few alarms raised from the US saying some people have formed clots very soon after plavix was stopped. This is now a strange time because some Doctors feel its best to take it for life, some believe 3 years, some 2 years and some 1 year.
Avatar f tn My doctor hates Benzodiazepines because of th potential liver disease with long term use. I don't drink so I think i am fairly safe. i know people taking up to 12 mg's for seizures.

1100992 tn?1262357216 How many of you have been on the same treatment for a long time? Like years? I was diagnosed a few months ago, and am finally starting to feel normal. I never knew normal. :) I'd like to stay on the meds long term, and I read on the abilify site that treatment shouldn't be longer than a year or so. What if something's working for you? Can't you just stay on it? Seems silly to me.
600857 tn?1230057770 Hi all, it's me Gretchen. I had my 3rd Nuerolysis yesterday. Lets hope this works for awhile. My question is. My Pain Mgmt DR upped my Nuerontin to 300mg 2x day. He took me off the Valium and Baclofen. He said Valium is not good long term and by upping the Nuerontin I won't need Baclofen. OK. As of yet, no bad side effects, yet I've heard many say things about Nuerontin. Any input would be greatly appreciated. One last thing. I've been feeling amped out.

Avatar n tn And getting OFF Xanax is very difficult. Klonopin, on the other hand is designed for long term use and is quite easy to w/d from when the time comes. It is also just as or even more effective than Xanax. Please speak with your doctor about switching from Xanax to Klonopin, but do NOT stop the Xanax abruptly!!!!!!! You and your doctor should discuss a cross over plan to replace the Xanax with the Klonopin.
Avatar f tn You need the vicodin for the pain because of the abscess and short term usage isn't going hurt you. Ibuprofen can also be taken as long as we keep it within the recommended dosage. Most hepatologists recommend Tylenol for pain as long as we follow the prescribed dosage either on the bottle or what our liver docs prescribe. Those of us with advanced liver disease are allowed at least 2000 mg within a 24 hr period.
3122657 tn?1357432602 1 nonprescription pain reliever, does not cause GI bleeding, but long-term frequent use or even large single doses can cause severe liver damage. In fact, acetaminophen overdosing is the most common cause of acute liver failure in the U.S., often as the result of suicide attempts. Most people still don’t know about this risk and don’t realize that acetaminophen is in hundreds of OTC cold, allergy and headache products and some prescription pain relievers.
Avatar f tn They certainly hear all the negative media coverage damning the prescription and use of long term opiates. If we influence or change one person's negative attitude towards chronic pain and its management than we are fighting the war against us! Yes the War against Us, Against Chronic Pain Patients. You should not be shamed or harassed into this position, "stop the mess and live in constant pain." Taking your husband to your next appt along with educating him may be beneficial.
Avatar m tn The only reason that I ask is that I've heard on of the long-term side effects on dxm use is being a bit lathargic. I'm that way now and the VA did an MRI of my brain and found that my adrenal glad had begun to shrink so, it wasn't producing enough of the thyroid hormone.....I can already tell I'm got some defects from the long term use in my cognitive abilities. I'm down to 18 pills day. 1 pill every two days. The morning w/draws have pretty much stopped.
