Ibuprofen dosage during pregnancy

Common Questions and Answers about Ibuprofen dosage during pregnancy

ibuprofen

Avatar n tn Ibuprofen is a bloodthinner. They say you arent supposed to take it...only tylenol. Because when you are pregnant the volume of blood in your body increases by 50%. If you were to have an accident, go into preterm labor, etc...you could bleed out and hemmorage. Causing lots of problems!
Avatar f tn I took 4 ibuprofen during pregnancy 3 hours apart.. I read online that ibuprofen is not allowed during pregnancy??? Does anyone know if it's ok or why it's not allowed my doctors office won't answer but I'm really scared now.
Avatar f tn Ibuprofen (and all NSAIDs) are a big no go during pregnancy (with the occasional exception of aspirin for certain medical conditions, and only under direction of a physician).... Tylenol (acetaminophen) is really the only thing you can take.
Avatar f tn I don't know if I'm pregnant or not but If I am can Ibuprofen harm my child during early stages of pregnancy?
7923170 tn?1412999504 Ibuprophen should not be taken during pregnancy. Ibuprophen is the active ingredient in several over the coiner pain relievers...Motrin, Adivil are two examples. Always check the active ingredients on any medication to find what you are taking. I would recommend asking your doctor for a list of any common medications that are safe while pregnant. I hope this helps.
Avatar f tn I have a infected broke off wisdom tooth during my last pregnancy my face swelled up and I was out of Tylenol so I took a 800 mg ibuprofen. Bad call for me but I was in pain and it was only once and everything turned out fine with baby so I was lucky.
Avatar f tn As it had been said you do want to be cautious with any meds during pregnancy. However Tylenol is one of the safest painkillers to take during pregnancy just follow recommended dosage. It's unlikely that you caused any harm to your baby. As for research, due to the unethical nature of doing research on pregnant women, there is limited research on effects of some drugs on pregnant women so don't panic because Tylenol is recommended over aspirin/ibuprofen when pregnant.
1386405 tn?1291587800 hi this i defo something no about with my last pregnancy i had severe headaches and i was taking ibuprofen i was taken them all the time but i finally went to the doctors because the pain wouldn't settle and the doctor said DO NOT take ibuprofen just take cocodomal i think thats how you spell it lol.
Avatar f tn There is an ingredient in ibuprofen that is a blood thinner, which is very dangerous for pregnant women considering we already have extra blood in our system. Ibuprofen (advil) is NOT safe to take during pregnancy. Your best be is to listen to those girls who already posted, and drink 2 tall glasses of water real quick. Dehydration is the number one cause of migraine/headache. If after half an hour you still have a headache, take some regular strength tylenol and have a nap. Feel better soon!
Avatar f tn No ibuprofen. It's a big no no during pregnancy. You can take Tylenol. Also, drink plenty of water. Eucalyptus oil in the shower or diffuser will help clear you up a bit.
10678677 tn?1413254266 so during this whole pregnancy i havnt taken any meds but kids meds for cold....well i just took only ONE tylenol extra strength bcuz my teeth r hurting then a half cap full of kids cold meds..is that okay??
Avatar m tn no, 200mg 2x/day isn't ever effective for suppressive therapy , even when not pregnant. Not in canada so I go by the ACOG recommendations as well as the extensive research by Dr Zane Brown who has done the majority of the research on herpes and pregnancy. The herpes handbook by Terri Warren, our herpes expert here in medhelp, also supports the dose I recommended. you never, ever, EVER have to take acyclovir if you don't want to, even during pregnancy.
Avatar f tn Ibuprofen is not to be taken during pregnancy.. Ive gt migraines and now that in pregnant its so severe because I can't take ny usual medication so I take paracetamol low dose for the sake of the baby even tho it doesn't helo much.. try washing her hair with cold water n place cold olive oil in her hair she should feel better with that.. well it works for me..
Avatar f tn Never ever ever take advil or ibuprofen during pregnancy. It's a blood thinner. Your md should have given you a safe med list. Tylenol.
Avatar f tn Two completely different compounds. Tylenol, or acetaminophen has been deemed safe during pregnancy, ibuprofen, or Advil has NOT. As for aspirin, that's correct, it's a blood thinner.
Avatar f tn To be honest, during the 2WW there really isn't much you need to avoid. I would double check with your Dr., but I doubt it's a problem. Of course, once pregnancy is confirmed tylenol is the only thing you can really take that is not prescription. Again, double check with your Dr., but I am pretty certain it's fine at this point. Good luck, hope it's a BFP!!!!!
Avatar f tn It says tramadol is category C though. If you don't know what that means just type in goggle pregnancy category C.
Avatar m tn Can Kidney pain be a side effect of taking Ibuprofen? I was taking ibuprofen last week consecutively for 3 days (400mg t.i.d) after laser eye surgery. A day or so after starting it I experienced mild pain/discomfort in my left flank that came in waves. When I stopped taking the ibuprofen the flank pain also stopped. The next day I took one more dose - the flank pain started again within an hour, but was gone the next day.
Avatar n tn This is my 4th pregnancy and I thought ibuprofen was a big no-no. I have had constant headaches for the past 3 months so he gave me that. Anyone else been prescribed ibuprofen? Or know anything more about it?
1148241 tn?1294052796 I recently quit taking Vicodin for my joint pain because I was concerned about liver damage. I have been taking Ibuprofen instead. I've been taking two in the morning and then two in the afternoon. It says don't take longer than 10 days though. I have to take something though. My knees and wrists and fingers hurt too much if I don't. I know you guys aren't Drs but experience counts for something if its what your Dr has told you. What do you guys take?
Avatar f tn Sweetie, there is nothing that you can take that is "a night time formula" that would have that much Ibuprofen in a dose. You shouldn't exceed the recommended dosage and if you took something that said it was a night time formula then you probably took something with diphenydramine in it. What are the active ingredients on the bottle? What strength per dose? 2900mg of Ibuprofen plus anything for sleep in not good. You need to tell someone what you took before you go to sleep.
Avatar f tn If you are hypothyroid, medication MUST be taken during pregnancy with close monitoring to keep TSH in the 0.3-2.0 range and many women need a dose increase during pregnancy. Untreated hypothyroidism can cause neurological development problems, miscarriage, pre-term delivery and other problems.
