Ibuprofen is a bloodthinner. They say you arent supposed to take it...only tylenol. Because when you are pregnant the volume of blood in your body increases by 50%. If you were to have an accident, go into preterm labor, etc...you could bleed out and hemmorage. Causing lots of problems!

Hi all, it's me Gretchen. I had my 3rd Nuerolysis yesterday. Lets hope this works for awhile. My question is. My Pain Mgmt DR upped my Nuerontin to 300mg 2x day. He took me off the Valium and Baclofen. He said Valium is not good long term and by upping the Nuerontin I won't need Baclofen. OK. As of yet, no bad side effects, yet I've heard many say things about Nuerontin. Any input would be greatly appreciated. One last thing. I've been feeling amped out.

Thanks for answering Carolan. Actually I really hadn't thought it was a problem to take Ibuprofen in the morning and then Naproxen in the evening (which says NSAID) on the bottle (over the counter). Hmmm I 'm glad you mentioned that. I'm going to look that up but I'll stick to only one kind a day.

Tylenol is unveiling new maximum dosage instructions for paracetamol or acetaminophen in the US. The new instructions state a maximum total daily of 3,000 mg versus the old maximum of 4,000 mg. Additionally, it states to take the over the counter dosage every 6 hours instead of every 4 to 6 hours. These new instructions seem to be specific to their over the counter products not prescription medications.

I just came from my dentist and he suggested I take 3 ibuprofen 4 times a day for 3 days to see if it would calm the nerve of a tooth. If it does not, then he suggests a root canal. My main concern is I'm afraid of the stomach problems this might cause. Do I have need to worry? I also take omeprazole to calm my stomach, so am I defeating the purpose? Thank you for your time.

For the mood chart, it would be nice to have the option to add medications ourselves. There are so many different meds out there, the list provided doesn't cover them all, and it would be hard to keep up with them. The option should be to enter the name of the med ourselves. The tracker is great, but more med options is needed. Is this function already there and I am not seeing it?

I imagine they're trained to know which medications work best for which heart problems. As for dosage, I'm not sure. If you look at a PDR the book mentions standard dosages for children, adults and geriatric folks. I know with the antibiotics I use at work we choose which antibiotic works best for which type of injury or specific bacteria. I always calculate dosage according to species (mammals have a different calculation compared to birds or reptiles) and weight.

I am having trouble finding out what is a safe maximum dosage of Diamox for psuedotumor cerebri. When I had asked my daughters neurologist this question, she said there is no maximum dosage which I found hard to believe that there wouldn't be a max dose on any medication. Karen, Your platelets are already low, and NSAIDs can increase the risk for bleeding; imho, acetaminophen over the ibuprofen, hands down. With low platelets from tx and a compromised liver and kidney system, any of the NSAIDs are contra-indicated for you (includes Motrin, Advil, Aleve). Tylenol is not to be taken indiscriminately either, though. With cirrhosis, no more than 2000 mg per day max (that means no more than 4 Extra Strength Tylenol in any 24 hour period).

I’ve read that the average dosage for adults is 30 mg/day. I’m a 25 year old male. I weigh 220 lbs. and am 5’11”. The only other medication I’m on is 100 mg of Zoloft/day for the treatment of depression. I have no prior medical issues. Sweetie, there is nothing that you can take that is "a night time formula" that would have that much Ibuprofen in a dose. You shouldn't exceed the recommended dosage and if you took something that said it was a night time formula then you probably took something with diphenydramine in it. What are the active ingredients on the bottle? What strength per dose? 2900mg of Ibuprofen plus anything for sleep in not good. You need to tell someone what you took before you go to sleep.

Tylenol for sure. If you use anything ibuprofen related ASK your o.b. first and go by their orders. It can be harmful if in long term use.

Okay, I KNOW that I remember being told by the liver doctor who performed my biopsy that if I do need to take a pain reliever that I should take Tylenol. My OB/GYN doctor just told me to take Advil for cramps because it isn't metabolized in the liver. I rarely take anything, but if I do, which is less risky? Liver biopsy one year ago found no significant tissue scarring. My recent ALT enzyme levels are slightly lower than before, 61. My other enzyme levels are normal.

t go threw it again ...Aleve is what I use for teeth being pulled .The funny thing as adults we think we have to have pain pains for so many things . I look at my son who had two teeth pulled twice because his baby teeth would not fall out . He took nothing said it really did not hurt .
