Ibuprofen dosage arthritis

Common Questions and Answers about Ibuprofen dosage arthritis

ibuprofen

Avatar m tn Don't use Ibuprofen. Is it possible to get some aspirin? That's safer for dogs. Ibuprofen is toxic. I hope I haven't caught your question too late....
Avatar m tn I totally agree with Karla. Stop the Ibuprofen straight away. And a trip to the vet to get her arthritis managed is a good idea. Also, a Glucosamine and Chondroitin supplement might help her a lot. They certainly help my dog, I can vouch for that. She has been on them now for 2 years. She used to limp very slightly on a back leg which was once broken when she was younger.
Avatar n tn He sent me for an X-Ray which showed early arthritis changes. He sent for a course of Physiotherapy which I attended for 6months. In the end I stopped going because after the initial mild improvement in pain there was no further improvement. I am taking 1500mg Glucosamine Sulphate + 1200mg Marine Chondroitin + 1000mg Omega 3 fish oil daily. Despite this the symptoms have now spread to my right hip, right shoulder and slight symptoms in my right knee.
Avatar n tn Ibuprofen is a bloodthinner. They say you arent supposed to take it...only tylenol. Because when you are pregnant the volume of blood in your body increases by 50%. If you were to have an accident, go into preterm labor, etc...you could bleed out and hemmorage. Causing lots of problems!
Avatar m tn I have arthritis pain in many joints of my body, my feet especially. Is there anyone out there with the same issue, and is so, what have you taken to relieve the discomfort?
168348 tn?1379357075 Hi, I ask this question because both a member on the Arthritis Community, and myself have seen a corelation between taking NSAID for arthritis and depletion of Vit D ... is this just coincidence or is there a possible connection?
Avatar n tn I also take meloxicam, and tylenol is about the only thing that I know of that can be taken in conjunction with it. You still need to be careful not to take more than the prescribed dosages, though. I believe there were studies done recently that showed too many people take over the counter tylenol, believing it's safe - too much of it is hard on the liver. Most people really only need one regular strength tylenol, not two extra strength. Anyway, that got a little off topic.
6708370 tn?1471490210 Acetaminophen (Tylenol) is widely recommended for the relief of back pain and the pain of knee and hip arthritis. But a systematic review of randomized trials has found that it works no better than a placebo. Australian researchers reviewed three randomized trials that compared acetaminophen with a placebo for the relief of spinal pain, and 10 trials that compared their use for easing the pain of osteoarthritis. All together, the analysis included 5,366 patients.
Avatar m tn This is about my husband who has arthritis. He wakes up every morning with his right hand (entire) swollen and painful. Our internal med dr. said it was caused by arthritis.
Avatar m tn I have been taking maximum daily dosage of generic ibuprofen (3200 mg a day, usually 1600mg at a time). I also take 600mg etodolac, 400 in the am and 200 in the pm. I have been having kidney pain on both sides, and excessive sweating. Could this be from taking too much NSAID medication?
Avatar m tn Can Kidney pain be a side effect of taking Ibuprofen? I was taking ibuprofen last week consecutively for 3 days (400mg t.i.d) after laser eye surgery. A day or so after starting it I experienced mild pain/discomfort in my left flank that came in waves. When I stopped taking the ibuprofen the flank pain also stopped. The next day I took one more dose - the flank pain started again within an hour, but was gone the next day.
11446628 tn?1418298480 You may not have rheumatoid arthritis which is an autoimmune disorder, but your osteoarthritis can have flare ups. At the moment it appears that you are having a flare up (acute). Chronic means long lasting. You can have a condition that is chronic that may not be acute. Your doctor can send you for xrays to see how the osteoarthritis in your knee is at the moment and compare this to previous results.
Avatar f tn Just try to keep him comfortable as you can, give him some ibuprofen for the pain and some moist, warm heat on his joints. Please keep me updated on how your son does with this.
1148241 tn?1294052796 I recently quit taking Vicodin for my joint pain because I was concerned about liver damage. I have been taking Ibuprofen instead. I've been taking two in the morning and then two in the afternoon. It says don't take longer than 10 days though. I have to take something though. My knees and wrists and fingers hurt too much if I don't. I know you guys aren't Drs but experience counts for something if its what your Dr has told you. What do you guys take?
Avatar n tn I've had 3 recent blood tests, all have come up with abnormal liver enzyme results. Everything else is normal. My AST first time was 112 ? ALT was 125. Second AST was 165 / ALT was 115, third was AST 105 / ALT 165. I'm a social drinker, but have abstained since first results (2+ weeks) & have tried to eliminate all toxic substances (I have taken a LOT of tylenol in the last 5 years for pain...thought it would be "gentler" than the arthritis prescription).
Avatar f tn NO! Dogs can't metabolize ibuprofen (advil). You can give him tylenol for a short time, but he will be much better off with an anti-inflammatory from your vet. I had two dogs that ended up with severe arthritis. The first took rimadyl daily for 5 of his 13.5 years due to hip displaysia. The last couple of years we switched to deramaxx when the symptoms got more severe. BIG difference with the deramaxx, but it's more expensive.
Avatar f tn With the symptoms you mentioned I feel it could be tendinitis or arthritis or bursitis. Arthritis can be secondary to many diseases like rheumatoid arthritis, gout, injury, infections etc. Bursitis and tendinitis can occur due to over use and injury to the knee. As pain subsided with ibuprofen it could be some inflammation like bursitis, arthritis or tendinitis. Take rest, elevate your limbs while sleeping, take ibuprofen if necessary.
1036532 tn?1335409367 I've been diagnosed recently with Rheumatoid Arthritis. I have always taken ibuprofen for my aches in the past. This year I was put on a mild anti-depressant, so I switched to acetaminophen. However, I've now been put onto hydroxychloroquine (Plaquenil) against the rheum arthritis. You're not supposed to take acetaminophen with it. Are there any other painkiller options? What am I supposed to do for headaches? Am I just out of luck?
Avatar f tn Lorecet is an opiate (hydrocodone) and contains Acetaminophen (APAP). You must limit limit your dosage of Acetaminophen (again depending on the amount of liver disease you have) or you could cause liver damage. You should not drink alcohol when taking Acetaminophen. Soma/Carisoprodol, a muscle relaxant, is used with rest, physical therapy, and other measures to relax muscles and relieve pain and discomfort caused by strains, sprains, and other muscle injuries.
Avatar m tn Does it hurt more with certain positions of the hands or all the time? You could have simple arthritis in them, or rheumatoid arthritis in them, or even carpal tunnel syndrome. A visit to your primary care physician can diagnose which problem, if any, you have, and could relate treatment to you at that time. Typically, some type of anti-inflammatory medication is given, like Advil/Ibuprofen/Alleve for the over the counter types, which is most always tried first...
Avatar n tn I just came from my dentist and he suggested I take 3 ibuprofen 4 times a day for 3 days to see if it would calm the nerve of a tooth. If it does not, then he suggests a root canal. My main concern is I'm afraid of the stomach problems this might cause. Do I have need to worry? I also take omeprazole to calm my stomach, so am I defeating the purpose? Thank you for your time.
Avatar f tn After visiting with the doctor yesterday due to a sinus infection I decided to confess to her about my headaches. :) Headaches that start behind my left eye, always the left. After several of these headaches, starting about 10 years ago, I finally found that Benedryl with a decongestant takes care of it. However, the longer I wait to take the Benedryl the longer it takes to get it under control. So then it radiates to the back of my head and into my shoulder.
Avatar n tn Does lupus arthritis go hand in hand with lupus itself ? my sister was told she needs to be checked for lupus arthritis because all her bones are in pain .... her bones are very painful to the touch ..
729288 tn?1251254433 I stopped taking Ibuprofen at all - I really just used it for my arthritis and it didn't seem to be any more effective than acetaminophen (tylenol) with the sx. I found Tylenol really much more effective and would take 1000 mg twice a day, sometimes three times but never usually more than that. I guess you rally need to take it every four to six hours for it to be effective with the fever. Although I never had fever for days at a time - hours daily, sometimes.
