ibuprofen

Avatar f tn kinda smells like menstrual blood. Just today I started having cramps.. but my period is due within the next day or so ..not sure if its from that. If it is a cut wouldnt it have healed???
2055843 tn?1332427915 Ibuprofen does usually tend to help with these severe cramps, and keep using the heating pads like you have been. If ibuprofen alone doesn't work (it didn't for me) then your doctor will sometimes prescribe a prescription strength painkiller. Also, if you have a primary care doctor or better yet a gynecologist, discuss this issue with them. Sometimes gynecologists will put people on low-dose birth control to alleviate severe dysmenorrhea.
Avatar f tn I have horrible menstrual cramps and the only relief i have found is ibuprofen, naproxen etc (Nsaids) but now i have developed stomach ulcers and gastro infections from it. So i I started taking paracetamol, and pretty high doses. But its not working. At all. What can i take for my cramps that works but are not nsaids? Not taking anything is not an option as I litterary wont be able to stand upright from cramps. I do take 80mg nexium a day. Thanks in advance for any help!
Avatar n tn I have severe menstrual cramps(I can feel them all the way to my chest) during my time of the month...I dnt kno why and just wondering does anyone else have this problem. So what do I do????
Avatar f tn Hi there. Tylenol is what is recommended for pain and discomfort including cramps. Mayo Clinic suggests no more then 2,000 mg per day if you have liver disease which includes people with Hepatitis C. Tylenol is a better choice then pills containing ibuprofen such as Advil or Motrin. The only concern with Tylenol is that you do not want to have any form of alcohol in combination with this drug. As always with any pain meds, the less the better. ....Kim .
Avatar f tn I started having severe menstrual cramps and heavy bleeding after my second time having a period (at 11 yro). The heavy bleeding was caused by anemia, had to go on iron supplements which immediately helped. For the pain, I had to take birth control pills (though I wasn't sexually active). This helped for about 4 years, then the painful cramps came back but were not so severe. Everyone is different obviously, so I would suggest going to gynecologist.
Avatar n tn I would not think 400 mg of Ibuprofen would help with contraction-related pain as contractions sound far worse than menstrual cramps. You could ask your OBGYN to be sure, but I would not count on your doctor telling you this will take the edge off. I would ask the OBGYN if there are other options to relieve the pain besides the epidural. I can understand the hesitancy there. Best wishes!
Avatar f tn ve had various other procedures done which involved manipulations of my cervix for various things and the thing I recall most is the feeling of cramping, like severe menstrual cramps as well as a bad pinching feeling. Also, I have a high tolerance for ibuprofen so I've taken 1000 to 1200 mg beforehand because, at least for me, 800 wouldn't be enough.
1577200 tn?1331725719 maybe sound crazy but I have an odd-ball question concerning menstrual cramps and how they compare to it?

1582332 tn?1296924865 I have had painful periods since they started. I would take ibuprofen for the cramps until it started geting so bad I would throw up the ibuprofen. I switched to tylenol and if I dont get it in me when I first start, I feel sicker, my bowels evacuate and and I get extreamly nauseas. Absolutly miserable wake you from your sleep periods every month. My breasts will enlarge a whole size and a few months later, return to their normal 34 D.
Avatar f tn Hello everyone! I have a question about menstrual cramps, and any help would be appreciated. I have been suffering extremely painful cramps for years now, ever since I got my first period when I was 13. I'm currently 18 and am going off to college very soon, but I have no idea how to deal with these cramps that incapacitate me for an entire day. My cramps get so bad that I usually faint. For example, when I was around 14 my period came in the morning but I still went to school.
Avatar n tn on top of That im having the absolute worst lower abdomen and lower back pain ive ever had. it feels like menstrual cramps times 100. im trying to work up until i go into labor but the pain is almost unbearable.
Avatar n tn My ablation was unsuccessful and now to make matters worse, I have severe menstrual cramping. I take ibprofen every few hours and it does nothing to relieve the pain. I am sick and tired of being miserable every month. Do you know why my cramping is even more severe now and do you have any suggestions to relieve them? Could it be a hormonal thing?
Avatar f tn ve had super uncomfortable menstrual cramps in my life as well as a cyst on my ovary that eventually passed (very painful). I did just weather through with ibuprofen. It does work well for me for relieving pain and discomfort. But if you are concerned or if the pain is super bad, then it might be wise to check in with your doctor.
Avatar n tn I have painful periods--not nearly as bad as yours, but the first few days are always terrible until I take alleve. I used to take ibuprofen but it is no longer effective, i had to take five ibuprofen and now it only takes one alleve every 12 hours. but it is damaging to take that much. I would suggest you reconsider hormonal birth control--my periods were very manageable while on it.
Avatar f tn Is there an OTC pain reliever that I can use for my menstrual cramps while I am experiencing ulcer-like symptoms? If not, what are the best alternatives? The first 2 days are always just awful, and before I usually took 6 advil gelcaps throughout the day for the first 2 days. Thank you!
Avatar f tn Is it true you shouldn't take ibuprofen it can harm the baby? I just seen this today while doing research as to this is my first. i have been taking it before I found out I was thinking my period was coming and I've always had bad cramps so I know to start taking it before my period comes to help with the pain. Should I be worried that I've harmed the baby from taking it? I'm 5 weeks BTW.
Avatar f tn I am a twenty seven year old female who has been having severe menstrual cramps since I first started my period at age twelve. Through the years my periods symptoms have changed some symptoms have gotten worse, changed or minimized. A few years ago I was diagnosed with Chronic fatigue syndrome, gluten intolerance and gastritis.
Avatar f tn Every month I get severe menstrual cramps. I have been to the gyno a few times looking for what I can do, but seem to be at a loss. I am not allowed to use hormonal treatments to help with the pain, such as the pill, because of other health concerns and no doctor wants to risk putting me on a hormonal treatment. Though the cramping doesn't respond very well to the pain medication I've been prescribed. At times I feel like curling up in the fetal position and just crying.
Avatar n tn Hi, Spotting and usually a light blood flow are the first visible signs that your period (menstrual flow) has started; most young women will notice a spot in their underwear first. A period can last anywhere from 2, 3, or 4 days for the first few months to a year. Other signs can be lower abdominal cramps, bloating, fatigue, irritability, and headaches, etc ~ which are normal...
Avatar f tn ve noticed that movement as simple as walking for an hour or strenuous workouts causes me menstrual like cramps, nausea, and headaches. I've been watching what I eat and have tried cutting out certain foods, but nothing seems to make a difference. My period makes it unbearable, which we've now stopped with the pill. What can this be? What doctor should I see? My ob says she wants to wait to see if I'm in pain another 4 months before referring to a surgeon for endometriosis.
1395422 tn?1308016251 Everyone woman knows what a menstrual cramp is. It may come as a surprise to many that menstrual cramps have another name. The medical term for these abdominal and pelvic pains is “dysmenorrhea”. More than 50% of women are affected each month by a certain degree of dysmenorrhea, and 15% of those women are experiencing severe cramping. Isn’t this PMS?
