Common Questions and Answers about Ibuprofen cream glucosamine

ibuprofen

Avatar m tn I am looking to treat trauma of the brachial tendon to treat pain during bicep workouts by using a glucosamine cream. I have heard anecdotally that the cream format increases bio-availability by a staggering amount and that the oral supplement is essentially a snake oil product. But I have also heard that there is no evidence to suggest the cream works any better. Thoughts?
Avatar m tn Hello & welcome....Ibuprofen is TOXIC to dogs....It sounds as if she is still in good shape, but needs a prescription for pain meds. from your Vet.....Your Vet will have a selection of meds to treat your girl's, what I beleive to be, Arthrititis....They work wonders.... The yellow bile is stomach acid and the Ibuprofen could possibly be damaging her stomach lining.....Usually, dogs vomit bile when they've gone too long without food.....
Avatar f tn Recently had a tox screen and tested positive for barbiturates which is perplexing because I have no idea how or why that's in my system. Is there a reason why? Could energy drinks or alcohol mixed with my daily consumption of 10 mg Norcos, glucosamine and clariton cause this? I'm just concerned and confused as to why this is happening. I didn't even know what a barbiturate was until I tested positive.
1327032 tn?1288840755 bengay - its ok - lol - avoid overuse of aspirin advil and alleve - the remedy depends mostly on the cause - there are some over the counter remedies - i take glucosamine with chondroitin and msm and vitamin d3 - these work for me - see if it goes away on its own - then try something else
Avatar f tn Firstly you could start him on Glucosamine and Chondroitin supplement. It really does help. You hear that the dog has to have taken it for a few weeks for there to be any noticeable change, but I have found it can take effect quicker than that. To give you an idea of dosage, my dog weighs 28lbs and I give her 500mg Glucosamine, and 200mg Chondroitin daily. If his weight is twice hers, or approximately, you can give double that dose.
Avatar n tn The cheapest thing to try is generic glucosamine. It is a nutritional supplement that you can get at health food stores or even discount stores. I would get a name brand, because I got ripped off by buying one of the big box stores' house brand glucosamine one time, but you do not need to buy the most expensive brand. Sometimes it is sold in combination with chondroitin, but chondroitin makes my dogs itch.
Avatar m tn m a 28 year old male, and I have a question about NSAIDs for chronic pain. I use ibuprofen daily most of the time for a torn meniscus in my left knee that I had surgery on and I have arthritis too. I also take it for a herniated disc (L-5) and ankle pain. I have acid reflux disease and esophagus problems as well. Is it safe to take all this Ibuprofen with the stomach problems I have, or should I talk to my Dr. about possibly prescribing another medication?

Avatar m tn While ginger is a good anti-inflammatory, by itself you probably won't notice anything. Most times ginger for arthritis will be standardized -- ginger tea, by cooking the ginger, destroys most of the anti-inflammatory effect, though it retains it's usefulness in combating nausea and motion sickness. A better anti-inflammatory is turmeric, and usually ginger will be found in formulas combining standardized ginger with standardized turmeric.
Avatar m tn It is a burning/aching pain that affects my walking. It hurts to sit, stand and walk. Ibuprofen helps a little but not enough. have had physical therapy for disc but that only helped with the back pain and is mostly tolerable now. had cortisone shots that didnt help at all.Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
2025701 tn?1328919633 That is unfortunate. If you don't think you are getting adequate care I would suggest switching hepatologists. If your liver disease gets worse you will need to rely more and more on your hepatologist. If you don't feel they are giving you the answers you need . Then should your cirrhosis continue to progress it will be more of a nightmare than it already is. I have had to have my hepatologist explain to me options that were a matter of life and death more than once.
Avatar n tn I know how bad it can be. I had a joint replacement in my left thumb but the implant failed and wound up having 9 surgeries, countless meds, procedures, etc. I don't know if you've tried glucosamine chondroiton. It can help rebuild cartilage if you haven't gone too far. It was too late for my hands but it may be helping other spots I have. What kind of doctor are you seeing? I get some relief from a prescription gel called Voltaren.
Avatar f tn He has been taking fish oils. Can this raise the overall lipids? Also, he ate ice cream the day before the test...can this affect the result so much?
Avatar m tn 5 pound schnauzer and has been limping a bit after exercise. I have started giving her 500 mg of glucosamine a day and wanted to know if this is the right dosage?
161647 tn?1280608163 The only thing I can think of was that my mom started taking Glucosamine last year. Can the Glucosamine affect eye vision. Or does anyone have any suggestions. My mom is worried that there is something seriously wrong because the doctor said the next step is too see a retina specialist. Thanks for any advise.
Avatar f tn t think my insurance covers, messages, Glucosamine and high doses of ibuprofen during the times when the weather is very unstable, which is Spring time. These options are not effective immediately but will help in the long run, hopefully. Any other suggestions?
Avatar n tn t going away. How do I keep the damage to a miminim? I use Ibuprofen for pain with fair results. Are there other medications that I should investigate? Re: PT, after heavy useage of my hand it hurts, should I continue to push? And what about ice or heat, heat helps relieve the pain, if there is internal swelling am I increasing the scaring? Thank you.
Avatar f tn Noooo... I know my doctor said it can be VERY harmful!!! I cannot tell you why, but that's what I was told :/ I feel ya, I miss my Ibuprofen!!
1093971 tn?1257833640 Not all glucosamine products are created equal. In order to best evaluate a product, you need to consider several things. When your healthcare and joint discomfort is at stake, take a moment and consider these criteria: What form is the glucosamine in? What is the total daily dose? Are there any other ingredients? What type is the glucosamine? How pure are the ingredients? If you’re considering taking glucosamine with chondroitin you have another ballgame.
Avatar f tn I just recently started taking glucosamine and Chondroitin to help my knee recover from a dislocated patella. but for some reason my contact lenses have become very dry is that a side effect of the glucosamine??. I have used this type of soft contacts for a long time but never experienced this problem. Thanks.
Avatar f tn As for pain relievers, you can use excedrin, motrin (which helps with inflamation as well), Ibuprofen, any of those. Aleve is one of the best.
