Ibuprofen and wound healing

Common Questions and Answers about Ibuprofen and wound healing

ibuprofen

Avatar m tn I have been cleaning the wound of dead skin and flushing it out, as well as applying burn gel and treating with hydrogen peroxide. There is no puss or swelling besides the clear fluid from the blisters that have all but flattened now. The pain gets better everyday, but there are still occasional bouts of greater pain. At the worst on a scale of ten the burn feels about a 6. I clean the wound 2-3 times a day and keep it covered with gauze.
Avatar m tn It will absorb the weeping - a healing reaction, by the way unless the weeping fluid is cloudy, thick, and quite uniquely painful with redness and swelling around your wound, most importantly has an offensive smell - you are in the healing stage, and with a powdered topical med forming an immediate scab you will be fine. Try to keep it dry...if you wet it during showers, gently blot dry immediately, disallowing the new scab to dissolve.
Avatar f tn I would have the doc look at it in case there is infection inside. If the strength of the site is compromised a wound can be pulled apart even much later. I once had an abdominal incision abscess and it nearly turned into gangrene. I'd call the doc at least, and if the drainage is not clear but like pus and/or has a bad odor, I would treat it with urgency.
Avatar f tn I have struggled with an opiate addiction for a little over a year. To make a long story short, I had already made the decision to get clean and had a plan in place for the steps I would need to take to begin a treatment plan when I noticed that my right arm was swollen, red, and there was quite obviously an abscess underneath my skin. I am prone to staph and abscesses so I took some antibiotics and ibuprofen and hoped it would go away, but it didn't.
Avatar f tn I stopped using all hospital products including ibuprofen because I felt better, stitches came out, and bleeding stopped. I stopped using pads because uncomfortable. But my plain underwear is not great either because it rubs down there! I wash the area but not where the stitches were. Now the area is itching like crazy. My husband took a look and said it looks healed except a small scar that resembles a line. So I can assume it's healing good, just itchy.
Avatar f tn The outside of the incision has healed but I have a 0.3 x 0.3 on the outside and 11.5 depth of the wound. I am now having to go to the hosptial where i live to have the bandages changed once a day in the mornings, they say I will have to go back to the surgeon and have it looked at becuase i have not healed any since the week after the surgery.
Avatar m tn The vet says there is not enough skin left to close the wound again and claims that the area will eventually granulate, fill in and close up but the wound looks so daunting I'm doubting it will ever happen. I'm bringing her back every other day right now for bandage changes so the vet is seeing the wound pretty often. She's on a couple antibiotics and pain meds. Does anyone have any experience with this? Can a dog with a large, deep open wound heal up?
Avatar f tn Is this wound infected or healing? There's yellow gooey thing on top of my wound. Is it a scab or infection? I'm currently under Augmentin antibiotics and also i'm putting fucidin on top of my wound as suggested by my surgeon last two days. The wound is not pain and the yellow gooey thing is just there and cannot be wiped off. It's hard. No discharge as well. I didnt wanna go back to my doc as of now cos of the charges. Appreciate the help!! Picture: https://s.yimg.
Avatar f tn Also poor circulation just adds to the problem of the wound healing. You can probably expect a longer wound healing time and as the dr said debridement if needed. Hope this helps and good luck.
Avatar f tn I was wondering how long would a normal time be for healing from a wound? My dog seems to have a very slow healing time. She has hurt her paw before, which took forever to heal. And now the scab above her eye still isn't all the way healed. Is there something I can do to help her? It doesn't seem to bother her, but I want it to heal faster, so there won't be much room for infection or anything else to happen.
Avatar f tn I have not smoked for 2 months now and am not a drinker. I am highly active and go to the gym. I keep the wound clean and covered when I go to the Gym. I feel I am in fairly good shape and good health. Itake vitamins and eat lots. I am 54 years of age and am 5'7" and 138 lbs, with low body fat. I have a full time job, care for my grandchildren and parent. I also volunteer with community church 3 times a week. Any suggestions to what can be going on and what to do.
Avatar m tn Hi specialmom and thank you for answering! I attend a wound clinic every fortnight and am using medipore and aquacel,. I just shower every other day as they say to keep the bandage on as long as possible although this is now casing irratation as its been so long. The last time I was in the hospital last year the doctor told me to use a womans pad instead of bandages but this isnt practical as I'm not sure how that would protect and keep the wound clean.
1172359 tn?1310667693 I do hope they get to the bottom of your issue as to why its taken months and months and no sign of healing at all.
Avatar m tn initially i left that as it is but the wound was not healing faster (adding to the problem after the bath the skin which is kind of healing i.e turing brown comes of and skin is red ) so far no puss. the doctor also suggests to apply hibi cleanser.
Avatar m tn Also diabetes leads peripheral neuropathy, atherosclerosis etc which make wound healing troublesome. You need a culture sensitivity of wound scraping to know what antibiotics will suit the infection. If there is underlying dermatitis, then this needs to be taken care of. If there is severe atherosclerosis preventing blood supply to wound, then this needs to be diagnosed by angiograms. It is better to get this treated at a wound clinic.
Avatar n tn If the area around the wound is not healing, is dead and won't take stitches then you need to find a better vet. That dead tissue is a major problem......it is not only dead but spreading fatal bacteria. It needs to be 'taken' off to the layer of healthy tissue. Your cat is not eating or recovering because she is full of bacterial infection. If your Vet won't do anything...find another!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! this is a 911 situation!
Avatar n tn I haven't had them but you can look up manuka honey. It can and does speed the healing of wounds that I've used it on, usually 15+ or 20+ minimum. I'm not sure what the Dr said to put on it but depending on the level you get, it can be very effective. Internally, bone broth can help your body a bunch with wound healing, can be purchased but homemade is best.
1236570 tn?1276738525 I just want to put some positive words out there. I had my surgery on june 10th. And I am doing AMAZINGLY well! Except for the first few days immediately post-op I have always felt better than before the surgery. I am completely off ALL pain meds save for the occasional ibuprofen (and I don't even take that very often). My biggest complaint is the stiffness in my neck muscles. But even that isn't painful per se, just stiff.
Avatar m tn This spot started to disappear after I used a wound healing cream but another 2 appeared after few days. there is a loss of a single layer of skin (its not like an open wound, or penetrating the other layers of skin - just a single surface layer of skin). The 'spot' is not raised and is only slightly red in appearance, Im guessing this is just through the loss of skin....when the 'spot' disappears there doesnt appear to be any marks of scars left. What it can be?
Avatar f tn Since the bony flap is not taking up and there are no signs of healthy wound healing and new bone formation, she required exploration and reconstruction of the bony flap. Get her a reconstructive surgeon consult immediately to evaluate the status of bony flap and reconstruction under general anesthesia. Hope this helps. Take care.
Avatar m tn Hello, After a varicocelectomy, some bruising, swelling, and oozing of the wound should be expected. It is very common to have bruising extend onto the shaft of the penis and swelling is a normal part of the healing process as well. As a general guideline, if the wrinkles of the scrotum can be seen and appreciated, then the swelling is within a reasonable level.
Avatar f tn I have had two, and the most important thing for easing the pain is walking as much as you can, it does hurt at first, but it helps healing and it helps not stiffen up. Take your medicine on a schedule, for me I took tylenol codeine and ibuprofen alternating for the first 3-4 days and by then i was done with pain killers. I hope it gets easier for you hun!
Avatar f tn the vet gave us to add inside the wound. The wound has not close at all and I am very concern that this will take more than a month to heal. I am very upset at the vet, because he blame everything on my dog, he should not scratch, but the tumor was on the right down of his neck and if he walks, sit of anything that area will always be moving. I would like to know if there anything else I can put on the dog wound and how long will it take to close that whole.
Avatar n tn I would like to know, why is it taking so long to heal and if it is advisable for me to see the surgeon again to reopen the wound. I am quite worried that it is not healing and cannot sleep well because of this. Is it common to bleed like that? What could be the possible cause?
