ibuprofen and oxycontin

Ive never heard of a Percocet 30mg, but Percocet and Oxycontin are not the same thing...I believe that Oxycontin is time released while Percocet is not...please someone correct me if Im wrong...hope this helps!

I believe that oxycodone is the generic name for Roxicodone, which is also obviously percocet without the tylenol. Oxycontin and oxycodone are the same thing, EXCEPT oxycodone is a quick release tablet, and oxycontin is a slow release of the same med. Hydrocodone is the ingredient in Vicodin and Lortab. Although they are all narcotics, vicodin and lortab are lesser strength than the oxy's and morphine.

They put me on lots of pain meds including morphine, percocet and oxycontin. I am home and have to go to PT twice weekly which is quite painful. I went to my surgeon on 11/2 and he said to wean off of oxycontin and oxycodone. He didn't explain how to go about that. My husband cut the oxycontin in half and I took that once at night and once in the morning for 3 days. When I thought about the next steps to get off the oxycodone, I thought to call the pharmacy for advice.

My dad takes oxycodone 15mg/ oxycontin 20mg/ marinol 2.5mg/ and ibuprofen 220mg Marinol is synthetic marijuana and it is doing wonders for his back pain. But if this is the case then shouldn't he theoretically be able to go off of the oxy's? I am so confused. Doctors don't tell me about liver or kidney protection and that is one of my first concerns.

So I take Ibuprofen to ease the headache...and than the Ibuprofen causes nausea...so it can be a circle. In time your system may adjust. But don't suffer, consult your pharmacist. Hope this helps and that you will soon be feeling better.

It totally ***** for us as pain patients as Purdue Pharma may begin to screw around with the oxy IR meds like they did the old oxycontin and kill an effective medication all to protect the drug addicts. The drug addicts don't need protection as they will just find their high somewhere else! Here I go ranting again....just makes me so mad.

Such as a combination of Oxycontin and ibuprofen? You want the NSAID for the inflammation but may need the narcotic for the pain.

I was addicted to Oxycontin for over a year, and 3 months ago I faced my addiction and went through Detox and Rehab, with much support from my family and friends. I am back to work, avoiding all triggers, and have gained weight, and feel like I am getting stronger. I do have incredible body aches, and have taken ibuprofen to help, but its not really helping. I was wondering if anyone out there has experienced these body aches, and what are you doing to help it?

I havent taken Hydrocodone in 5 years and Ive never taken Oxycontin. The dr doesnt believe me and Im probably gonna be released because of it. I cant make him believe me. Can anyone tell me if any of the following drugs can give a false positive for Hydrocodone or Oxycontin. The following drugs are all i take, No more and no less. Fentanyl 50mcg. I am currently on oxycontin 40 a day and endone 20mg per day. Same thing, one long lasting other faster. Because i desperately want to get off this stuff girlfriend has suggested Doloxene (dextropropoxphene napsylate 100mg tabs) maybe 8 a day and valium (5mg maybe 4 a day) and clonazepam (2mg? dont know how many to take). I broke my neck (c6/7) in car accident 10 years ago and fell down stairs six months ago T9 and T 12 crush fractures and nothing would take the pain away.

I will try and cut back on the daily ibuprofen/aspirin and use the ice packs a little longer. The self-hypnosis looks interesting and is something I'm going to look into. I'm trying to find the underlying cause of these headaches and try to avoid the triggers before the headaches happen. I'm glad to hear that my Maxalt usage is most likely not the cause for the daily headaches and it works extremely well as a last resort.

i live with chronic pain ,i have degeneritive disc desease,two broken feet that never healrd right,mild lower lumbar pain,and arthritis.i have been on lorecet and soma, now i have hep c and i need to know of something safer for my liver. and dont say overthe counter medication i have tried them all.

I have been on 30mg oxycontin 2x a day, and 30mg oxycodone 4x a day for severe chronic pain. I have had 2 neck surgeries, because the first fusion was a failure. Now my PCP has knocked me down to 240 10mg oxycodone, because he claims that the CDC will revoke his license if he doesn't go by there guide lines on the amount of opiate allowed per day. Now my severe pain level is a constant 10+ with severe withdrawl. How many others out there is having this problem, because of the CDC?

Another week and you should be over the worst if the wds. And any wd pain and RLS should lessen. Then you can start figuring out what your real pain is. Bc the opiates make pain worse. I hope the best for you. Try using something non ibuprofen too. Aleve etc.

Tylenol can be obtained OTC and is deadly to the liver if taken in too large a dose. The NSAIDs (ibuprofen, naproxen sodium, etc.) are bad for the kidneys and also the liver if you have hepc. Other than the potential for addiction, I would think that straight oxycodone, or codeine, or hydrocodone (without the acetominophen found in the mixed versions of Lortab, Vicodin, et. al)., would be less toxic to the liver than just Tylenol.

I had back surgery a few years ago and the dr prescribed oxycodone for pain since I had liver disease rather then oxycontin which I believe had tylenol. As Trinity said this stuff is seriously addictive and tolerance increases very rapidly. I threw hundreds of them out after a month of taking them when the acute pain subsided reasonably well.

i think my body is used to the oxycontin and when i have a flareup, only ibuprophen seems to help, not more oxycontin or oxyfast. I used to use oxyfast when i had a flareup but i don't get them like that anymore. ergo, either i am in fact over the worst of the fibromyalgia and can get by with ibuprofen or i am on the right maintenance dose and will simply have to live with the oxycontin daily as i have been for 8 years. no way to know until i go for it.

I have been on neurontin, lyrica, vicodin, percocet, fentanyl patches, ibuprofen, and oxycontin as well as morphine/lidocaine suppositories. I was doing 45 mg. oxycodone every 3 to 4 hours plus lorazapam plus ibuprofen and cymbalta and clonidine. THen they changed to oxycontin 40 mg. 3 times a day plus the others (minus the 45 mg. oxycodone.) I have the option of taking 5, 10, 15, or 30 mg. of oxycodone for breakthrough pain. I thought I was breaking the 30 mg. oxycodone (as I'm out of the 15 mg.) for pain. This can get very confusing. Thanks for your help.

Hi I have a massive period ache , therefore I took 1100 mg of ibuprofen . At first I had taken 500 mg tablet but it's been an hour and a half and it did not help , so I took an other tablet of ibuprofen of 600 mg . The pain is gone but I feel very tired , can I be harmed or die out of it ? Should I ask for help ? Or has anybody been familiar with it ? Please help me , I am a hypochondriac person and I also have OCD and use Prozac .

I took tylenol this morning. I took Ibuprofen an hour ago . I coudnnt take it anymore. It was a one time thing and i feel so much better. Will my baby be okay?

whenever i take even one 550mg (naproxen) ibuprofen and then drink, my stomach gets tender and bloated and i feel bad. i usually take a maalox or something like that, yet i never throw up from it so i don't know if that's applicable for you. i think it is due to the ibuprofen, but if you're not used to eating spicy foods then it could have disagreed with you, not necessarily meaning food poisoning. you should never drink and take NSAIDs at the same time.

Ibuprofen is bad for our livers. Try getting a massage if you can. Bromelian, a natural supplement made from pineapples helps reduce swelling but it takes time to work. Also, make sure you're drinking lots of water, and getting some exercise. Try some yoga too. Pot brownies worked the best for my back pain.

I have a infected broke off wisdom tooth during my last pregnancy my face swelled up and I was out of Tylenol so I took a 800 mg ibuprofen. Bad call for me but I was in pain and it was only once and everything turned out fine with baby so I was lucky.

Killer headaches, and never any Tylenol around. Ibuprofen can't be that bad huh? Got to go to work and this headache must go.
