ibuprofen

Avatar m tn Can Kidney pain be a side effect of taking Ibuprofen? I was taking ibuprofen last week consecutively for 3 days (400mg t.i.d) after laser eye surgery. A day or so after starting it I experienced mild pain/discomfort in my left flank that came in waves. When I stopped taking the ibuprofen the flank pain also stopped. The next day I took one more dose - the flank pain started again within an hour, but was gone the next day.
963889 tn?1359677334 My girlfriend had an open biopsy on her kidneys and it showed ibuprofen caused the damage. Her doctor in Florida did some research on Ibuprofen and then did a report for the AMA. Ibruprofen (advil and etc) is the number one cause of kidney failure of over the counter products in the Nation.
Avatar n tn ve just came to know the danger of such a long term use and which includes liver damage and the increase of the chance of a heart attack, therefor i stopped taking that medicine. My question is how long it will take my body to cleanse itself from that medicine and if there is anything that i can do to speed up the cleansing process. Last, if any of my body organs got damaged, would the damage be permanent or it will hill up after a while.
Avatar f tn m told that Ibuprofen is a contradiction and as a longtime diabetic I have been cautioned against using this medication under any circumstance. There are potential risks of kidney damage and this warning includes dosing of any kind. My endocrinologist is excellent and I trust her completely!
1654058 tn?1407159066 Over-the-counter pain medications such as NSAIDs (aspirin, Advil, Motrin, Aleve, and other medications) can cause unpredictable liver toxicity and kidney damage. They also can cause life threatening gastrointestinal bleeding. Something a cirrhotic wants to avoid at all costs. Acetaminophen has predictable hepatotoxicity and affects the liver in a dose-dependent manner.
Avatar m tn I have been taking maximum daily dosage of generic ibuprofen (3200 mg a day, usually 1600mg at a time). I also take 600mg etodolac, 400 in the am and 200 in the pm. I have been having kidney pain on both sides, and excessive sweating. Could this be from taking too much NSAID medication?
689265 tn?1251130087 just had my 2 year old at the drs for a check following a fever and told him I'd used calprofen ( children's ibuprofen ) initially when trying to bring his temperature down. He hit the roof!!! He said ibuprofen is proven to cause kidney damage and should NOT be made for children at all, he's on quite a mission to ban it. Just thought i'd let you guys know. fortunately, i'd only given my lad 2.
Avatar f tn Hi, you should not worry about having single kidney as many people are born with one kidney and happily live their life. The body only needs one kidney, and having a protein shake will not harm the kidney. The damage to the kidneys (no matter how many do you have) comes when an individual begins taking in excessive amounts of protein. This would be when the protein is more than 60% of the overall diet.
Avatar m tn They cause salt and water retention. They can cause kidney damage. NSAIDs will make your symptoms of liver disease worse.
Avatar m tn whenever i take even one 550mg (naproxen) ibuprofen and then drink, my stomach gets tender and bloated and i feel bad. i usually take a maalox or something like that, yet i never throw up from it so i don't know if that's applicable for you. i think it is due to the ibuprofen, but if you're not used to eating spicy foods then it could have disagreed with you, not necessarily meaning food poisoning. you should never drink and take NSAIDs at the same time.
7291916 tn?1399641067 Help! I completely forgot ur not supposed to take ibuprofen while pregnant. I am 12 weeks tomorrow. I just read up on it and it can severely damage ur baby. I'm freaking out. I feel like an idiot!
Avatar f tn I have a infected broke off wisdom tooth during my last pregnancy my face swelled up and I was out of Tylenol so I took a 800 mg ibuprofen. Bad call for me but I was in pain and it was only once and everything turned out fine with baby so I was lucky.
Avatar n tn t get better, getting a prescription will be a lot cheaper than a hospital stay for kidney damage. Be careful. Untreated kidney infections can make you really ill (like ICU ill).
1386405 tn?1291587800 The biggest effect of Ibuprofen is in the last trimester. It affects the kidney/urine output of the fetus, which results in lower amniotic fluid levels. It can also thin your blood, which can increase the risk of heavy bleeding during delivery and after. Your OB will tell you the same thing. Everything will be ok, and now you know, and you won't take it again. Good luck with the pregnancy!
Avatar n tn Your dog may have suffered kidney damage...and you need to get her to the vet immediately. You need to tell the vet that you have been giving your dog Ibuprofen and Philistine. Please...Get her to a vet ASAP... I apologize if this reply seems abrupt, but...you need to get her to a vet now.
Avatar f tn No don’t take above recommended dose .
Avatar f tn Ibuprofen, in high amounts for years, will cause ulcers and kidney failure. Three years of that much ibuprofen is enough to cause fatal kidney failure in some sensitive people. I recommend learning about the treatment of opiate dependence in general; there are several options these days. But for all of them, success depends upon the motivation of the addict-- not the addict's family members, who are usually motivated long before the addict is.
1326572 tn?1275500911 My liver and blood count look great but my doc said my kidney function is slightly off. The creatinine is high at 1.09 and the GFR is low at 54. I was occasionally taking ibuprofen but have stopped completely now. I'm also on mtx, folic acid, norco for pain and also xanax. The doc said she wasn't too worried but she wants to watch it. I'm wondering if anyone else has had the same sort of thing.
Avatar f tn Back when my pain was consistently on my left over the course of a year and a half I had three CT scans done. It was determined that I had kidney stones in my left kidney and that my pain was being caused when I was passing them, outside of that no abnormalities were found in my scans. I have seen two urologists since the discovery of these stones and was dismissed by both. They claimed my symptoms are not consistent with kidney stone pain.
Avatar f tn The problem with ibuprofen or tylenol is that you can cause liver damage that doesn't manifest immediately. An amount like 10,000 is too much for the liver to absorb at one time, and there can be considerable damage that you don't realize at this time. I think you should go to a physician, relate what you have told us, and get appropriate testing. Also, maybe some therapy.....that's helpful usuallly to everyone. Keep me posted. Good luck and God bless.
Avatar n tn The Telmisartan-HCTZ that was given will not make your creatinine low, it is to treat your hypertension and prevent further damage to your kidneys. It is also possible you have some protein in your urine which the Telmisartan helps to reduce. Also, Telmisartan can cause a slight increase in your creatinine but it is usually not a very significant increase.
Avatar f tn t even know if the old one was normal or not, no md ever said I had a kidney issue, I just finished 12 weeks of treatment and am undetected but now I am freaked out by these kidney numera I wrote my md but have not heard back yet Doesn't anyone know or understnad this, I am having trouble understanding what I read from google searches Thanks CH

Avatar n tn May be wise to have your labs checked Creatinine and BUN and GFR for kidney function.
Avatar m tn Hi Ju! I also take a prescribed anti inflammatory, Voltarin, and I was told by both my Dr. And my pharmacy Not to take any type of NSAIDS, ie, Advil, or Ibuprofen, with my anti inflammatorys! Definately check with your Dr. And let them know that the Meloxicam isn't always helping! All the best!
Avatar f tn Ever since i came back home my body has been acting funny and i am having extreme pain (it feels like my right kidney but it seems a little low to be my kidney) and i was wondering if there could have been some internal damage that would not have shown up right after the overdose but a little bit after? Should I be concerned or is this just my body trying to fix it's self?
