Hyzaar medication

Common Questions and Answers about Hyzaar medication

cozaar

Avatar m tn First of all, research your meds--even if you think they are insignificant. Vitamin D and multi-minerals will effect your heart rythm. There is a fine balance to be kept when you are dealing with vit D, calcium, magnesium, etc... Hyzaar can cause unusual tiredness, along with a lot of other things.
222369 tn?1274474635 ve gone from 280 to 248 or so. My high blood pressure was under control at the 280 lb mark by way of Hyzaar 100-25. My blood pressure is now in the low range (averaging 108/58). At what point in my weight loss (goal of 220 or lower) would you think I'd need to have my BP meds changed (if at all). I just thought a member here may have already gone through this and would have some advice. Thanks in advance!!
Avatar n tn My MD put me on Hyzaar for hypertension. Previously I had been on Cozaar but she changed it to Hyzaar for the added benefit of the diuretic. I noticed my drug company autosubbed generic Losortan. The bottle doesn't say anything about hydrochlorothiazide being included. Could I be getting the wrong thing, or should I assume some form of hydrochlorothiazide is included?
Avatar m tn It is a combination of Valsartan and the same diuretic as Hyzaar. It is essentially the same as Hyzaar which contains a combination of hydrochlorothiazide and losartan. Hydrochlorothiazide is a thiazide diuretic (water pill) that helps prevent your body from absorbing too much salt, which can cause fluid retention. Losartan is also in a group of drugs called angiotensin II receptor antagonists.
406412 tn?1217438384 It seems that stopping the medication would probably be counterproductive. I know that one of our members, Kenkeith, is very familiar with this medication. If he doesn't have a chance to see you post, you might want to send him a "note" or a private message. I'll be he can give you more information. In the meantime, I hope others come along to offer suggestions, comments also.
Avatar f tn I have been told that it is hereditary and there is nothing I can do to stop it. I am on metoprolol tartare 25 mg. and hyzaar 100/25, both taken 1 qd. hyzaar in am and meto... in pm. We are talking that within 2 years I will have a valve replacement (when it reaches 5.0 cm). Is there anything I can do to stop the progression?
Avatar m tn He is currently on Tikosyn, Pradaxa for Clot Prevention/Stroke, Hyzaar for his 40-year-history of HPB, Zoloft for anxiety/depression following a job loss in 3/09, Gabapention for sciatica, and Vitamin D and multivitamin. He has started experiencing mental confusion in the past 3-6 months. Is this related to the transient A-Fib or one of the medications he is taking, or is it transient due to his age of 62.
Avatar f tn I was on Lisinopril for kidneys too but it made me cough too much so my doctor switched me to Hyzaar.
765775 tn?1366024691 First of all I would like to point out that there is no where on here that points out the difference between addiction and dependence. There is a difference. I have been prescribed Oxycontin 20mg and Percocet 5/325 for the pain I have related to seven shoulder surgeries, back pain, ankle pain. Ankle Reconstruction surgery w/tendon graft is scheduled for this Wednesday.
Avatar n tn Also, I feel very tired most of the day. My weight is 170 pounds, blood pressure is normal (I take Hyzaar) and cholestorel levels within normal range. I have had EKG, Stress Test, and Echo done and all came out OK. The EKG shows early repolarization. I have been experiencing the sympoms often now and I am worried if I have CAD, but my doc seems not be too worried about it. Also, one of my uncles died young because of heart attack. Any suggestions woould help.
Avatar n tn We will first try to control the heart rate with one medication. If that does not work, a second medication is added. Sometimes even a third medication is needed. Cardizem (diltiazem) is known to cause swelling at higher doses, it seems elderly women are common group to have this problem. One option is to use a medication called digoxin to help slow down the rate and decrease the dose of diltiazem.
Avatar m tn Exercise (aerobic) can help the heart increase heart contractions. Does your stress test report indicate hypokinesis (heart muscle impairment)? Is your ejection fraction (EF) between 50 and 70%...that calculation is the amount in percentage of blood pumped out of the left ventricle with each heartbeat? Is your left ventricle enlarged? Those readings would indicate degree of any lost contractility, and whether or not there should be treatment and another cardiologist's analysis.
765775 tn?1366024691 I have high blood pressure and have been on Cardizem CD 240 and Hyzaar 100/12.5 for about 17 years. I also have mitral valve prolapse. My resting heart rate has always been around 60 even before medication as I was a weightlifter and football player when I was young. Since I have been confined to the bed from surgery my heart rate has been dropping into the 40's however my EKG is always normal other than the Bradycardia.
Avatar n tn My doctor prescribed the medicine NADOLOL to be taken long with FLECAINIDE nd my blood pressure med. HYZAAR. I am very tired and my heart rate is around 48, 50 bpm. Did anyone else take this medicine NADOLOL, and did it affect your heart rate like mine? This seems to be the only adverse side effect of my ablation, so far.

Avatar m tn I wake up with numb hands alot sometimes up my arms too. Pressure is normal and I am on Crestor at the maximum dose, toprol xl, coumadin, plavix, hyzaar, aciphex, hay fever meds. Also, for the last 6 months my Mean corpusle size has been high. Other tests ok... so my doctor is not real concerned. Anyhow, I am alittle concerned. Do you folks have any ideas at Med whatever this is?
765775 tn?1366024691 Having been inactive for so long my heart rate has gotten lower while still on the medication. Last night my HR went down to 39 and has been staying up in the high 40's all day long even before the surgery because I had several shoulder surgeries prior in the last 18 months. My doctor noticed that my resting heart rate was 46 when I had my EKG for pre-admission testing prior to the surgery.

514349 tn?1272801633 I received a notice in the mail regarding this hypertensive medication that I have been taking for quite some time. Apparently some batches contained N-Nitrosodimethlamine (NDEA) which is a "probable carcinogen". The letter contained no information on how long this had been going on or how high a content the tablets contained, but my medicine was included in the batch list that was sent. Of course, I received a replacement tablets from the pharmacy where I get them.
Avatar f tn Hi. If you read the posts on here and do some reading online you'll see that PVCs, PAC and other rhythm issues are indeed considered "normal" meaning just about everyone has them but not everyone feels them. Most of us here have been dealing with them a very long time. I have for nearly 3 decades. (And I'm still here). Chances are you may have had them as well but haven't felt them before and they have become exacerbated for some reason.
116881 tn?1189755823 My Dr just took me off of Hyzaar and has put me on 5 mgs of Bystolic per day to control skipped beats and my HBP. Well, the skips are much better but my pressure is still up and my pulse is really low for me -- like in the mid 50's!!! I feel like garbage. I have only been on it for a week. My Dr wants me to stick it out a little longer. So her I am needing take one today for my BP but my pulse is sooooo low. ANyone else on Bystolic? Will this get better?
Avatar m tn Study was done in Barcelona coincidentally I have been taking Hyzaar for about 2 years and took Cozaar for about 3 months. I am so computer ignorant I can't do a link, easily googled. Just thought you guys may be interested is anyone else on a angiotensin for HTN? no MD ever told me of the potential benefits I don't think they knew. I was reading a prison research on the increased incidence of HCV in prisons when I found out.
116881 tn?1189755823 HI everyone, For those of you who take Metropolol -- have you ever heard of taking it as needed? I am Hyzaar daily for HBP and when I get a bad bout of skips my Dr tells me to take a 12.5 mg or 25 mgs of metropolol. HE says it should calm it down within 30 minutes. Does anyone else do this?
Avatar n tn I feel something similar, usually I have few heart problems, although some. But after eating mostly anything, my heart rate seems weird. This happens most of the time, but rarely it doesn't. I think I will try to get a holter to diagnose mine.
Avatar f tn My PCP added Verapamil to my current meds which include 60 mgs Cymbalta, Hyzaar , One half .25 mg Xanax nightly ( I have been trying to get off Xanax completely for awhile now, but that's another forum). I am 59 years old and able to do low to moderate impact exercise 6 days a week, however I can't climb stairs without feeling short of breath. There's also a family history of pulmonary problems and that makes me extremely anxious.
Avatar f tn Ask your doctor before taking ANY medication.
